RootPrincess/SixjaxMajor caught smurfing in tourny - Page 19

Page 26 and onwards I will issue at least two day bans to anyone who clearly has not read the original topic post and the explanations contained therein. He was barred access to the event days before the actual event took place and used some random diamond player his account to try and get in anyway.

Leave the racial bias at the door while you are at it as well pretty please.

As long as he was explicitly told 5 days prior that he was ineligible, I can't see anyone at fault here but Terran. Yeah, the tournament thread OP was misleading but he was straightened out so he should've followed the rules instead of trying to circumvent it. It's not that big of a deal since smurfing happens all the time. He should probably be reprimanded or at least given a slap on the wrist by his team, though I think the community is doing enough for everyone

Having more prizemoney isn't gonna grow SEA, money can't make good players.

What kinda ignorant logic is that? If blizzard had a tourney that offered free t-shirts as prizes or if korean players didn't have the sponsors to have their players practice 24/7, you think we'll be able to see the same level of play?

On the issue, it's obvious that MajOr was wrong. He already clarified that with Dox, and with that knowledge tried to circumvent the rules. If there was a contract, he'd be in for fraud.

Sixjax's handling of the scenario is also less than noteworthy. Evoli basically said that the SEA market is unimportant to the gaming community. No apology forthcoming, even from coach Artosis. What they are saying is: "Look this is unimportant. Let's sweep it all under the carpet and forget about it." Basically, he's going DTs and hoping his opponent doesn't build turrets/raven AFTER scouting his dark shrine. Tastosis calls that stupidity.

Anyway same logic applies to all those like-minded to evoli: sixjax as a sponsor/team pales in comparison to other companies. And sixjax is not bigger than the sea community. And because of this, I guarantee you, in today's globalised society, no one from SEA will go to sixjax and buy from their auction site because they've just associated themselves (even justified) with dishonest behaviour.

Would you go to bank that has an openly dishonest bank teller? Would you even support the bank at all, seeing that, even after the teller got caught, the bank just reinstated without any form of punishment? How much do you trust the decisions of a manager or coach after he/she lets this kind of behaviour slide?

I'm a big fan of Artosis (don't get me wrong). It might not have been his place to comment. But Sixjax evoli (i'm assuming he's the manager) saying that the situation is "small potatoes" is not the way to go. As it happens, Evoli did apologise, but actions speak louder than words - he should suspend MajOr for a while, impose a fine or do something in lasting memory to ensure that such stupidity doesn't happen again.

What?

You're being extremely liberal with your interpretation of what I said. I never insinuated that that I thought anything but the best of the SEA region.

I should apologize for my use of the phrase "small potatoes." It was poor word choice, and I probably deserve to get chewed out for that.

If you look at what I said, I use the phrase after acknowledging that I talked to two tournament admins about the situation. I was trying to say that I had been in contact with those in charge, and that the situation had been dealt with. Moving forward I thought this situation was "small potatoes" as everything that needed to be done had be done. The very next sentence I again apologize for the event being disrupted. I wasn't trying to be anything but respectful.

Fair enough dude. But you do know that everyone watching this is going to comment on how Sixjax is going to handle this. While how you discipline your players is certainly up to your discretion, it might be wise to at least let the community know that it's happening. If it isn't, then I'm sorry, but you're just damaging the reputation of your sponsor.

So PROFESSIONAL player cheats, breaks the rules, and gets caught doing so.

His response after being caught cheating "You are a faggot"

What an awsome person.

Moral of the story: Nobody gives a damn if you cheat apparently, by all of the sympathetic posts on his behalf.

The worst part is Major explicably asked "Am i eligible to play" "No, you are not a citizen of SEA". Then he proceeded to play in it anyways trying to pretend he was someone else. What a class act.

"O hey is this allowed?"
--"Sorry, no."
"Well ima do it anyways and pray i dont get caught."
--"You are caught"
"You are a faggot!"

This "pro" player just acts so professionally imo. Embarrassing.

