hmm let's see, he's a smoker who defends his smoking habits and claims it's not affecting his body or health. gee, sounds like the vast majority of smokers out there.
the "talking too much from casting, not from smoking" excuse that tasteless gave last month is BS and nothing but an excuse from a smoker who's in heavy denial (like most smokers are).
consider the following:
1) Tasteless took a very, very long break between BW casting and SC2 casting. yet the first thing people noticed on Day 1 of GSL Open Season 1 was how shitty his voice had become. he had been unemployed and not actively casting for months and months, so surely his voice would have had the proper rest. instead it got worse. i wonder what could possibly have caused it?
2) Pull up a VOD of that GSL Day 1 cast (back on September 4th). Compare it to a recent VOD. has his voice gotten worse in those 7 months of active casting? no. voice degradation from too much talking is clearly not the issue. of course talking that much can't help, but it's clearly not the primary factor at work here.

The difference between my voice now, and 5 years ago when I was 20 is quite different. I don't smoke or commentate period, but it is definatly groggier and raspier. It comes with age, I'm sure the smoking contributes a bit, but it's mostly age.

I think tasteless should grow a scruffy beard and let his hair grow out while lowering the tone of his voice and start acting like the Manliest Man in the World from the XX commercials.

With or without smoking, I think he has a fine voice for casting and overall he's simply a great caster. Maybe not as knowledgeable as other SC2 commentators but a top notch entertainer nonetheless. I hope to meet him soon!

someone answered already...
he had an extreme cold/cough and carried on casting for weeks, as a result he's never recovered from the croaky sound.
i think a few weeks rest might give him some improvement, but it sounds very much like a combination of a bad cough and the casting that's caused damage to his vocal chords.

Flash wasn't anywhere near as dominant as he is now. He was a decent player infamous for his cheesy wins vs Bisu, but no one would've though he was Bonjwa material. Meanwhile Anytime was pretty much a beast. Seems very reasonable.

You are assuming that he had the information he would have today back when he made those predictions, I'm sorry but time doesn't work like that

Ahh i don't think you can smoke even 2 packs a day for a year and have your voice alter that much ... smoking is awful but it doesn't' have such a fast effect.
I smoked a pack a day for 2 years and continued half a day after that for 1.5 more and my voice didn't change any more than it would just by general growth.
It's probably a combination of smoking / casting / being the most bad ass mother fucker ever.

... Smoking and drinking just doesn't destroy your voice like that in such a short period of time, even if you're smoking two packs a day. It's just from commentating so much. He's been a commentator for ever and he talked nearly all day and pretty loudly too. He's said on the stream it's the commentating.
