[Because the thread is reaching a consequent amount of pages, I'm updating the main post so it contains all the updates]
[Original Post]
Hi everyone!
I'd like to introduce you all to a brand new website me (and my team) have been working on for the past year and a half:
GameCreds.com
In a few words: It's a huge social network for gamers, with a specific focus on Starcraft 2 team/clan management (ok, ok, we also support WoW pretty heavily ^^).
Think of it as a kind of "Facebook for gamers", only, (very) deeply connected to games databases - so whenever you add a game to the list of games you play, we extract all the relevant info about you, and build a real "player résumé".
You'll find the website has a LOT more than just that; it also has an unlimited HD video hosting section, fan pages, a news aggregator (TL news are featured almost every day :p), rankings, etc.
But let's focus on the SC2 side of it! So. What can you do on GameCreds?
1- Build your SC2 player profile
See a live SC2 profile here. How-to and screenshots below (hit the *spoiler* button).
+ Show Spoiler +Simply add SC2 to the list of games you play, and type in your Battle.net URL. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_1.jpg) ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_2.jpg) ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_3.jpg) Our systems will browse Battle.net to produce a résumé, with automatically updated info on your latest featured achievements, top league games, ratings, match history and so on... ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_profil.jpg) We refresh your profile every night, but you can also manually request an update anytime.
2- Start a team
See a live SC2 Team here. How-to and screenshots below (hit the *spoiler* button).
+ Show Spoiler +On your your Profile, hit the " Create your Clan" button. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_8.jpg) All you need to do is choose a Clan name, write a little description. We suggest you a bunch of SC2 profiles (belong to people you befriended on the site) to invite, and that's it! Your Clan is Live. So what do you get? A full-fledged Clan website, featuring, amongst other things: - A Facebook-like Public Wall, where other SC2 players can post comments ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_5.jpg) - a Clan video section, for videos you've uploaded and want to share with your team - A tab displaying all the clan members, with an outlook at their leagues/ratings ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_6.jpg) - Clan Forums, with both a public and private section ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/sc2_7.jpg)
3- Upload & Watch videos
GameCreds has a unique deal with VOD provider Dailymotion.com - we benefit from their back-office, and can thus offer unlimited HD uploads/streaming to members (no time/length restriction). Cool thing is we get to keep our own GameCreds video player (which we think, is rather cool :p), which has a quite handy dampen light feature, and can be embedded anywhere on the internet (and shared on Facebook!).
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/player.jpg)
We already have quite a few SC2 VODs, replays/tutorials - mostly french shoutcasts for now, however - watch one here.
We hope to gather more english content soon! Anyway, the system is free to use, and people can also create their own HD video channel, with customized background, RSS feeds and so on... See example here.
4- Much more to come :D
There are tons of other features I haven't described here, and new ones we're currently working on - we're in the process of adding: - a huge replay database (+ uplaoder & parser, replays are automatically linked to your profile) - SC2 profiles global rankings - a pretty neat Clan War feature
The website is still more or less in Beta, so please, any feedback/suggestion is more than welcome! We're coding stuff as fast as we can :D
Thanks!
[Update 1: Find a teammate]
+ Show Spoiler +This you can do directly from your SC2 profile page. 1- Simply hit the "Seek Teammates" button on your SC2 profile page![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_1.jpg) 2- Then, describe what kind of player(s) you're looking for: - race played & quantity, bracket ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_2.jpg) - desired league, skill (based on minimum rating), short text description ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_3.jpg) - IRL info you require, before playing with someone: name? age? does he have Skype? TS? etc. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_4.jpg) It will create an "opportunity" that should look pretty much like this: ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_5.jpg) ...listed in the SC2 game home page (we'll be creating a more handful "directory" for those soon) ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_6.jpg)
[Update 2: Replay Uploader & Parser]
+ Show Spoiler +A quick update: our new REPLAY UPLOADER section (with an automated parser) is now up and running! I'm currently feeding it with whatever cool replays I can find. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep8.jpg) It's not 100% finished, but it's still running pretty smoothly, and we'll tune it up in the coming days. As usual, your feedback is most welcome :-) Here's how it works. 1- Seek and download replaysThis you can do from the SC2 Home Page on GameCreds - we added a new " Replays" tab, next to the the "forum" one. See a live Replay Page here. How-to and screenshots below (hit the *spoiler* button). + Show Spoiler +The Replay tab![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep1.jpg) Basically, it's a list of all latest uploaded replays, with a bunch of search criteria: - maps (not working yet - still tweaking it) - brackets - leagues - setups - etc. We're adding new search filters, like the possibility to seek a replay by player name (example: " I want all the 2v2 replays featuring Dimaga" ). The Replay pageEach replay has its own page, with detailed players info (race/colour/league) and can be rated, commented, downloaded and liked & shared on Facebook (it helps spread the word ^^). ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep2.jpg) The cool thing? If a player featured in a replay is registered on GameCreds, we tag him in the replay: - the player name is converted in an active link to his GC profile- the replay shows up in his "uploaded replays" tab, on his profile + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep3.jpg) AND it also means that we can automatically estimate the "skill level" of the replay, based on the leagues the players are in. Example : Players Calgar and Sodesk are on GameCreds, and they both play in Solo Diamond leagues - so it shows up before their name, on the replay page/summary. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep4.jpg) But players ClouD and XlorD have not (yet) registered their profiles, so their league indicator is empty for now. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep5.jpg) Downloading replays of course doesn't require one to be logged in. 2- upload replaysStill accessible from the main Replay Tab, in the SC2 home page. You don't need to be logged in to upload a replay (but if you are, there also is a "upload replay" button on your SC2 Profile page). How-to and screenshots below (hit the *spoiler* button). + Show Spoiler +Simply hit the giant green "upload Replay" button. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep6.jpg) A quick popup will show up and ask for: - your replay file (mandatory) - a title (mandatory) - a short description (facultative) ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep7.jpg) ...and you're done! Your replay will be uploaded and parsed within seconds, for all to download :-)
[Update 3: Recruitment section & Blog Capabilites]
+ Show Spoiler +Hi everyone! I'm very excited to tell you about our latest additions to GameCreds :-) In short: 1- Added a SC2 Recruitment section--> Accessible hereVery simple to use! Whenever someone creates an "opportunity" (practice partner, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4), it gets listed here. All you need to do is sort out the list to find player you'd like to play with :-) Here's how the filters look like : ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/opp1.jpg) ... and here's a snapshot of the list of opportunities! 2- Added Editorial capabilities (Blogs)For any member: individuals, SC2 Clans, WoW guilds, Video groups... A full-fledged blogging platform, for articles, guides, and so on... Easily accessible from numerous pages ; in a dedicated tab! ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/blog1.jpg)

