i hope kiwi, if he really is "rich" from playing poker, keeps the ROOT feeling alive as a free agent player. In reality hes gonna sign with a new team though, probably gonna go to dignitas with slush?

Best player on ROOT that is listed there is probably Minigun. Not counting KiWi of course.

Well... Fuck.

FXO is starting to feel like the Yankees. I hate the freaking Yankees.

Wow...

My thoughts... pretty much EXACTLY...

lmao

That's why I loved ROOT, they picked up players and build them up.

what building did they do though? really?

they picked up major which was huge for them. then basically told him we cant support you, even though he was clearly going to be their big hitter. so he understandably left.

they picked up destiny when people still believed he might become a big name, but since then hes fallen back into a streams-a-lot-funny-guy.

the first team to be able to put together any kind of pro house, and none of their players have become better because of it. their best players dont even live in the house.

its all well and good rooting for the underdog but you cant argue that root are the estro of america

QXC, Sheth and Kiwikaki were all unknown and improved during their time with Root. I think those are the 3 best examples. Drewbie and Minigun also got better but I wouldn't consider them top calibre players atm.

They've been together since the beta and picked up a lot of players who later turned out be pretty strong, this includes players like Minigun, DDoRo, Destiny, Major, QXC(was pretty hot early on though) and Sheth.

They've built a lot of great players, so I disagree.

Destiny pretty strong ? Really ? Did u just say that Destiny is pretty strong ?
Yes Sheth and Major are strong(although Major was on root for like 1 week, so i wouldnt say they made him a great player) aswell as QXC, others are just not that level.

If they join Dignitas, super cool shit.

but you're right, whatever team they join will become "a bit more likable" in my book, to say the least ^^

I don't think Destiny is as good as the rest, but I disagree with you in regards to the others not being at that level, and you still named 3 out of the 6 I mentioned, and Minigun is pretty damn good.

I'm completely shocked at the moment over this. It also amazes me how coL can have such a big sc2 roster. That mutli-gaming company has so much money to use for its resources. Its really great to see in e-sports, I'm just shocked and jealous.

What? ROOT is not very top tier and is faaaar from the most expensive team. coL does not have that much money either and isn't a big player in teams nowadays anyway.

I hate to say something negative about a pickup by an organization but I can't help but feel this was a dumb move by coL and ROOT. I mean the only reason I can see that ROOT would choose to sell out to coL is because they already knew KiwiKaki and Slush were leaving.

But why would coL pick up Root when the two top players left is beyond me...

One thing you have to remember is that Complexity is looking for more than just performance. Compare Catz tournament record vs alot of other zergs. and he is kinda terrible (of course he is really skilled but lets face it, his results are just plain terrible) BUUUUT, look how famous he is. anyone would grab him up to have sit on their bench just to bring positive attention to their team. same to a lesser extent with drewbie.

that is probably why the deal still went through. complexity isnt gaining much skillwise without slush and kiwi but they are bringing in the potential for some depserately needed positive attention. (thank CrunCher for ruining that for them) so they will still profit from this.

IdrA hates Kiwi and has repeatedly BM'd him live on multiple streams. Why would Kiwi go to EG?

That's HuK, Idra respects Kiwi, calls him the best protoss outside of Korea. I still don't see either going to EG, they have quite a strong roster.

Erm no, IdrA has called Kiwi bad plenty of times. It could be all part of the hype train though. He's admitted himself he says some things now just to cause a stir.

I think people should keep in mind that the last time IdrA said Kiwi was bad was after the IPL finals. He did that mainly because he had no other choice since iNcontroL cornered him on SotG and asked him how he, a Zerg that always talks about Protoss being unbeatable and Zerg being unable to get big tournament wins, was able to beat a Protoss and win the IPL.

As a ROOT fan I am very disappointed in this news. I feel this will only dilute the shining personalitys on ROOT as they're mixed into coL. I haven't been a fan of Complexity since CS:Source, and it really pains me that I have to see "coL.Destiny" when I watch streams from now on. While I'm sure this is good for the guys, it really sucks for their fans. Very bittersweet, and more bitter then the sweet to me. Horrible disappointed.

Drewbie has more tournament wins than both qxc and Sheth and more prize money earnings than Sheth.

KiWi will probably end up on FnaticMSI. as far as i know, he still lives with Fenix, Drewbie, Catz and TT1, so Knatic would be the most logical

They built up their entire team. As far as I know, ROOT was a bunch of random players in the beta that made friends with each other and decided to start a team together. It's different than what you are thinking of but I think the guy is still making an accurate statement. ROOT wasn't a place where an established pro team picked up unproven players and turned them into stars. It was a bunch of unproven players making a team together and being as good as any pro team out there. Of course, anyone who knew the histories of some of those players could make an educated guess that they'd find some success in SC2. But at the time of ROOT's forming, you really had no idea what guys were gonna turn out to be good consistent SC2 players.

That's disappointing, I hated seeing my favorite team slowly dissolve

Hopefully, KiWiKaKi, Fayth and Slush get on some good teams, I wouldn't be too sad if they followed QXC and Sheth to FXO.
Of course, Liquid'KiWiKaKi would be amazing.

this is shocking news. I thought Root was trying to built their own brand and they have turn down lots of sponsors/takeovers.

Best of luck to Complexity, definitely a good addition and upgrade.
