I've watched his stream, hell, I have a mobile update for his twitter so I can know when he's streaming. But the NA ladder is notoriously blah (yes, I'm in silver on an awful ladder, shut up :V). Love the Proxy Gracktory, but I don't think we can actually judge his relative skill right now. About 36 hours from now, we can start doing that. True, but watching him play, he seems to have really branched out into doing a lot of different things, and has implemented a lot of cheesy timings and all-ins that keep his opponents guessing at least. He might not be quite Korean quality, but comparing his game now to his 2010/early 2011 form is a night and day difference.

Ya pretty much, I don't even think Idra would do well in Code A anymore, and seeing him get completely outplayed in every possible way in two long macro games (one of which Zenio got off to an awful start) did nothing to change my opinion on that. Idra is just an average player that refuses to change his strategies and they have become outdated and stale nowadays

He wouldn't be allowed to represent NA in Blizzcon if he didn't have citizenship =/ Idra represented Korea at IEM World Championships. I don't think Blizzard are checking passports at the door. Regardless, he moved to the US as an adult to study I think, so he's still clearly Korean. If I moved to France and occasionally people asked me to represent France at a Computer Game I would, but I'd still be English.

Fresh players are great and all, but it's pretty funny seeing the heaps of "X is overrated!" "Y is in a slump!" "Z was never good!" claims as soon as MVP, MC, etc lose a set, while players like MMA or Bomber (don't get me wrong, I like both of them myself) are suddenly totally the new best thing after getting a couple wins in GSTL or whatever. This is especially true in MC's case - he's won more major events than any other player is even close to getting to date, yet if he doesn't win this MLG (which is, statistically, very likely), there will be armies of haters claiming he's "done for" and was never good, while if Bomber was in the place he was supposed to be in, and got knocked out right away, all we'd see would be "oh well he'll do better next time BOMBER BEST". I just don't get it - nobody said Jaedong is terrible after he dropped a set to ZerO. Lose 2 games because you fast expanded versus an aggressive terran. Lose 2 games in PvP Get a 3-kill versus Ace, Bomber, July in the GSTL Win Copenhagen Win Dreamhack Get to round of 4 Stars War tournament so far as the only non-Chinese player = IRREVERSIBLE SLUMP, HE IS OLD NEWS don't forget that HUGE ROFLSTOMP ONE-SIDED 3-2 victory of Thorzain v MC while MC was participating in three different tournaments almost simultaneously and all Thorzain did was practice specifically against MC,two wins coming from the same 2-2 timing push and the last game coming from a strategy that was immediately nerfed afterwards.
