Jeff Gordon is the odds on favorite to win. He doesn't. Joe Shmoenoname wins and Gordon gets 7th instead. Zomg that's totally awesome that a lesser known racer won his first major race. It's a shame Gordon didn't, but he still placed well. Not only that, but it's a marathon of races week after week (8 solid months of tournaments for SC2 coming, on average 2 a month not counting the GSL since that's a multi-month tournament). Sure, SC2 doesn't have any sort of points system where they crown da bestest of the bestest, but they sort of do. MLG has their final tournament for all of the marbles. Blizzard is going to have something akin to this too this year. Anyway, to finish my analogy: Joe Shoenoname won a race, but finishes outside of the top 20 the rest of the year. Is his win that epic in the scheme of things? No. Gordon places top 10 in all of the races, winning a few and eventually wins the championship. In this little story, the Koreans are the odds-on favorites to win anything they do. It's just the nature of things. If a foreigner wins, it's big news. If a Korean does, it's business as usual. But if a Korean wins, say, 75% of the tournaments this year, does the 25% won by foreigners really matter all that much? Or, is it a feel-good story (for non-Koreans) that foreigners are always placing well. A number of them in the top 10, a foreigner placing in the top 3 of each of the major tournaments this past weekend. MKP winning is quite the epic thing because he's always been the bridesmaid and never the bride. Next time he doesn't win it won't be a problem. There won't be a "how disappointing" movement in the community. I'm rambling a bit, but it's late/early and I've been kept up thanks to severe weather and tornadoes, so here's the TL:DR version: We're celebrating someone finishing a lot better than what was expected of them. We're celebrating the fact that places 1-X aren't filled in by ONLY the X Koreans that were in the event. We aren't begrudging the Koreans any of their wins because, simply put, they deserve the wins they earn. We are a community and need to act as such if we want to be taken seriously by those outside of it. People like Rapture who do nothing but stir stuff up harm the community, one djWHEAT helped build. It's his show. He doesn't have a boss (other than sponsors but honestly I think he can do it without them) to answer to. You asked to talk to the manager and spit in his face; how does that shoe leather taste since he roundhouse kicked you into being nothing but another internet meme?

My respect just went through the roof. Finally someone telling how it is, not media-trained, not the cliche, not the standard 'ye its all e-sports, the community is everything, we all love to hear your negative comments because that means you are watching!" happy giddy stuff. With sc2 the community exploded, and whenever a community gets big, it diverses. Into nice guys, into passionate people, but sadly it doesn't stop there. It also diverses into trolls, whiners, negative bashers, moaners etc. To finally see someone step up for themselves and the rest of the passionate community did me some good. Altho rapture was the trigger who released it all, so ofcourse he didn't deserve all of the rant as it was build up.. Still. Loved the episode, it was real.. Not the media-trained sportsman after the game-interview.

I wonder why nobody talked about Idra once again disappointing, DRG's amazing run (honestly he had the most amazing run at MLG), HerO beating JYP once again @assembly etc I don't understand why it's newsworthy when a player is eliminated in the first round of the losers bracket. Losira was eliminated there too. How much time should the show devote to that? Idra will win tournaments and also get eliminated in spectacular displays of "lol wtf". He was rightly criticized for the games against alive, But simply getting matched up and losing to FXOz and Nestea is a non-story.

nowadays like 95% of the time is devoted to things outside the game with a special emphasis on drama which is pretty sad as there is much more interesting stuff to talk about

Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side. But then I spent so many nights Thinking how you did me wrong. And I grew strong! And I learned how to get along! So now you're back from out of space. I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face. I should have changed that stupid lock! I should have made you leave your key! If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me. Go on now, go, walk out that door! Just turn around now‚ cause you're not welcome any more. Weren't you the one who tried to hurt (crush) me with goodbye? Did I crumble, Did I lay down and die? Oh no, not I! I will survive! Oh and as long as I know how to love I know I stay alive. I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give. And I'll survive! I will survive! Hey, hey.

his point was 100% valid and was only made more apparent by the way they reacted. oh, and they need to get their facts straight: michael phelps didn't get second place. he got 9 gold medals. if he had gotten second place no one would have cared.

Honestly i think his point was valid, but the way he opened up the call and the way he presented his point made it seem more like he was trying to troll. I hope that they wouldn't have gotten so mad if he had presented his point better, since it is valid.

There is so much you are missing.. Like the show, the point, the analogy, cognitive abilities to comprehend other people. They said "What if a show would have michael phelps on as guest..." The 'what if', kinda makes it an example for you to understand their situation/predicament about guests and attention. I guess despite their efforts they are not reaching you. Last ditch attempt: if a sport show, in my country (not renowned for american football) had a NFL athlete on, his team got 2nd place at the superbowl - would you simply not invite him because he was 2nd? Would you ignore him during the show because he was 2nd? Although for my country's standard an athlete who's team got 2nd in the superbowl would be amazing..? It would be news, just like Demuslim's run at MLG. The contrary would also be news: MC/DRG/Nesteaetc losing to nothiing but foreigners. Would inside the game get Mc on? I bet either way they would be happy with MC as guest, but the language barrier, the korean timezone, MC's own obligations in korea would kinda make it hard. So they have demuslim, that gathered people's attention with his great Run, they cover his run and celebrate his progress. He beat a couple of greatest players out there. Hell in the LR thread people were really impressed during the Nestea games, impressed so much that it went on a lot of pages. Apparently he did something special, so they cover it in "inside the game". I really can't recall they named the show 'Demuslim ended 9th - lets all celebrate this achievement! - special". They covered his progress as a player, his great run vs some of the biggest names.. Could someone tell me whats wrong with that? Would you rather have no-guest instead? Or MKP who can't communicate in English in an all 'foreign-show'? And besides that, its a internetshow covering e-sport news and developement. Everyone in the community can understand that a headline as "A korean wins MLG winter arena" wouldn't really be news. Demuslim beating Nestea straight up was. Ahwell maybe djWheat was right just be saying (and repeating) "we can't make everyone happy". Luckily I was one of the people who was happy with yday's episode.

![]() What I didn't like was what happened after that. When Incontrol was reading R4pture's reply from tl.net with some sort of retard-voice impression, he was trying to either be funny or demean R4pture. It actually looked pretty sad when in around middle of the post even Incontrol himself noticed neither of them was happening. Wheat asking the regular caller to back him up. Come on guys, just let it go.

Now it's kind of like SOTG with more yelling.
