And I agree completely with what he said about Husky. A caster for gold leaguers that tries desperately to get viewers and abuse IdrA's replays to try getting some attention. It's sad, but unfortunately both casters don't have future in the SC2 commentating scene, so they have to get as many viewers in their sad channels, and that didn't help IdrA. I really hope to see IdrA coming back to Korea thou, I feel that Korea is his place, here in US I feel that IdrA is playing against inferior players that either get lucky or cheese/abuse the hell out of the game to try beating IdrA, for example scrubs like Cruncher, a player that I personally have destroyed in the ladder numerous times managed to beat IdrA thanks to the sad state of balance. At least in Korea he will be playing players of his level and even if he gets cheesed you know you are not losing to mediocre master level players.

Simple, the competitive scene would again be only based in Korea, and it would be a shitty scene at that since most koreans still watch BW. And as for the DaggothReborn, lol at no one watches husky and HD when their most recent videos all have more viewers then the most viewed GSL / NASL / IPL / TSL3 VODs. I don't watch them anymore, but most casual followers do. And those are the people that will ultimately dictate if SC2 will make it mainstream or not. So we should all be basically thanking the heavens for youtubers or there would be no way leagues like NASL could exist. The only viewers that watch HD and Husky, specially Husky are the gold leaguers and below players, or the extremely casual players, like team-game chumps and players that spend their time playing custom games and still trying to beat the campaign. That being said, those players are NOT the ones supporting E-sports nor SC2, those players watch the ocassional cast and are still trying to beat a 6 pool in the ladder on their daily 4v4s, they are NOT the ones that pay for a season in the GSL or NASL, nor the ones helping balance the game by playing at the highest level (600+ masters), therefore your comment is completely wrong. Having THE BEST NA player ever, being flamed by gold leagues that watch casters for noobs like Husky, IS NOT a good trade-off. Regardless, IdrA doesn't care, nor anyone that matters, the only players that get offended by IdrA or are in this Anti-BM-IdrA crusade are exactly those same noobs that watch Husky, which leads me to believe you are one of them. I do think Idra is really important for the Sc2 scene, firstly because hes a very popular player who believes in solid play (which can only be a good influence on newer players) and also because his drama is very entertaining.

Some of this is correct however I think you're missing one very important point. The POTENTIAL for the casual fanbase of people like HD and Husky to get more competitive and hardcore with Starcraft or Esports in general is there. They undoubtedly help with the growth of sc2. Whenever Husky casted in the TSL he would post a video on youtube and more people would be watching the tsl stream than usual because of that. No one cares if gold leaguers are flaming pro's, as long as the interest and views is there it's a positive thing for everyone.

Constructive critisism though: That's definately too many editor's notes (I think), and it is kind of annoying (to have the context of almost every statement explained (like this (to make sure the readers understand (the message)))). + Show Spoiler + In journalism there are always ways to avoid this kind of explanatory referential and phatic communication + Show Spoiler + But then again, I've studied journalism and communication. Perhaps I'm just being elitist and everyone else is fine with this form.

So... how should pepole who are completely casual start watching SC2, in your opinion? I started watching SC2 with Husky and HD (I don't ever watch them now though), and many more pepole who now watch GSL/NASL etc etc did so as well.

I don't mean to offend anyone, I've got offers on the table to study physics next year, but us physicists are probably the most easy to stereotype nerds and its not a big step to imagine Idra applying to study physics. He's right when he says his bm slightly blown out of proportion. I think a lot of people can respect him for speaking his mind, personally I would trust somebodies opinion more if they always spoke their mind instead of never wanting to hurt anybodies feeling (not that that's bad, a happy medium is probably best). My problem with Idra is sometimes he speaks his mind unnecessary. if you're answering questions about other players then its fine to speak your mind about them, but he sometimes just insults people during interviews when its not really related to the question. I can't think of when it was, but there was some interview on stage at MLG Dallas where he insulted Huk before he'd even been asked about him, and its not the only time he's done something like that. Yeah that kind of goes back to him being at the far end of speaking his mind, instead of a happy medium. He thought "Huk is bad", so he said it. There you go. I guarantee you many progamers think in similar ways, but they just restrain themselves. At times that is good, but I wish other players would show some personality. For almost every player I watch, all I know about them is their play, a couple of photos, and maybe some pre or post game close up reactions. IdrA is a very defined human being though, and that's so much more enjoyable as a spectator. Feels like you are rooting for someone instead of just the race you play or the builds some player always does.
