First off, you are wrong. Demuslim had done very well this year, taking games off top Koreans, being top of his group in NASL and preforming better than most NA players. Also, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there are professional athletes in this world who live with their girlfriends and wives. These same athletes win things like the Super Bowl and World Series. I am not sure where people get the idea that most pro-gamers must be celibate monks who only focus on SC2. But the arguing that relationships are a distraction from practice or a professional career just feeds into the "basement gamer" stereotype. pro athletes don't have their wife or GF around them at the training ground though and to those saying that EG is good from a marketing perspective? really? look at the mainstream sports, all the big sponsors use their top dogs in their marketing campaigns, you don't see random dudes who fall out of the first round at wimbledon in Nike adverts do you?
Not that I wish to imply incontrol gets knocked out first round but he is far from a top player currently. A top NA player sure but no one is going to call him world class right now. He is very popular, he speaks well, when you see him he is visually distinct (He doesn't look like the stereotypical no life basement dweller gamer that some people picture of progammers) ,people know he is EG, so he is a good person to use. They could use Puma but lets face it while he is world class (imo) his English skills are not up to scratch for marketing.

lol, you have no idea do you? There are a lot of pro athletes who bring their women to their training grounds/camps etc, especially in individual sports.

i think people don't realize that real athletes only see their wives/husbands/significant others in the off-season. it is completely taboo to actually visit their families while they are practicing and playing. reality check people.

Regardless of how he has done in the past, Incontrol has a ton of fans who would love to see him win. As someone who grew up in the Boston area, I have years of experiance cheering that has a team that has a history of not making it to the finals. This has never stopped us from cheering or hoping every year that our teams would make it.
If any of the Western EG players made it to the finals of MLG, the fans would lose their minds. Barcrafts across the country would freak out with every push. If it were Geoff up there, I sure people would rush the stage after the win.
If you're really a fan, you will stick around to see if that happens, regardless of where they place over the years.

It's funny how people bring the girls in the house up so much like there tearing them away from the game or not supporting them. I think they know there in a gaming house they understand what's going on. There not saying oh your playing that damn game, its there damn job.

You're kidding? Baseball players 154 games over 180 days of the year. Basket ball plays 81 games in the regular season alone. Both seasons last longer than half a year. Players go home at the end of the day and see their families. During the play offs and finals they might be a bit more hardcore, but people go home to see their families. They are professional athlets, not memebers of the armed service on active duty.

Are you sure about that? Are you sure that the families of pro athletes never come to the club house to visit? Did you know that Grubby lives with his wife, which is in the same place that his computer is? Did you know he plays SC2 on that computer? Did you know that he got married during while being a WC3 player, which I guess he was pretty good at? And don't say that losing teams do not get sponsors. The Cubs have been losing for 103 years. The Redsox lost forever, but had no issues getting people to invest in ad space. The New England Patriots didn't win a division championship for over 10 years. If teams can go for over 100 years without winning anything worth while, we can let EG and its players have a bad half a year.
first half of your post I agree with completely. People bringing up the EG's girls, dogs, etc are out of their fucking minds. The second half is an awful analogy and I wish people would stop using it. Ignoring the fact that MLB and eSports are a universe apart in scale, even those losing teams would trade, cut or in some cases completely gut their rosters in attempts to start winning again. Also, you're only looking at championships, nobody with a brain should expect EG to win every championship or even a major once a year. Baseball seasons are what? 182 games? The Red Sox were at least contenders and a VERY good team for the majority of their drought. Enough about the real sport analogies though, they suck.
The major reservation I have with this whole ordeal is that EG to me as someone who has been involved in 'esports' since 2001, I've always seen EG as a premiere team and if you get that EG tag it means you're a goddamn amazing player in your respective game. I don't feel a lot of the current pro gamers on big teams, not only EG are really deserving of the title. Something is wrong when you have 'professional' players, consistently being bounced out of major tournaments by random NA players (sponsored or not in some cases) that play in their freetime outside of work or school.
We have pros that:
1) Train in Korea 2) Receive a Salary to play professionally 3) Live in dedicated Team Houses
Yet are still as stated before, bounced out by amateurs and free time players. This leads me to believe the conclusion is one of a few possibilities (certainly there are more, just making a point)
1) Some players currently on professional gaming teams aren't good enough to compete professionally 2) Some players on professional gaming teams aren't training enough 3) This game is extremely volatile and is so unpredictable it's nigh impossible to be consistent
Well #3 seems impossible seeing the success of the top players, so I'd imagine it's #1, #2 or both.

