I actually want to get this straight. This annoyed me when you casted also, but I dunno if inc explained it right. You say xel'nahguh, as in, "nah, that's not right." It's pronounced "nohguh," as in "ah, now I understand."

I really noticed today during the TLO and Grubby games that gretorp spent 80% of the time in the early game looking at TLO, when i really wanted to see if grubby would do any strange builds. I doubt he was doing it on purpose, probably just doing it because he is terran, but it was a little bit grating.

Hi NASL Crew/Casters/Players/Whoever reads this.
Just wanted to compliment you guys on your excellent improvements over the past few weeks. I can honestly say you guys lost me with your first week but I was pulled back and just dropped $25 dollars on the HD Pass. This week's cast had me sold. Props ESPECIALLY to Gretorp. You sir, are the star example of practice makes perfect. I honestly did not think I would come to enjoy your casting as much as I do. You compliment iNcontroL amazingly, and adapted yourself over the past weeks to fit whoever casts with you. Props, sir. This is no easy feat. Beyond that, can't wait to see what else comes up. My one grief is the lack of ability to downscale quality of the vods as my interwebs cannot load 1080p in one go, and it sucks having to wait an hour or so to buffer before I can watch. That being said, it has been addressed and I know jTV is working on it so I can hardly complain.
Again, thanks for the effort guys. You rock, and have a dedicated fan in me.

The major problem with NASL is the tournament format. There are too many matches and no one can keep up with the results. A tournament format like GSL on a montly basis would be the best thing.

All casters seem to adopt the position of one of the players to a certain extent, it's certainly not confined to the NASL. I didn't mind so much with Idra, since he's obviously best positioned to talk about the Zerg player, but it can sometimes lead to not understanding how the other player is reacting.
Also, on the off chance you read this Incontrol, despite my little nit picking criticism on here, I thought your reaction on SOTG to questions on what NASL could do to improve itself, as opposed to just being treated like any other league in the rundown was really important. I appreciate the NASL being so open with the community. It deserves respect, it shouldn't mean that NASL is constantly in this defensive posture.

I think you guys are doing amazing atm, really nothing at all to whine about, except maybe get IdrA on more ^^

I'm going to have to agree. The more NASL I see, the more I like it. Week to week the improvements are obvious and make it more fun to watch. Thanks for the great Starcraft!

I'm not arguing criticism is invalid when directed at us simply because other people do it. I am arguing that the tone/way people criticize over issues spread throughout the community can be construed as less than constructive because they are being jerks about it.
thanks though, it'd be bad if other people read my post as "don't ever criticize us for things other people do." People are assholes. I agree with that. 1 out of 10 people are interested in helping you, the other 9 just want to take a shot.

Dear Gretorp/InControl,
I find your casting awesome! InControl has me laughing almost every game, and I think Gretorp's analysis is sick. When I compare watching NASL to watching HD bumble his way through his own tournament (can't remember who is playing, what their race is, usually spoils the game with his obvious bias since he watched the game earlier) I can't imagine why people are complaining so much about your style. I do agree at times that there are some words and phrases that are either used wrong or too much, but I love they way you guys handle it. You joke about it, or you troll the trolls on this thread by intentionally over-repeating it. I just all around love your style and I usually can't wait to watch the VODs when I get home (the bandwidth vs 1080p thing means the stream is unwatchable for me).
I feel like the trolls on this thread are like... i don't know... a cop chasing... um... another really slow guy! LOLZ!
Peace to the Gretorp/InControl duo. Can't wait to see how Idra does tonight (and I'm dreading when Husky comes on as he claims he will soon).

Just to get it straight -- a lot of the people who are posting concerns in this thread aren't "trolls". That's a dismissive thing to say and it makes you look like an uninformed ass. Many people, myself included, are paying members of NASL and simply want to see as refined a product as possible. We actually enjoy the matches and *some* of the production choices. We are fans.
Criticism is part of the building process. If you can't see the difference between criticism and crude trolling, I don't know what to tell you.

Chill, no worries man. I love your casting and couldn't care less if you mispronounce a map. Misusing a word entirely is completely different from slightly mispronouncing a word IMO. iNcontroL: I might have to stop listening to your casts while I'm at work because you make me LOL too often with your hilarity. Keep up the good work guys.

