Its a sad display from the liquid community to be honest =( i feel embarassed
The internet is full of people who can turn something positive into something negative though thats just the way it is =(
Shame on you people of the internet, shame on you

I think the people complaining about the negative comments far outnumber the negative comments at this point : /
GL to FXO, I hope Moonan suprises some people ^^

I have never been into the GSTL but I will def be watching now and cheering for FXO!

I feel the FXO line-up is going to have 3 players that can take games off of some of the koreans. Obviously they are still going to overwhelmingly be underdogs but Sheth, QXC and moonan can all take games off koreans, especially if the opposing team underates FXO. It is going to be interesting to say the least.

The change of the GSTL to a long ass tournament is BAD IMO.
Maybe not generalizing things that much ("the internet", "the liquid community") would help? Stick to a specific point of criticism someone brought up and put arguments against it ... which isnt the same as saying "this is ridiculous", but which is something like "this is ridiculous BECAUSE OF XYZ". If you cant think of any reasons why that other opinion is wrong / bad, maybe they are right and you are wrong or maybe both could be right?

It is going to be interesting to say the least. As long as the GSTL is only a week long tournament it is easily possible to "focus" on those few days, but since it is changed to a loooonger format there might be lapses because each match will be less important and thus the focus level might not be the same. It isnt easy to keep up that focus for a long time and thus FXO will probably have more than one win over Koreans.

The fact is that FXO puts in just as much time then other korean teams. Yes the koreans are better, but the best teams have the best players. This will give FXO the oppertunity to compete and beat the "other" korean teams. They can't beat SlayerS or oGs or IM. But thats just three teams. Even if FXO doesnt win anything, the truth is i will now by a pass just watch white guys play vs koreans. Im not saying a have faith in FXO im just saying that the big picture very rewarding for non-koreans.

FXO will have massive trouble against Slayes, oGs, ST, MVP and IM. All five of these teams either have a few top level Code S players or a bunch of Code S players.
They can beat Ho Seo if they have a guy who can four gate San. After him, they don't have any Code S level or even really Code A level players except for VansVans.

I can't believe that ANYBODY would have ANYTHING bad to say about this move. Even in the extreme worst case scenario(they get all-killed every match... which won't happen) they'll come out better for it. Not only will they get to practice with Koreans, but they'll see what it's like to live in a real team house, and get experience for their up and coming house. I would say with a certainty everyone on FXO's roster will come out of this as better players.
Also the people saying "oh we should have sent a better team", how dumb are you? It's not as if FXO is taking up another team's spot, anyone who wants to go can go.... but only FXO(and FXOboss) ponied up the money and had the balls to do it. I know I will be supporting them in every match, and will buy a GSTL pass for the first time.
Good luck FXO!

I hope the last player is Strelok, didn't he just sign with a FXO affiliated team?

Great news. Awesome to see more foreigners in Korea. Even when FXO gets smashed, the players will only improve and the team will become a force to be reckoned with.

No thanks. Short tournaments generally suck. Dreamhack is the only 'short tournament' thus far with production values worth a damn. What part of GSL being a league do you not understand?

Thats your opinion, but it isnt "the truth" and certainly not the same for everyone. What is true however is that the GSTL was GOMs only really short tournament and now they changed it. Since your "main issue" with short tournaments is production value I dont see what your point is because GOM has top notch production value for everything.
Having different types of tournaments is a good thing and the duration is one way to make tournaments different. Apart from some non-Korean tournaments we have no chance to see how Korean pros play under "constant pressure for a day" like they would have to in an MLG where they play games all day. Sure they play all day in their training houses, but thats not the same as a day long competition and such things would be nice to see ... maybe non-Koreans could have an advantage there.

Yo can't wait sheth and his ownage manner to own up korea.

From the players perspective tho, this gives much more opportunity for the lesser known players on the Korean teams to play. Those Koreans that aren't in GSL practice every day for a Code A qualifier that happens once a month and is extremely hard to qualify tho. At least this gives the lesser known players something to train for and hopefully motivate the Korean scene a bit more.

At least this gives the lesser known players something to train for and hopefully motivate the Korean scene a bit more. Sure it might, but so could some short tournaments which dont fit into the training schedule of the major players so they wont attend them. So would a 2v2 tournament. There are lots of very different things you can do with short tournaments and the "Korean way" of having long and preplanned and "builds trained for a specific opponent" types of tournaments arent the only good way of presenting Starcraft but sticking to one type seems a bit boring IMO.
The long tournaments - which are broadcasted during the week - are only accessible to school kids and students mostly, but not really to hard working adults who dont have the brainpower to follow a Starcraft match after their 10 hour workday. Thus it might be a good idea to add short tournaments on the weekend ... to open this eSport to more viewers. Following a 2 month long tournament takes extreme dedication and time, but a 3-day weekend tournament is easier to follow from start to finish than that. So "growing eSports" isnt about providing more and more and more content, but a lot more about the QUALITY of content (and I dont mean flashy lights, explosions and fancy camerawork but rather having a dramatic turn of events due to clever planning and creative ideas).

This thread has officially made my head hurt.
I am under the impression that the general community wants me to PAY for another team to go to Korea... Its not going to happen.
They also think that teams with 3 known members are going to compete in the GSTL... Again not going to happen. You need 8 members. 8 who have taken games of koreans and are capable of doing so.. I dont know many teams with that many members who have already played korean players regularly and consistently and understand the way the korean scene plays.
I am truly disappointed.
For those who are being encouraging, thaank you for being the bright light in the dark depths of teamliquid.

Whoa this is cool! I haven't read the whole thread but it's going to be awesome ^_^

wish you best luck FXO, renember you're there to play starcraft, but dont forget to have an awsome time as well

After having counted the first 200 posts in this thread, I've got
106 positive 38 neutral (or with a mix of both positive/negative) 56 negative
I mean, it's good that a majority of people are delighted by this development and offer their support, but I think the TL community can do even better than that.