You are incorrect. If you read the OP more carefully, you'll see that he was told several days beforehand. Please don't spread misinformation.

He didnt buy anything...He used someone elses account to try to play.

And he asked Del before he even tried to sign up if he could play.

Don't feed the trolls who are trying to justify the actions of major. There is no justification if he knowingly and deliberately smurfs on another account just so that he is able to get access to a tournament that he is restricted from. He was fully clear that he wasn't allowed to play in the tournament since Dox told him, so whatever that was unclear on the tournament page doesn't matter anyway.

And to those of you who claim that tournaments should not be restrictive and should include the best players in the world. Get out. By that logic you have just claimed that tournaments resricted to certain leagues, eg. Bronze to Plat only are moot because they don't showcase the best players. Hell, tournaments which are female only don't deserve to be around anyway because they won't be as good as tournaments which include all players. Dox's intention here was clearly to improve the competitive SEA scene.

Being a good player does not automatically entitle you to break rules. Being a billionaire does not entitle him to break the law. Same difference.

I disagree with how evoli's handling the situation (stating that everything that could be done was done) but I do believe he was professional about his responses and clearing up misconceptions. Thanks for that at least.

The guy who opened the thread is such a drama queen. Major didn't cheat, he didn't do anything fishy, he just wanted to play a tournament like everyone else. As FXOtgun is registered that means there was no skill cap on registering for the tournament. So the only problem was location, which nobody cares about.

Overall you are just trying to stir stuff up and I see that its somewhat working... a shame that the community just jumps the band wagon to write c**p about some people for something that dosen't really matter.

Really? Did you actually read the OP, the thread or any of the links? Major did attempt to cheat the rules of the tournament via a smurf account (fishy)- all so he could win a tournament he wasn't qualified for (unlike everyone else). The point of the tournament was shared location.

Get the hell out of this thread.

You clearly don't understand what fishy means. Smurfing is not cheating and its not fishy. Its something anyone can do. Just because it dosen't say Sixjax-Major on the account name dosent mean you suddently get hack super powers and beat everyone(I'm sure MeatyOwlLegs(i think it was naniwa's smurf) competed in tourneys). The best player skill wise would've won the tourney so nobody can complain as he didn't use any cheats.

Now to let myself be clear: location dosent matter for tourneys as long as you have a account. It's retarded to make a tourney and not let anyone enter. The point of the tourney is not to give someone some money but to get the name of the sponsors out and give entertainment to the viewers. How better to do that than to get really good players competiting and providing good games?

People like you who only care about 1st place prize and being overall drama queens just to stir s**t up is what is going wrong with the sc2 community at the moment.

You clearly dont seem to understand the stupidity of your post (but maybe you're ****** yourself so we forgive you). Yes, Smurfing is not cheating and its not fishy, we know cause alot of progamers (and the oh so famous "day9" smurf that everyone goes on about) do it, but lets see what major did.

But as his stream revealed, he approached one of the diamond-league players who was participating in the event (SayfT / Gerlan), and asked if he could use his account.
- as posted on the OP.

I beg to differ, but isn't that already against Blizzard's ToS? So he's already broken a legal contract. But dw, blizzard hasnt found out yet so it doesnt really matter, after all he hasn't broken the tournament rules has he?

The original post was written and posted for SC2SEA.com. I decided to copy/paste it over here to provide a little more exposure for the players who frequent TL more often than our own site. Thus, the "valid SEA account" part was somewhat vague in a global context. The "SEA Citizen" requirement was included on the tournament calendar, but I didn't have the foresight to edit it into the OP.
- as posted on the OP

Okay. so he has broken the tournament rules. But maybe he didn't see the 'updated' tournament rules on the tournament calendar on the sc2sea website. So this was just a misunderstanding isnt it?

