At least Incontrol is attaching his name to these projects. It's just that the community likes to hate on him for some reason. Why doesn't select get this kind of shit? The thing he attached his name to was illegal and violated the ToS. All he had to do was say "Oops, sorry I didn't know it was against the rules", and everyone instantly forgave him. Incontrol is taking part in projects that help the community, it's just that even projects with the best intentions sometimes run into problems.

Look at all the stuff Incontrol was involved in: SoTG, gosucoaching, gosuguide, gosucamp, NASL, inside the game, etc. Who else comes close to doing all these community projects while being a progamer? You can't say "Oh Incontrol is involved, this will fail", because he's the only one doing this. If everyone other progamer tried to take part in this much, I would guarantee that there would be many failures for them too. Would you rather have players coming out and participating with the community, or staying away from all of the fans and just practicing? How much cooler is it to get to talk to the pros that we watch?

How is Incontrol trying to get rich quick? He's coaching to help people play. I remember him saying that he increased his price because he had too many coaching offers and it was cutting into his playing time.

Anyways, good luck to Incontrol in future tournements. I will be rooting for you in the next MLG, as I always have in the past. As sad as I am to see you leave NASL and SoTG, I'm sure you will do well as a player.

A step in the right direction (hopefully :D). Really hope that the EG house produces some nice results!

Shouldn't Teamliquid lock this thread down or atleast get rid of the obvious trolls? It's just a bunch of internet people complaining about incontrol's business surrounding starcraft 2. If they actually had an issue with his method of business, wouldn't they make their own blog post about it, or a thread, or simply PM incontrol themselves? I mean, this thread is about incontrol, ''leaving the NASL''. Not, ''incontrol running evil business''.

On topic now: I believe Incontrol still receives alot of hate for hyping the NASL, but I believe it's understandable that he'd rather train and become better instead of simply talk about the game.

floor exercise, you are the best poster on this site. Keep it up.

Also, Incontrol reminds me of Hank Kingsley.

This is a bummer. I love watching iNcontrol cast with Gretorp. I think they have really meshed well as a combo. I also love the little things he does, like the looks to the production staff or subtle (or not so subtle) pop culture references. Good luck as a pro player, hopefully the NASL can find someone that forms a good synergy with Gretorp.

Well it's a bit hard to answer for the entire community, especially because there are plenty of people that do nothing but support incontrol but...

It probably has something to do with his personality - he comes across as very egotistical and a bit arrogant. If anything he is involved with ever does experience difficulties, he becomes very defensive instead of admitting that improvements are needed(see SotG after NASL week 1). It also doesn't help that he frequently responds to trolls, which only fans the flames. Based on some of his other comments (debate with Destiny over language) to me he comes off as a guy who figures his meal ticket has finally come with SC2. I don't begrudge him that and think it is awesome that people who work hard(as he apparently does) can make a living doing the things they love, but I question the eagerness of some people in the community to exploit SC2 as rapidly and completely as possible. I cannot think of a single thing that I love that has been improved by achieving mainstream popularity.

Sorry your get rich quick schemes didn't work.

I guess it's all about esports and the fans huh?

???
Yes I coach SC2 as a get rich quick scam. I also put on SC2 camps and create content in my never ending effort to make millions of dollars.

I so knew it.But i wonder doesnt EG interfer you on that?Your not doing any good on tourneys but you still coach alot you know.

Have you ever taught a class?

Have you ever successfully asked out a girl?

Please, bitch. Every entrepreneur has been involved in a long string of success and failures. I'm willing to be InControl's CV/resume is a lot more impressive than yours.

Your overtly hostile tone had me torn between reporting your post or responding with equal malice, but I will try to take the higher road.

My experience in coaching is admittedly lacking, I once ironically pretended to coach an indoor soccer team comprised of high school friends. I would wear a sportscoat and bring an old briefcase I found in my basement, riddled with BB gun pellets from target practice as a child. Our team was awful and we were expelled from the league for starting fights. As coach the failure was entirely mine, I taught virtually nothing and didn't really do that well in the fights either. Though bards often frequented this particular indoor sports dome, none would sing of my heroic deeds in the many battle royals that occurred on that astroturf.

On professional video gaming, I was a Big Deal in the 2v2v2v2 BGH scene on US east. My friends and I were incredibly good at Team Micro Arena as well, and to this day I believe we influenced the meta game with our infested terran usage.

You're right, I don't exactly know the struggle of coaching games in North America. I am swayed by your post however, I never once even considered how difficult it could be trying to convince people to give you money in exchange for lessons on how to play a game marginally well. Somewhere in some unmarked grave lies the corpse of an immigrant whose sole pliable trade when he landed on Ellis Island was his impeccable Ball and Cup skills. I can only imagine the scorn he likely had to endure as he struggled to make a living doing what he loved. Somewhere below my shriveled heart a knot tightens in my stomach just thinking of him.

