I know nvs. has an illustrious tradition of bashing hosts/shows/players in all threads and that surely makes him qualified to talk about where we need to go and how to get there but I am going to go ahead and assume the dude who has been making this his life for 20 or so years knows something in the realm of 100000x more on the subject and has DONE more and WILL do more than captain hate nvs.
Have to agree with this. I actually really love reading incontrols and idras posts on TL. They're almost always very interesting and informative, with just a slight hint of troll.

Wheat was spot on with his reaction, the guy was not very eloquent, however his point was somewhat valid (I said somewhat)
It does seem that we have a very 'wow top 8 in a bracket full of koreans' mentality, but that is not particularly a bad thing.
Demus did AWESOME at the tournament, kicking ass left right and center and eventually falling out for a 9-12 finish. That's no small feat in a tournament as stacked as MLG was. Let us celebrate the success of our players, but we do need to mind that we don't fall into the mentality of 'well shit theres 8 koreans, lets hope that foreigners finish 8-16 and the foreigner who finishes 8th did an unbelievable feat.'
What we should think is 'Awesome performance, played REALLY well but lost to a great player.' None of the 'damn Korean larky. We're all players, and all human, and if we raise the Koreans to god like status then we will eventually fall out of the running because in our heads we already put them above us. I look at every tournament now and think 'wow, a top 16 finish in this tournament would be awesome for any body.' At the recent MLG, I'd say anything above a top 12 finish was incredible, not because there were koreans there, but because all the players were FUCKING awesome! That caller clearly thought that 'yeah, there were koreans and we're celebrating that someone finished top 10, thats not good enough.' That is a good mentality to have if your a coach, or a manager of a team, or even a player as motivation to play harder and train harder. But as a fan, we should be looking at the level of player, not the race of the players. Yes Koreans are great, but also lets not forget just how awesome the foreign representation were. Nani was awesome, HuK did amazingly well, Grubby suprised us, Demuslim represented a non-existant force in esports causing a great pride to be English. As a fan we should be celebrating performances, as players coaches and managers they should be celebrating sucess. a top 10 finish in a stacked 32 man tournament is insane. They should celebrate. If it was a top 20 result in a less stacked tournament, of 100 then no it is not great to parade it around, mild satisfaction should be good, but then there will have to be a part of their mentality which goes, 'well shit, the bracket wasn't too strong, 10 koreans made the top 10 and I know that I can beat them with more practice. I will be the one who will push myself and my players to be winning these tournaments.'
The last thing is if you read this incontrol, is if you could ask Demuslim what he thinks of the state of esports back home, and if he ahs any plans of helping to make England and Britain in general a better force when it comes to SC2. Because I am getting sick of us only ever doing well in Fifa :[

Wheat may have reacted a bit too fast and then vented a little too much, maybe not perfect but I don't think it is as bad as it is described here.
I feel the community is much too eager to have drama and overreacts to a lot of things that happen. Basically the community is just doing what they accuse Wheat of doing, in my opinion.
Sums up what I thought about it pretty well. djWHEAT would have to do something way way worse than that in order for me to lose my respect for him. Like mooning the cam at an MLG or something.

Yeah, passive-aggressively saying "well you only placed 9-12" is really fucking dumb when you consider that he beat three damn good players in Nestea, Haypro (he's better than people think), and Grubby, while dropping to an absolute PvT monster in Oz and viOLet who's had Demu's number since WC3

That would be awesome and you know it.

I think this was the greatest show I ever watched out of inside the game.
Everyone who disagrees need to shut up, simply put you're wrong. Wheat put his foot down, hell he doesn't even need to take caller questions especially from a bunch of immature people (because most sensible people usually wont call-in).
I mean really one guy sounded super-high and asked if Tasteless was doing heroin or something, another asked when DoTA 2 is coming out. I'd be pretty mad too. Then to top it off some arrogant turd calls in acting like a condescending prick even though he has no right to judge and has never accomplished anything of note to anyone here decides to take a dump on a player that preformed well.
If his defense is, "Well I just wanted to know if we're patting ourselves on the back too much for getting less than first to Koreans" the answer is no. Koreans have several advantages over foreigners and doing well against that is deserving of praise. Aside from that Huk got 3rd, he's not a Korean last I checked. That's pretty good.

we didnt celebrate a top 12 finish
we celebrated demuslim beating nestea.
also i think everyone in the call got the same feeling wheat did besides painuser, but painuser is a little slow on the uptake anyways. you can see demuslims face when he answers the "what place did you get" question. im pretty sure the man came on knowing the answer to that and just said it the way he did because he was nervous, but oh wells.

