It is highly recommended that your read this entire thread - at least until page 10. If you make uninformed opinions that have been answered by the thread, col management or Destiny, you will be banned.

Destiny is kind of smart. He will still make a living. This break-up was necessary but will hurt coL more because of his exposure to the team. Everybody will move on. I would not be surprised if he stayed solo because he was pretty stubborn on teams that he wanted to go to, ROOT was one of his few options but now he will be riding solo unless some miracle happens and reign picks him up.

It's too bad that it had to end that way. Bad for both parties. Complexity lost a valuable player with lots of fame, and Destiny lost a team. Well, since he's famous and pretty good I guess he'll find a new team in no time

Didn't Idra get banned from TL for 90 days? What was that for again?

What was that team that picked up HDStarcraft?

Destiny qualified for IPL2... I'd say that is pretty impressive.

As offtopic as this thread is getting, I will answer those questions, but I am not sure what point related to Destiny you're making with this.

1) IdrA initially got banned for 2 days (iirc he called CrunCher a 'waste of life') then this got extended to 90 days after he posted about his TL ban and encouraged his fans through Twitter to spam Chill with PMs on TeamLiquid to express their (probably negative) opinions of the decision to ban IdrA from TL. Needless to say, that was a bad move on IdrA's part because he effectively angered a hornet's nest, figuratively speaking

2) HDStarcraft got picked up by a team? This is news to me. I checked both Liquipedia and did several google searches and saw nothing about it. However, a few popular casters/players have been picked up by teams before i.e. Vile picking up PsyStarcraft and Sixjax picking up Artosis.

3) Yes, Destiny did qualify for IPL Season 2, proving that he can indeed compete with the best players on NA.

Point 1: People are comparing Destiny's BM to Idra's claiming Destiny is a "bad boy" and deserves what he got, while Idra is a "good boy" since he got picked up by EG. My point is that this is far from true.

Point 2: Sarcastic point about how people are added to teams because they are good players, not big personalities or are able to draw fans to the team. HDStarcraft is exactly the type of person that was added to a team because of his personality. (Your search wasn't that thorough... I have added the TL thread below).
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=234446

Point 3: People keep saying Destiny is no good. He is in GM in NA and qualified for IPL2. I'd say that is pretty good.

I had the feeling that Steven always had other things in priority over professional/league play. This isn't that shocking to me.
Artosis: "It's like Detroit in there." Tasteless: "Lots of shootings and damaged buildings."

In my opinion, I feel bad for Destiny. The one big built-from-the-ground team where I felt he belonged had been assimilated into a much larger multi-game e-sports clan. It's kinda like when you're in a really nice guild on WoW and they merge with a much larger guild to create something huge, but probably with different values which some players may disagree with.

Not saying that I'm not going to continue ROOTing for CompLexity, because I didn't think the merger was necessarily bad plus I like some of their players (i.e. CrunCher, CatZ, Drewbie etc.) However, I hope another team does sign Destiny, maybe Sixjax, Vile, Reign, FXOpen or even Team Dignitas

LOL? he faced Capoch (ZvP) who intelligently went for clever all-ins in 2 of the 3 games. Please don't spread lies like you are right now. He went ahead and BM'ed Capoch but that's another story.

I beleave hes talking about MLG, but you just wanted to flame destiny anyway so i guess you dont really care.

Although Steven himself has given responses himself I'd still like to speak my mind regarding my perception of Steven. I do think it's relevant to some degree considering how he acts and, by extension, present himself to the community is the underlying "issue".

I have spent countless hours on his stream. What keeps me coming back is, besides his gameplay, his intellect.

He is bad mannered at times but I believe it is in good fun. Rarely have I felt that he actually got mad or even irritated about losing a game, even if the opponent says something mingy. I like his rather loose take on the games as individual games which in contrast to his take on the game in general is, for me, spirit hightening and, I don't know. It's a nice thing. "Lose the battle win the war" kind of mentality. At least that's what I feel. I can be wrong however, it's subjective.