On the subject of my professional career I am a licensed securities dealer and agent in Canada (but not Quebec) I have worked for myself, others and no one. I have written business plans but I have never started my own business. Unless you consider the time in 5th grade we would steal from the convenience store my schoolmate's parents ran and sold their candy at a reduced rate in the schoolyard. Although usually I find "Please Bitch" irresistible I find it best to publish as little about your personal life as possible and I hope you can respect that.

The first girl I asked out was in 7th grade. It seems so long ago now. It was in wood shop, I threw a note at her. She shared it with her friend, along with a giggle. I was crushed, with no one to share that feeling with but all of you which explains why I am such a bitter, angry asshole. I tried once more when I asked her to the school dance. She said she's going with friends but she'd "see me there". She'd certainly see me, it's hard to miss the person you're pointing and laughing at. Since then I'd have my ups and downs with women and most people do as they learn to live and love. We're really straying from the point of this thread though. It's cool that you took an interest in me though :D

This is utterly embarrassing, come on. I've only read the last couple of pages but WOW some of you really need to snap out of it and get off Incontrol's back. He's not doing anything malicious or wrong here, and this is supposed to just inform people so they don't wonder later on why they aren't seeing Incontrol via NASL frequently in the near future. Seriously, what the hell is with all the accusations against him? Just close the thread, this is ridiculous...

The only problem with Geoff's casting was the lack of chemistry between him and Gretorp. However much like in a fine wine problems with chemistry are all fixed with age. I just wish we gave Geoff enough time to mature into his casting role.
(of course the casting life style just might not be what he wants to do in which case good luck Incontroll).

What about http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=218015
Is it all hype again or will this exist ? (not sure it's the good place to ask)
I'm always very scared when a website asks to confirm my email address before telling me anything about what the website is. But it's perhaps a common practice in ESPORTS. Will you still make videos for them ?

wtf is up with all the people hating on Incontrol in this thread?
He does great stuff for E-sports, does it really matter if some of those project didn't have the outcome everyone wanted?
Sometime stuff goes wrong deal with it, he did far more good than bad things
And yeh sure he makes money of those things too, why shouldn't he? It's his job afterall.
Can't you do something that's good for E-sports AND make money of it?

Hopefully he can get a lot better as a player now and show people how good he really is .

Incontrol deserves some credit for taking the time to enter this thread and directly answering the stated concerns.

On June 26 2011 01:55 Defacer wrote:
The NASL has a sensible need to mitigate their own risk. You on the other hand are an idiot that thinks the world is made of faceless corporations which hand out lucrative opportunities for players, without the players making any sort of commitment or having any skin in the game. Disgusting sense of entitlement. Let me guess, you're an engineering or science student?

is this argument ad hominem?

its a new organization asking for money. expect skepticism. this 'entitlement' concept can work both ways. NASL and its staff must anticipate skepticism because they are new.... Incontrol (in this thread) has already acknowledged NASL was also over-hyped. There is no "entitlement" from skepticism for a brand new over-hyped organization.

On June 26 2011 01:55 Defacer wrote:
The use of the word "we" when representing or speaking on behalf of an organization in interviews is standard in the professional world. It's call being a team player, par for course for anyone that's ever been part of a team or had a real job, and is not indicative of actual ownership and responsibility.
You're reading WAAAAAAAAAY to much into it.

I guess you chose to ignore some content in my earlier post so I'll amplify my point for clarity.

During a very slickly produced interview with IGN regarding the IPL league Incontrol stated "I'm starting to start my own league" during his apology relating to restreaming GSL. Ironically, he makes this statement right after the interviewer warns him everything he says gets placed under a microscope. With this context set up by the interviewer it is interesting Mr. Robinson chose to accept the ownership role of the new league in his comment.
Here Is the IGN IPL Interview - Note Its Date

This is why I believed Incontrol's involvement consisted of more than just being "a contract employee" as stated by an earlier poster.

On June 26 2011 01:55 Defacer wrote:
You're last suggestion of withholding payment is an active attempt to sabotage someone else's businees, just so you can fulfill your own depressing, cynical prophecy.

I think I can sum up many of Incontrol's past errors by stating the he failed to perform due diligence before making his choices. Restream GSL, state NASL will start 7 days before it does, get involved with GosuGuide.com, and other smaller inconsistencies are becoming part of a pattern of over hype and weak execution. Past successes and past errors impact the way one is perceived in the present and future. Add up all these tiny details and I'm definitely not the only person approaching anything the NASL promises with greater than usual skepticism.

If the NASL hands out all $400,000 (tax rules regarding prizes of this size must be respected so the players might not see exactly $400,000 hit their bank accounts) then Mr. Robinson must be given credit for contributing to the start of this fledgling organization.
NASL has been entertaining to watch and the event in Ontario, California is must-see viewing.

SC2 eSports events are fascinating... and sometimes the business behind an SC2 eSports event is even more fascinating. InControl has contributed greatly in this regard.
