He talked about it a little in last night's daily - He didn't spend much time analyzing it, but he didn't seem to think it was going to be a big problem. Show 184's up on blip.tv now, and the comments are in the last third of the show somewhere (wish I could be more specific for you than that, but I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the time!) edit: Wow, at 43ish minutes in he says "I'm very excited about that in-game clock that's in the bottom left corner. Very very very pumped about that". Still trying to find the rest

That's not good at all. Why do people think this is such a buff? If a bronze player can't execute a build order according to food counts, what makes you think they could do it according to a clock? Even if folks do use it, they'll just say "oh, he'll attack at 5 minutes" instead of "oh, he'll attack after I build my starport." I just don't get the difference.

That's not good at all. Are you afraid someone mighty beat you, because of a clock ? Would be ridiculous whining in the forum "Oh, I lost again to a guy with the ingame clock, damn it. The 'average' people know my reaper timings. Can we remove the clock ASAP, so I can win again ?" So the only situation I can imagine why people are afraid of a clock is if they make some kind of early aggression, and are afraid it might fail, because the average player, as you described, might be aware of the timings. After 20 minutes of gameplay, the only thing everyone will think of is: "Oh, I had 20 minutes of fun playing." In the lategame the clock will not be as useful as at the beginning.

I knew that was the time that mutalisks would be possible so I got phoenixes (since it's DO and the zerg didn't FE). The people who will use the clock most are the hardcore IMO where it will help them pin point good timings etc.

Also we're giving noobs too much credit, most of them don't know what "timing" is. What I find funny is this... People are complaining that noobs (or people with less skill) will use this clock to figure out timings and whatever. And they are posting things like this on many sites. The ironic thing is, that people that wouldn't have even thought about the clock might now actually use it just because people are complaining that its OP somehow... Kind of backfires QQing about this in the long run if you are really worried about people using this somehow as an advantage maybe you shouldn't be telling everyone how to use this feature effectively?

SC2 should be more competitive, not more noob-friendly ! yeah while we are add it, let's remove the supply-count so you have to count all your probes/units all the time and have to "guess" when you'll need additional pylons/etc.; also let's remove the building-time-line, so people will have to constantly check when their units will gonna pop out; also there shouldn't be really an indicator that shows how much minterals and gas you have, as a competitive player you should be able to constantly calculate and keep track of your income seriously; the same BS as it was with multiple building selections and worker auto-mine; things that make the development of strategies easier while reducing "mechanical" aspects that only come from mass-gaming is a good thing; if the gaming clock helps some noob come up with a super-awsome strat...why the hell not?

But seriously, I can't see for the life of me how can a simple clock suddenly make bronze players able to beat diamonds. As Day9 pointed out, there have always been very precise ways to keep track of time in-game, and adding a normal clock at the bottom of your computer screen has always been possible. I have yet to see a diamond player get beaten by a bronze player by using a clock. A bronze player that knows that his build order derives into a timming attack at 6:15 will still get countered, out-played and/or out-microed by any semi-competent player, that might even not be using a clock himself. It would be more useful to me if the clock displayed actual seconds and not this faster starcraft2-seconds that make no sense in the real world, so I could know if I've been in the game for 20 or 30 minutes without having to actively think about it.
