You mean to stop players from joining tournaments or teams that would ostensibly offer them more compensation and/or earnings? See: Gom BW tournaments, etc.

There needs to be a system to stop foreign teams from stealing Korean players like this"

i really hate those words..
Puma wouldn't leave TSL if he was happy there.

EG should have gone directly to TSL, negotiate a transfer fee, THEN they should have talked to Puma. Nice to see such a good player on a foreign team though, EG for GSTL!

So that korean teams could continue to treat their kids like slaves? you're right, in sc1 puma probably wouldnt get a salary or get sent to foreign events by their team.

Korea needs to step up and put more money into the scene instead of a handful of players (MC, MVP, NesTea, etc) if they hope to keep their talent on their own shores. I think this is going to set a precedent and Korea will only bleed more players to Western teams. Also, what does this mean for Korean players like NesTea who wish to participate in foreign tournaments? Will his team not allow it now?

Sucks for the up and coming westerners though...

EDIT: It will take me over an hour to read the entire thread, has EG made a press release yet?

TSL gives the players a salary actually.

So how many are writing and reading in these korean rage threads? How will their rage affect things outside of the forum? How big is the SC2 fanbase in Korea?

I think the bigger thing to consider is how the management of the SCII pro scene will react; will the continue to send players to foreign events? Will partnerships like the oGs-Liquid' house become viable if the higher ups in Korea start to mistrust their foreign counterparts?

You know what, the "rules" are there to increase manager and team profits and decrease player profits, so I say screw them. After this, Korean teams might actually start treating their players as assets and not as slave workers, and that's only a good thing. Gogo Puma.

no. current teams in Korea provides players of their environment to practice. your point could have applied to SC1 scene. but SC2 in Korea is small at the moment and a lot of teams are funded privately by the team owner with no sponsor.
although, TSL does have quite a bit of sponsor line up, please dont generalize all team owners as being pigs using players as slaves. there is just not much of money circling around SC2 scene atm.

i can see where TSL is coming from being a little angry that puma is leaving, but honestly?

if it's what puma wants they she'd be happy for him, and that he's getting to experience the world via the EG house.. honestly.. if i was in korea i think it'd be legit to move in with a foreign team, the same way as me as an american would be thrilled to move in with a korean team.

Don't want to break your spirit but that's actually Pumbaa and not Puma.

On topic: I don't know the entire story but I can imagine TSL being quite pissed. We'll see how this plays out.

yes Kespa did abuse their power. but they did setup a good infrastructure for the scene. i just hope SC2 organization can do the same.

They do? then it sure was not enough to keep someone like Puma, nor they cared enough to keep him with a counter offer. Sad for them, good for Puma.

In Every other sport the player is approached first.. then if something is worked out.. the other team is informed... These guys should be able to be free agents and sign contracts just like any other "sport"