(Don't be surprised if there are quite a bunch of French comments on the site walls - the website is freshly out of the woods, and we're based in France.. ^^)
|
There's a thread at the top of this forum entitled Links, Advertising, Self-Promoters which outlines the forum rules banning posts like yours. Why you you expect us to respect you and your community if you don't respect ours?

United States4796 Posts
I dunno, not going to lie but this site actually seems like a pretty cool idea.
EDIT: Now granted it is breaking the rule Kennigit outlined.

Sorry - I ran into a bunch of posts on TL advertising SC2-related wbesites, so I thought it would be ok to create one as well.
If there's a better forum section for these, I'm totally up to move it there :o

Thanks ^^
And yes : it does break the rules! I'm a regular reader of TL, but not that much of a poster (this account is a new one - couldn't even remember my former one).
I guess the post should either be deleted / moved then, my bad :/
(Still, I'm fairly interested in anyone's feedback/suggestions on the website - so if you do happen to test it, please don't hesitate!)
|
Come to think of it, why doesn't TL have a subform for advertisement, might be a better place for all self-promoters and the SC2 General Forum doesn't get flooded.
|
I'm joining right now, and think this site is awesome. This is a really good tool to make the sc2 community be able to communicate and socialize better. (seeing as bnet 2.0 sucks in that regard) GL with the project, I love it. ^^
|
Yes I don't like this being in the Starcraft 2 main forum.
I'm pretty interested in this site though, I will make an account and see if I like it. Hopefully you guys can get a huge fan base pretty quickly.
edit: I just registered for this site and it's actually really cool. My user name is the same.. imaROBOT.. add me if you make an account guys :D.
It's running a little slow, but once you setup your starcraft 2 profile it looks really tight.

