Just don't use it if you don't like it. I think it's quite helpful for people working on build orders and timing attacks

I'm excited for the clock because when I pull off a build really well, I can shoot to beat that time in future games. I'm excited for it, way to go Blizzard!

Maybe one person has their build timed out very specifically and their opponent doesn't, but that doesn't make it imbalanced, it just means that one player took more preparation time and knows their build better! And even then, the timed out build may be trumped by something unexpected that interferes with a very specific timing push. It's a matter of removing a skill element from the game (being able to time) that some think should remain in the game.

I'm the kind of player who is in SC for the long haul. I don't want any crutches. I want to develop my game sense and scouting abilities. But, for folks who just need a little help in their casual play... sure, why not?

Maybe blizzard will start adding things like this to prevent using a cheat for it?

After reading a few of the post, here are some conclusions that can be made Timer is a very useful tool for players to improve their game. Its pretty much agreeable that observers/refs should have a timer so they have another tool to make commentaries better. Also most probably agree that in tournaments, this feature should not be allowed. The big question is should this be allowed in ladder games? This appears to be a mixed bag in terms of responses. Quite a few arguments for and against, and the murkiest arguments are aimed towards the improving players (mainly gold to diamond players). I'm wondering if blizzard actually studied the idea of putting this clock in game very extensively.... about the longterm consequences of this.... cause as we all know, this will probably be the most scrutinized RTS by its fans.... at least 3 million and growing.

Of course I would of done this normally with a stopwatch/clock like most serious players do if I really wanted to improve drastically, but this just makes it abit easier for casual players who are above 1400+ diamond like me, to still maintain being somewhat competitive.

1. It should not be allowed in lan tournements 2. It should be optional to dissallow it on Ladder or be limited to custom (non ranked games) 3. since #2 won't happen I'll be using it to enhance my normal supply timings 4. Would be cool to start a TL timing thread with common/popular in-game timings as a research tool 5. Since timings are never static this will never replace good game sense and reaction ability. mid level players who rely on this to heavily will be easily exploited.

Not saying they should, just saying dont call anyone who uses a watch/clock a newb just because you dont do it, as the bonjwa of BW right now uses a fucking ruler. Let people use whatever they want if it will improve their play (without hacks/cheating) Don't think flash has time to get out his trusty ruler before making buildings but I did see him measuring his peripheral setup (mouse-keyboard distance or something).
