Cool find anyway. Lol'd, sure is a lot of strategy you have to be doing in the first 9 supply of the game...
I'm very happy about this discovery, because I'm always SO BORED at the beginning of games, now I have something to do.

Sure, harassing with a probe will be much harder when you're also "mineral boosting", but if your opponent is mineral boosting as well, he will also have a harder time fending off your probe.
Not really, the probe harass is occuring in your base, you sometimes don't even have to change screens when dealing with probe harass. He can boost easier

OMG - only lazy noobs want this patched away!
I'd rly hate blizz if this gets removed - it's just a very slight advantage for rly good players and hours after it being discovered, noobs want it removed....

I find it sad that people actually think this is skill.
I'm confident this will get fixed - in the balance patch at the latest.

Psy and Huk are noobs now?

This isnt starcraft all this bug is saying is you have to go to work in order to play, its unnecessary work that everyone will have to do at the start to compete it isnt a tactic its just stupid.
How people can think this is good is beyond me... is there a poll or something... I cant believe anyone below diamond would want this in the game and I cant believe anyone in diamond is dumb enough to think this is a good idea... it has nothing to do with laziness I spam at the start of every game anyway, yeah I can spam doing this but its just stupid... flat out... 100% stupid... saying it adds more skills like saying we should get rid of the right click function in the game. So everyone has to manually click M then left click for move or H then left click for harvest.... ITS MORE SKILL IT MUST BE GOOD RIGHT?

Not one of you people hating on this will ever feel the slightest impact of this mineral boosting while playing someone who does it. There will never be a game decided by this. It is so small and detrimental, stop making a big deal out of it.

Couldn't one just control group all of their workers and hold down C? Same result, no? Probably less effect the more workers you have in the control group, but it's going to be faster than microing them all anyway.
|
"noobs" want it removed because it's unnecessary, "pros" want it to stay to add a gap to 'skill'. yeah why not just get rid of unlimited unit group selection, multiple building selection, autocast, and automining.

Uh. Thats not at all the consensus.

nobody beyond diamond will ever be affected by it, not even in the slightest. so it just does not matter at all.

Well it is a decision. Will Probe Harass be worth the 7% mineral lose...and if you're good with Probe harass (like you obviously are) it would probably pay off just to harass anyway.
Or you could be super gosu and do both
Edit: Psy posted a video saying that people who play this game for fun will be at an unfair disadvantage. Well if you're playing this game for fun, 7% mining time very early in the game won't win or lose the game for you. lol

I don't remember in Starcraft the need to worry about mining "efficiently." Workers just mined and that was the end of that. All the other tricks, muta stacking etc. helped in battle, and lets face it, its more fun fighting in the game then actually worrying about getting money faster and more efficiently than my opponent. I want to blow the crap out of stuff, not worry about 'mineral boosting' in the early game.

Well as far as mining in SC1, someone confirm or deny this for I didn't play SC1 enough to know, for a good amount of time the rally point for the workers would not make them auto mine, so the players had to make each individual worker go to a mineral patch to make sure they were gathering. That is something to consider that helps displays good player skills having those workers sent as they are built, which really is more significant and involving then the mineral boosting.

On September 14 2010 04:28 HuK wrote: i personally hope they remove this, would hinder my probe harass to much But if you harass a worker that's using the "stockmining" technique, he'll have to cancel it to attack you or move away.

you think only "rly good players" can use this? This doesnt give anyone an advantage since anyone can do it, and everyone will know it quickly.

This will cause a 7% drop in gm banter at the beginning of matches.

Back in BW, people microed workers in the beginning to mine slightly more efficiently. They built structures so worker spawn points are closer to the mineral patches. Zerg could use the larvae-moving trick. You had to manually select workers after building them to make them gather.
Isn't it a little absurb how similar things existed in BW that were much more difficult than this but no one complained about it? Little things like these separated the good from the better. And seriously, this "mineral boosting" thing we see here is SO MUCH simpler to do and you only really do it in the early game.
Any of this "7% advantage" will most likely be negligible in 99% of games anyway once any sort of confrontation shows up due to skill difference and general randomness. Hell, I would say even the way you handle early game scouting might take away that theoretical "7%" that will never be realistically reached. If I was to practice SC2 I would spend more time refining my scouting, multitasking, basic general decision making, and possible harassing with my scouting worker over worrying about this theoretical 7% that will almost never play a part in the outcome of games.
Why do we see so much QQ now? TL surely is getting a lot more traffic from new SC2 players.
