Thanks for the writeup. I hope there's some other race single player like the toss missions in WoL but it would probably be really hard to work into the story and I'm already kind of worried for the story. It doesn't seem like they have everything set in stone yet.

What?

They are continuing to disregard lore in the single player.
They have said that they do not want to include too many more units as it gets difficult to balance.
They still will not include LAN.
There was no mention of clan support.
The single player looks largely the same as the single player.

There were more very average decisions in addition to those, and also when Blizzard hints at things, they don't always follow up. I'm really not sure what you were expecting which ended up being surpassed, or what is particularly amazing. Then again I can understand if some people are just excited because it is new, and over time they will take a better look at it.

I'm not trying to be cynical, but I really just don't see what is so amazing about this expansion from what they have shown.

As far as learning through the multiplayer, we learned that not everything works exactly as planned - the different roles for the units didn't work as well as we had planned. We planned to have the immortal be more of a meat shield, and have the hardened shield be one of the core mechanics; however, the burst damage ended up being the more important part of the unit.


This little bit was really interesting to me. I'd love to hear what else didn't end up as planned..

I think I will have to watch that trailer on max resolution and slow motion speed, there HAVE to be easter eggs in there, right?

Is it just me, or do the queens here look bigger and badder? Seems like they have more horns... maybe this is the queen upgrade they scrapped during development?

That baneling mission will be fun. Don't even care the ending is A-move, baneling conga line for the win!

Hurray for the beta but holy crap: It should be about 3-5 months. Really? This is probably needed to make sure the new units are relatively balanced before releasing them onto the public but 3-5 months and a release after D3 means that the game is at least 1 to 1.5 years away from release, no?

EDIT: Meh, not really an easter egg found, pretty much everything covered in the release. Only thing would be the cliff hanger, where we see Raynor stand up and then "a" marine being caught in an explosion. Meant as teaser probably, as we don't see the face of the marine.

One thing I wonder about. At 1:02, any guesses about the green smoke on the pylons?

I wouldn't mind paying for a custom map if it had custom assets and was fun/amazing. Imo, the market system would help inspire people into making amazing customs as long as the standards required for it to be in the marketplace are high.

So Kerrigan is basically redoing what she already did in Brood War (I.E.: collecting her broods 0.o)?

But yeah, amped for the HoTS.
