Don't expect TV, maybe ESPN highlights in 5 years, but do expect big awesome tournament set up in a GSL style format. That seems very exciting, fun, and doable.

Anyone even think about who would be casting? Day9 + Geoff?

This all falls in line with Day [9]'s old announcement about wanting to promote E-Sports, etc. etc.!

My wonder is: how fast it will explode O:

it'll probably be broadcasted on g4 or something aswell
it's the only thing within the realm of possibility that incontrol could be hyping so badly

Having a televised Starleague in the US would be awesome, even if it's only on G4. G4 is the closest thing to Korea's OneGameNet and MBC Game that America has.

Even if SC2 isn't absolutely dominating South Korea, the prospect of the foreign scene blowing up to a level where a North American league is possible creates a very worthy sense of excitement.

Personally I hope it ISN'T on G4, while they say it is the "gaming" network I don't feel that anymore. Spike or Syfy would be a better fit, but honestly if it is an NA league, I would hope it would just be a livestream similar to GSL

On a different note PLEASE be an NA league, that would be so badass!

I agree with this.

G4 may call itself the gaming channel, but I don't think they would want to get rid of Campus PD and Ninja Warrior gaming shows. That would just be crazy.

Waking up tomorrow and beginning my rise to sc2 pro scene.

Those who know how to think need no teachers. Tasteless - I think I'll take my shirt off and let my muscles do the casting

who cares if its on G4 or not, the point is that it would be on tv. people will START watching G4 and it would finally become the gaming network. they could start casting starcraft, halo, etc. on there. and people would actually start watching it again

As an outsider to the SC2 community, but someone who got turned onto the GSL: All I can say is if this is indeed what is going on, and you really are planning on creating a televised league, you better be prepared to leave EG.

Do you really expect people to take things seriously when the person running a major league is part of one of the teams competing? That would be like the Green Bay Packers owning the NFL. Massive conflict of interest.

It's doesn't matter at all. How is that different from Liquid' playing in TSL, Root playing in Root Invitatonal or heck even from MBC Hero playing in MSL -_-

Anyway I hope this is indeed a big tournament :D Really excited for this !

It's a difference of scale. Are they trying to create another tournament for SC2 players/fans to watch, or are they trying to create a league that the average person might care about and fit along side the NHL/NFL/etc?

We don't know yet, however I'm just pointing out a potential issue if the dream really is trying to evolve esports and have outsiders like myself take it seriously.

get the full story before you say such silly comments how do you know hes even running it?

I don't necessarily, but if it's "inControl announcement" then he is at least involved in the creation. Do you think if it was some company like G4 or Spike hosting it they would let someone from one of the teams who are going to be competing announce that it exists? Normally the person in charge of an event does the press releases, not some random guy on the internet.

Furthermore, even if it's one of the other State of the Game guys organizing it. Don't they all (other than day[9]) have team affiliations?

He is associated with Intel I do believe as one of EG's sponsors. Could be that.

Thing is it's wiser to have somebody that knows something about the game develop hype from within the community over dumb G4 random broad #12887212021 that has no idea how to build an SCV and got hired for her tits and ability to suck a cock without her head knocking on the desk above it. People in the SC community care about SC, period. Not some douchebag living in his mom's basement watching AotS or XPlay.

That said, whatever it is I fucking hope it isn't on G4. Anyone watch the Evo stuff from last year? Sessler was fucking terrible.

Isn't one of the big reason a lot of SC1 pros like Flash didn't transition was their contract to Kespa prevents them from doing so in Korea? What stopping this guys from playing here while the legalities of Blizz/Gretech vs. Kespa are worked out?

There's A LOT more $ in BW for Flash right now instead of SC2. A LOT more.