The caller definitely took awhile to articulate his point(which is valid somewhat imo) and the approach was really questionable but I don`t think he should have received the hate he did. Neither should Wheat recieve any heat. The Micheal Phelps analogy is laughable though if you consider the context of the callers point. Big difference in peoples view between a 2nd place finish and 9th.

Huge loss of respect for Wheat, Incontrol, and Painuser. A man calls in asking a question not so eloquently, and wheat and incontrol start acting like two-year olds insulting him left and right, and then Wheat says "F--- You!" and hangs up on him. And you can honestly say that Wheat was in the right?
wake up. This was a public internet call. Of course you are not going to get the most eloquent or rehearsed questions -- Its up to the hosts to hold themselves in a good manner and answer the question. The guys intentions were hilariously misunderstood by the hosts and it was hard to watch.
I don't know why Wheat is such an exception to this whole "manner-code" we have. No hard feelings, I just wanted to express my point.

Yeah its all about the eloquent. Nothing about the passive-aggressive. Like iNcontroL said in the show: "so what place did you finish?" - thats a fuck you in sports if you know the answer isn't nr1.
Ahwell, i'm done with this topic, can only get worse from here. Already responding to a guy who's saying 'his intentions were misunderstood'.. I think Demuslims intentions were to place 1st, apparently the caller misunderstood. I think wheat organised a show where he paid respect to demuslims run at MLG, think somebody misunderstood that intention. Maybe teamliquid misunderstood the intention of blizzard with starcraft2.. Dunno, only i thing we Really can respond to is What Has Happened.
Have fun! And repent.

It was extremely disrespectful of the caller to ask Demuslim what place he came in. I don't care how awkward or nervous you are (and by the way, the caller seemed pretty articulate and comfortable in my opinion), it's rude as hell and counterproductive to call out a player personally like that.
If you call into a show and disrespect one of the hosts directly, you shouldn't expect anything less than getting shit on. If he didn't mean to be a dick, fine, but he was, and he should have thought about what he was going to say more before calling in. djWHEAT and everybody else who hosts shows with callins encourages their viewers to write their question down beforehand to avoid the chance of misspeaking and being awkward, there's no excuse.

Ok, so emotions were clearly on the surface in this episode. I think I understand what you were going for r4pture, and I felt that they were way to hard on you. Especially not letting you speak/finish and then mocking you afterwards.
I will say though that sometimes it happens. I don't know if Wheat had a bit of an off day or something like that, which happens. In any case I liked the show and it's nice to be able to turn in again thanks to what I assume is a volunteer making the mp3 for us. Thanks for that dude! And the rest of you! :-)

I gained more respect for Wheat and iNcontrol, how dare people abuse ITG, one of THE only shows you can just call into and talk to community pillars. If you want be a bitch, be ready to get ripped apart, in fact I expect nothing less. How can anyone make a call like that, then get butt hurt when he doesn't get off scott free. I swear its people like that, who are giving this community a bad name. If your an awkward nerd who passively attacks the guests without knowing it, you should never call anyone, EVER! Do everyone a favor, and just stay in your parents basement where no one knows who you are, trust me, no one wants to know you, because your an awkward annoying nerd for a reason.

Just heard the mp3, wow Wheat must have some serious anger problems.

Maybe because hes sick of people abusing the kind gesture of even allowing people to call in @ all. In fact after last nights round of callers, I would not be surprised if they stop accepting calls all together. You mother fuckers who are siding with the fuck wads who called in are really pissing me off. In no way shape or form was that call acceptable, and if I was wheat, It would have gone a lot worse for everyone involved. Anger issues? If wheat sat there and let his show get butt fucked by a piece of shit wana be troll, I would have SPIT OUT MY CEREAL. But what actually went down was he hung up on the mother fucker, than trashed him for being an out of line shitty ass caller, get fucking real, pieces of shit get shit on where I come from.

I sometimes wonder if maybe they should have people submit questions via email/twitter and then call the people who asked good ones or something so that the person asking can follow up with clarification or whatever. You might end up with trolls submitting good questions and then acting like idiots once they're on air, but then you can just hang up on them and answer the intelligent question anyway.
Or, just do away with the callins altogether and do it entirely over submitted questions.