5 days before the event, sixjax.MajOr got in touch with deL, asking him if he was able to compete. deL contacted me immediately with the question, and I responded concisely. "No, SEA citizens only." 4 days later, MajOr decided to sign up anyway, obviously in an attempt to exploit this loophole.
- as posted on the OP

So, he was told a straight NO (from a tournament official too! not other participant) that he wasn't allowed to participate but yet decided to. Okay so he's broken the tournament rules and all, but wait isnt this tournament stupid and just a waste of time? after all they're doing the stupidest thing by not doing the following:

The point of the tourney is not to give someone some money but to get the name of the sponsors out and give entertainment to the viewers. How better to do that than to get really good players competiting and providing good games?
- as quoted by you...

Okay. So when did you write the rules of the tournament? Were you the one who organized it? Were you the one who threw in your own money for prize money?

Clearly not.

If you're the person i think you are, i suggest you post back good counter arguments, then maybe you'll earn the respect of people in here as a person who actually thinks before he post. Otherwise, we'll take your silence as an admission of defeat, but i'm certain you'll reply. after all, you aren't as ****** as i think you are.

Lets be honest here, does it really matter? He broke the rules, he was punished for it, thats all lol you dont have to go about insulting this guy.

Does it really matter? It matters for the people wanting to expand/grow the SEA SC2 scene.

And could you clarify who i insulted? Your sentence there is kindda vague.

Pretty disgraceful by major. Artosis needs to punish Major or major himself apologizes.

Either way Major will be banned from most tournaments.

ummm, actually he wont. The SEA scene is so small it really won't affect any of the bigger tournaments. And this smurfing isn't as big a deal as many people say. Tons of pros have smurfed or have done stuff like this in the past.

So you're saying that we should... ignore emerging markets? lulz.

It isn't smurfing. he was already disqualified on entry (on his SEA account) and he "bribed" other players into letting him play on their accounts. In a way, you could call it match-fixing, except that sAviOur was much better at it. Even in a criminal sense, its fail.

I didnt say that did i? I was referring to where the poster i quoted said that major will be banned from most tournaments, which he won't btw.

So its okay for pro athletes to take drugs and win local tournaments but not for them to take drugs and win big international tournaments? Okay, so maybe it wont affect his participation in most other tournaments but the morality of major's character is once again being majorly affected unless you're saying that Small crime =\= Crime

Just a minor annoyance though, hope it won't cause too much bad PR for Sixjax.

Its very funny to me that people just shrug this off like its no big deal. This is a pretty messed up thing to do. I have lost a LOT of respect for major and well I had none to begin with, also lost respect for sixjax.
Its funny how we let some "pro" players off the hook , even tho major has won nothing.. or done nothing yet in SC2. I find it funny that people on this post are saying its not that big of a deal, If this was a bigger event it would be a HUGE deal he just cheated a lot of players out of whatever the prize pool was.
Then to say "well you where being a fag" and then act like this isn't a big deal.
Sad to say something should be done to Major sixjax needs to take some sort of action. Because if he walks off with a slap on the wrist wat is stopping someone else from doing it.

Also i mean really u stream the whole event of u doing this.. how dumb are u ? The fact you did it is enough for us to call u dumb.

I'm sorry as well. You shouldn't label all of us by one or several bad posters but I understand.

i know not everyone is like that. But its just that most people who are so egocentric are USA citizens.

This is a patently absurd comment - both the original, and the followup. That's like saying, "I know not all white people are racist, it's just that most people in the KKK are caucasian." Idiotic netizens are everywhere, and I seriously doubt there are any regional disaprities in the behavior of netizens that can't be fully explained by factors other than region (such as average age of posters for that region or any social factors).

If you frequent English-language websites, of course the majority of idiots there will be American - they comprise the vast majority of the posters. That doesn't have anything to do with Americans as a whole.

To get back on topic, if Sixjax doesn't visibly penalize Major for cheating, which is what this is, I'm very curious to see if any major tournaments will notice and take action themselves.

I'm not familiar enough with the team, so what sponsors, if any, does Sixjax have? If there's enough of a community uproar, it would theoretically be possible to put pressure on any sponsors the team has to not support someone who acts like this.