Further elaborating I believe this could be a product of him being highly logical. I don't get the feeling he is "anti-establishment", an anarchist or any kind of synonym. He does act in a special way, truly. Taking his outspoken values into account however I don't think anything he does is not based on logic. He is definitely consistent with how he acts and it's easy to follow his train of thought when he explains any of his actions, theorycrafts or similar simply because it's seemingly flawless.

Steven is most definitely very intelligent. I don't think anyone who has spent any number of hours will tell you differently. His theorycrafting is very strong. His arguments are rock solid. His actions are justifiable. He is truly a cerebral. Which brings me to my actual point if it has been unclear so far: Steven has tremendous potential. His will to grow and improve is impressive. If he sticks at it he will undoubtedly be one of the greats.

How does this relate back to the coL-situaion? It doesn't necessarily. But it does present my view on his future possibilities. If the two sides reached an agreement where a departion was for the best I am sure that was indeed for the best.

Okay! I'm sorry for any linguistic or grammatical errors or if anything is unclear !

I felt this intelligent response needed to be quoted as I highly agree with the sentiments. Destiny may seem ill mannered at times, but if you actually hear his arguments and listen to him in a debate his arguments display a level of thought and consideration seen in very few people. I wish more people put as much thought into their beliefs as Steven does.

I was going through the thread wondering the exact same thing, assuming that all the drama was before Destiny's response was edited into the OP, but no, it keeps going after that...

What kind of twisted world view people must have to assume everyone is petty and vindictive and run with it...

Good move for Destiny but I'd miss the random discussions on his stream with people like Catz... Hope they keep practicing or at least messing around together.

Also how did you manage to turn this into another thread about Idra? Honestly...

I think the situation was handled appropriately. I'm glad no more drama came from it or legal action. Destiny sounds legit and I don't think either person is at fault. Destiny wanted his team's careers to progress so he signed the contract. Now, obviously being disrespectful to coL with regards to the contract was not a good way to handle it, the situation itself was dealt with properly. Good luck to Destiny and coL. There should be no drama as no one seems angry.

sad but true

It is beneficial for both parties to part ways. However, Both parties could of handle it better.

At the end of the day, put yourself in destiny's shoes...
1. don't sign and screw ur teammates because you can't make up your mind in a 6hour timeframe for a long term contract
or
2. sign it and sort out the shit storm afterwards.

I'd choose the latter any day esp since any publicity is a good thing in the end.

This is a good opportunity for Destiny. GL to both

Earlier today I was watching HuK stream to about 1.5k viewers, coming off his win at Dreamhack. At the same time, Destiny had 4.5k viewers on his stream. I'm not sure why Destiny needs a team or should even be on one. He's a personality in the SC2 community, much like IdrA (obviously not to IdrA's skill), and his streams are quite entertaining for his viewers. It's perfectly understandable for "corporate image" types to not be interested in having him represent them, but it doesn't mean Destiny is wrong in how he goes about his public image.

Edit: besides, is there not a probation phase for any employment contract in the US? Don't you guys have at least 1 month to decide not to stay in a company?

Law surrounding employment contracts is different in all 50 states. Generally, it's impossible to compel someone to keep working under an employment contract if they refuse, but it is under certain conditions possible to prevent them from accepting other employment as provided by the contract. What those conditions are varies from state to state.

(Where I live, California, has one of the most loose rules on it, which is that unless someone is an executive or other "key" employee, noncompete agreements aren't valid, and in any case they are never valid beyond 6 months.)

Edit: In this instance, from everything said on both sides, it's evident that Destiny's been released from his contract, which means that Complexity won't be trying to enforce any of its provisions against him.

That must have been when HuK first turned stream on because I specifically remember his being around 4.5k at one point.

I'm sad in the sense that I might see destiny in less big tournaments if he isnt in any "team".
However I'd much rather see a happy destiny even if it would end up with him streaming ladder.

Yeah, it jumped way up after a few minutes and people took notice. Regardless, best of luck to Destiny!

Some of the flame in this thread is really ridiculous and those of you either spouting nothingness or flaming destiny or complexity are making a big deal about nothing, like Minigun said, there's too much drama in this thread for what really happened. Why isn't this thread closed yet @_@