I think incontrol needs to tone down the coaching style commentary (a natural thing for him, hes a great coach). Hes doing it a little less recently though so maybe im just being harsh.
Gretorp is growing on me. His slightly daft demeanor and at times awkward jokes actually make me laugh. A lot.
Its getting freaking good. iNc and Gretorp are seeming to take it less serioualy, theyre becoming more comfortable, enjoying it more. Its good, lets fucking rock.

Hello NASL organizers, I'm an avid fan of SPL and the MSL/OSL from the BroodWar days.
I have never played SC2 despite having played BW in ICCUP quite often and honestly I don't play video games at all anymore. However, I find myself tuning in to watch at least 2-3 matches every single night on the NASL. I understand how the game works, but the casters also help feel in gray areas for me in regards to strategies, etc. I think it's important for you to know that I have been watching since the first week because it sparked my interest as being a five-day a week show that's at a decent hour in the evening(I work 4am-2 or 3pm Pacific time so other shows do not work.)
I have observed the improvements in production quality and most importantly the caster improvement by iNc and Gretorp; they are very comfortable in their work and I also enjoy the guest casters on occasion, they add a good mix and it keeps the casting fresh. My only suggestions(incredibly broad) are to continue your theme of professionalism with your mix of being down-to-earth and listening to the community. Taking care of the customer is exactly what you must do despite how rude some may be(this is no different in the retail business in real life.) Finally, I know this is just the first season, but I think constantly rotating themes, backgrounds, and other aesthetic aspects of your production will be very important to the image of your league because it shows that you guys are always working, you have pride in what you do, and that the league remains fresh and it doesn't make it seem like you're running on fumes.
Wonderful job, you have a non-player with no experience in SC2 watching your show on a daily basis, which is exactly what you must do time and time again for the NASL to succeed. Your goal should only be to create and keep customers; iNc I know you must be frustrated by the attitude of some people, but this is something that simply will not change, ever.

Please broadcast at a time that would work for oceania.

I really love almost everything about the NASL, really really enjoying it, especially Idra's insights in the recent games that I've seen.
BUT.
Please keep Idra in check. His personal vendetta against Cruncher is unprofessional. Pointing out what Cruncher does wrong while the game is going on is one thing. Calling him fat before the game starts and iNcontrol picking at that sore wound were not a good idea.

I think NASL should try to work out a way to have free low quality VoDs with advertisements.

Hi, I love the NASL but I have one large complaint. The VOD's are terrible especially considering the $25 fee. They don't start at a standard time. They are missing parts of games and have bit from the ends of the previous game on occasion. They are poorly marked, so knowing which week is which is way more difficult than lets say GSL. I just want games to start at the beginning, and a most recent games to oldest games when I am looking through vods. Or they could be separated by links to have less vods shown at a time. (IE one division at a time). Please get on this InControl like you said on SOTG, vods are the most important aspect.

A tournament format like GSL on a montly basis would be the best thing. I think we're at the stage where the groups have taken enough shape that each series should be being discussed in terms of the group as a whole, having graphics of the group tables up, etc. They really need to put the games into the context of the tournament as a whole; it really makes every series seem more vital and interesting. At the moment things like the players and casters not knowing who's playing who the following week during the winner's interviews is actually detracting from the series as an important part of the tournament as a whole. I can understand the players not being sure who they're playing next week given how many tournaments they all play in and that they've just had to play a hard series but the casters really should have that information to hand (there's no reason not to have it on paper in front of you really). Nine weeks of group play with little emphasis put on how each game affects the group just makes all the games blend together and seem meaningless. In the last few weeks they should really have a graphic up on screen of how the previous series changed the table, this can set up the next series as Fenix needs to win to go top or whatever and adds to the spectacle a bit.
I think the NASL was a bit too ambitious (though that's really not a terrible thing to be at all) in thinking a three month tournament with fifty players involved for the first nine weeks of group play was the best format they could have gone with. Viewer fatigue can become a real problem this way unless you put the games into the context of the tournament as a whole to make them seem important.
On the whole though things have been improving every week and these are really all more problems of the tournament format than the production itself.