So, when they train very hard and have a lot of talent, there must be another reason for the lack of results. They said they do more for their sponsors in a week than other teams do in a year. They also mention European teams not doing this stuff (sponsor love) at all. On the other hand European progamers seem to be a bit stronger at the moment. Maybe EG need to analyse the reasons for the collective slumping with the same effort they monitor the business aspect of their players (tracking streamviewer numbers and whatnot)..
i hope you will do better in the future :-]

People just want to make a case out of anythinf don't they? I sincerily hope they don't think in real life situations the way they act on the internet.

You seem to be implying that the mafority of players from every team are doing great, and that only EG has 1-2 players doing well. They're not "colelctively slumping", they've said they're playing the best they've ever played before. I don't think you understand how incredibly hard it is to win a tournament, or even do well. Most tournaments these days are practically Code A difficulty. There are people in Code B right now that are capable of winning Code S, but they don't. They're in Code B because it doesn't just take skill to win, it takes some luck (it terms of lets say bracket draws) Idra for example has always had a stupidly hard first round in every tournament except for this past MLG. Not using this as an excuse for his losing, but not everyone had to face a Code S player as frequently as he did. Not everyone is going to get noticed and not everyone is going to win relative to their skill. It took Hero a really long time to get to where he is now, even though his skill has been up there for a long time.

GF and wives come to the club house, sure, but you don't see GF and wives on the training pitch or hovering around a training session, and tbh I wasn't blaming EG's poor results on their GFs, there are plenty of obvious reasons why they are performing poorly

she likely got knocked out by another professional player who dedicates their life to training and competing, not an amateur who plays tennis on her free time.

What planet are you people from?
As someone who has worked with dozens of pro athletes, if there family isn't with them, their entourage is and if there entourage isn't, their mistresses are. Do you people really think pro athletes live in seclusion? You people are so lost.
And if you don't believe some random Internet person, just turn on a fucking television or read a newspaper. During the NBA playoffs, Kevin Durant is hugging his mom SECONDS before tipoff. LeBron James' mom was kissing every player as they walked through the tunnel during halftime and after games. Eva Longoria used to be in the stands for all of Tony Parker's games. Khloe Kardashian was at Lamar's games before he got exiled. The WAGS all travel with the English national team during the World Cup. During the Dream Team documentary, Ewing was on the topless beach with his wife and John Stockton was walking around Barcelona with his kid on his shoulders and his wife by his side.
It really is amazing how retarded the TL community is. You people talk about shit you have no idea about and you're generally fucking clueless.

Well, there is a reason the BW players have this unwritten rule about not dating. It was obvious that their performance got worse while seeing someone. Imagine having your gf live in your practice house then.
But on the other hand, those guys want to win aswell so they need to practice 10-12 hours a day to keep up and they understand that. The guys in the EG house are in that house because they don't have being the #1 in them. The house ain't some serious practice ground and the players don't grind hard so having the girls, dogs and 101010 other people running around there doesn't matter in the end anyway.

This is the biggest crock of shit I've ever read. They don't want to be #1? Give me a break. Thats as stupid as Skip Bayless saying Kevin Durant didn't want to win badly enough and its why the Thunder lost the NBA Championship.
Having their gf's and dogs around makes the players happy. Players perform better when they are happy. You do know that MVP/Nestea/MC, the 3 most successful players in all of sc2 live in their own apartments, have girlfriends, and do things outside of sc2 right?
Don't people remember Byun's puppy? Greg has had his cat for how long? No one ever talked about it being a distraction before he moved to the EG Lair. Why? Cause its stupid.