As long as it's not a single thread - which usually makes it very hard for readers to pick out the things they'll like - I agree it could be a good idea :-)

Thanks a lot! The main issue we were trying to fix, when we started the project was how lonely one can get when one doesn't belong to a team/clan/guild, whatever the name!
I spent an insane amount of time looking for decent arena mates on WoW, and I find it even more difficult on Starcraft 2 (you don't necessarily want to team up with your Facebook friends :o ).
So yeah, GameCreds should help

Thanks for the cheering :-)
And I'm more than happy to have the thread moved to someplace else (can't seem to do it by myself), if it's a problem to have it here!

I didn't mean to come off as harsh as i did. Sorry about that. In any case, the site does look awesome, very well polished and impressive. Nicely done.

Nvm, found it :3
Love your site, keep it up ^^

No worries! It's my fault for not paying more attention to the forum guidelines! Thanks for your feedback
|
It's too bad that there are talks about Google doing the exact same thing(a Facebook devoted to 'gamers') and if that's true they will just dominate the competition - good luck until then.

Hehe! Thanks
Yeah, I must admit I was kinda scared when I first read the press releases... but it seems they're mostly focused on Casual Gaming (farmville-like flash games) than core gaming...
Plus, we kind of are in contact with them already, I'm sure they won't backstabb us :D
|
It's pretty cool. Nice work.
Would like the ads to go away though. They're getting a bit annoying

Thanks a lot
As for the ads, we kind of need them for the moment :/
We tried to have them as light as possible though... we hope to get some more "quality" ads in a near future (not too flashy - more game-oriented) (and maybe one day we won't need them anymore ^^).
(EDIT - Just noticed an ugly CSS z-index bug with the ads. Might be what you're talking about... we'll get this fixed soon)

Well, I went and registered! It can't be bad, by any means.

Wait, what?
A site link thread where people are graciously settling their differences and coexisting?
Well I'll be damned.
I love TL.
|
This is an extremely well made site. I clicked the link not expecting very much, but it seems very well thought out. I'm going to actively use the site and see how far it goes. Who knows, it meant turn out to be the FB of gaming.
Please continue to provide support for other games =D I'm pretty sure you guys are in the process of doing that anyway haha.

Looks nice. Anyway, I don't think this thread is breaking the intent of the rule, which I think is supposed to be to prevent people from posting clickthru/pyramid scheme/getgoodatsc2in3minutesactnowbecausethetopplayersareangryatmeformakingthisguide/other crap links and stuff.
It's clear Titio put a lot of time into this site and didn't make a halfassed post to promote it. I say let it stay!
[edit] I'm a little annoyed it showed me my password in the activation email though. That means that they are stored in a recoverable way in the database, which I am not happy about.
Also, I can't figure out how to add my monitors to my hardware information.
|
This site doesn't seem too much get much attention. I'm not sure how new it is but I really hope it'll pick up. Because the features on this site, are really really good. It has the potential of being a useful social hub for players.
|
Snuggles I think the site is like brand new so it needs time to spread.
To the OP, this is beautifully done. Keep your team motivated! There are countless gaming sites popping up all over the internet like weeds, and they bring nothing new and exciting. This does, by a long shot. The time and funds into this project are plainly visible.
|
Hey guys! Thanks a LOT for your awesome feedback!! This gives us a real boost
The site ahs indeed been well though: we've been working on it for more than a year and a half, and it's only the beginning :-) We have so many ideas!
I'm a little annoyed it showed me my password in the activation email though. That means that they are stored in a recoverable way in the database, which I am not happy about.
No worries: the passwords are encrypted. We have absolutely no way of knowing it. if you lose your password, the only way you'll be able to access your account will be that we send you a new randomly generated one (pretty much the same way TL does, btw) - this "forgot my pass" feature is coming soon, we kinda forgot to implement it at start :D

