Incontrol (who is constantly browsing the forums) not commenting on this thread is making it more and more believable... I don't see why everything in the works is so private, us discovering this earlier makes me just as excited as I would have been finding out in a week...
There is always tomorrow nshs.seal.

I'd say that on average our top pros are around the same level as the korean pros. The foreigner scene has two code S players. Now do the math, how many foreigners have even TRIED qualifying for the GSL out of all the times out of how many Koreans have tried. The number is a handful to thousands upon thousands. That means that much more foreigners do well in Korean tournaments than do koreans. We are both just human, they aren't inherently better.

mhm, more on the numbers:

2 Foreigners in Code S
30 Koreans in Code S

During open seasons the most tossed around number was ~3000 people signed up

Also Artosis tried to interview just about every foreigner in his coverage video's, and even if he missed some people, there is no way there were over 20 Foreigners at the original open seasons

So <20 foreigners produce 2 Code Players
and >3000 Koreans produce 30 Code S players
do the math

plus there are almost 3 times more players on the NA server than the KR server according to SCRanks; meaning there technically is a larger talent pool atm in NA

Pretty awesome to see a NASL.

I'm sure it'll be better for the foreign players as cashing in the tournament as well as foreign success is going to come a lot easier over here instead of Korea.

Am I excited for it? Sure am.

North American Starcraft League incoming in 2 days.

Hope they have some major backing so the league gets off to a good start. Seeing that Gosucoaching was able to connect a movie as a sponsor for the team league it looks like a bright future for the western gaming scene.

Amazed this hasn't been closed yet, though people have been predicting the announcement being a full time league this has been the best analysis done so far. Good work!

While I'd say that the korean pro avg is indeed aroudn the same as in NA, korea still has a lot more TOP players. Like really top players. However, Im pretty sure that even high master league players can show decent games so I wouldn't be too worried about bad games or anything. if anything NA players tend to play more macro if Im correct? =]

You've also got to take into account that the foreigners going over for it were of a higher average quality than the 3000 koreans (whom were more than likely every man and his dog)
You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel.

Once again, this argument comes up. Try taking MVP, MC, MKP, Nestea, Tester, Squirtle, Nada, Fruitdealer - merely 8 players - to a North American tournament and see how they fare. They're not inherently better, but most people accept that they are still better at this point because of the huge gaming scene generated during BW and the cutthroat training environment the players are living in.

Anyway, coming back to the topic of this thread, really excited to see it happen. It'd be great to see the competitive SC2 scene grow big here and more widely accepted by the general public.

As an outsider to the SC2 community, but someone who got turned onto the GSL: All I can say is if this is indeed what is going on, and you really are planning on creating a televised league, you better be prepared to leave EG.

Do you really expect people to take things seriously when the person running a major league is part of one of the teams competing? That would be like the Green Bay Packers owning the NFL. Massive conflict of interest.