Thanks! You have no idea how great this feels reading this :D The website really is shining new. We're trying to get some attention but it sometimes feels like shouting alone in the woods: hard and not very efficient!
Any idea to help spread the word is more than welcome! For instance, we're planning on hosting a weekly tournament, with a small cash prize to win as soon as our dedicated module goes live :D
|
Actually seems like a really cool site and lots of good benefits. Going to check it out and see what I think.
|
To be honest, I've never been much a fan of these Web 2.0 sites (much prefer more minimalist/compact designs such as here at TL.net), but the clan battle thing sounds vaguely interesting. Just wondering if any of the top teams will sign up to use it however.
|
Just signed up, (under the name Accer if anyone wants to get in contact ^_^) and I got to admit that the site is very nice. I like the clean interface and the news highlights, I'll have to try the video features but from what's been shown it looks great!
Unfortunately with the Bnet site down I'm unable to add my account information, but I'll make sure to do so as soon as I am able. I'll make sure to tell my in-game friends about this in hopes that this site gets the attention to become something big. I'm eager to see how well the rest of the community receives it.
|
Just signed up (under xionz, add me haha) and it seems like a pretty neat site. Definitely gonna keep an eye on it and see how things go :D
|
Just wondering if any of the top teams will sign up to use it however.
Well, most of the TOP teams already have nice looking websites, so it won't be as useful as for any other team. Still, it's nice being featured somewhere: you're at the top of rankings, people go and check your stats, fans can follow your games...
Plus, we're thinking of an easy way for members to signup for tournmanents. Like a "1 click thing" and you can check in in various leagues, etc.
So yeah, I think it makes sense for top players to be there :-)
I'll make sure to tell my in-game friends about this in hopes that this site gets the attention to become something big. I'm eager to see how well the rest of the community receives it.
Many thanks

I would also like to say, in addition to my praising post a few posts up, that I agree with this criticism. While Web 2.0 is new and I agree with your decision to follow it, it could do with a little less flashiness in the advertisement departments.
It just - looking at the page - it feels a bit bloated, and its hard to focus my attention on the things I should be focusing my attention on; the text. I guess that the business model, you need to generate revenue off of advertisements.
|
i hate to sound too negative but from what i see it's teamliquid and facebook had a baby and spawned this. Don't get me wrong the website is well done but this has been done before, nothing new.
Edit: ... there's achievements on this website aswell?

Actually, we really hope we'll be able to get rid of those at one point (unfortunately, not in a near future).
The main problem we have is: because we're so new and so "small" (even though we need about 10 servers in a top-notch cluster to make sure the site runs ok ^^), we can't really decide what ads are going to be displayed :/
Otherwise, we'd have banned the flashy/stupid ones at once.
On September 02 2010 05:40 Pibacc wrote: i hate to sound too negative but from what i see it's teamliquid and facebook had a baby and spawned this. Don't get me wrong the website is well done but this has been done before, nothing new.
Well, I think there are a lot of similar websites, with a slightly different concept. Or, not "so-in-deep-integration with games databases".
But you're right, what we did was mixing a lot of different concepts we liked, and adapt the result to gaming
Edit: ... there's achievements on this website aswell?
Yup! Well, at the time we designed the achievements system, not so many websites had one :/ (And, we wanted the "honor unlocked" short animation, so we HAD to make it live :D)
|
banning of an advertisement promoting another SC2 COMMUNITY would be against of the spirit of TeamLiquid.
thats my opinion. cause there are a bunch of people who are trying to do sth for SC2, I think that is what matters.
but rules are rules, its admins call ofc in the end.
|
I think if the Mods didn't want this thread to be out, it'd be closed right now. I've visited a lot of those new SC2 communities, GameCreds is the best looking one so far.
Plus if you play other games besides SC2, like WoW, its also pretty damn nice. The site has a friggin built in wowarmory and a Guild Forum. Besides having your own site, gamecreds could be a good alternative to bring a guild together outside of the game.
|
Looks interesting. I'm taking a look now :D

Well, to tell the truth, we started by designing the WoW section, so yeah - it's pretty thick (Profling section, automated guild creation, in-depth recruiting feature featuring raid XP, specifi items, etc.) The SC2 section already is starting to be bigger though

It's really neat. Good to see some french fellas doing work for the community =)

Some quite simple attacks could get a dump of the entire users table, and then it's pretty trivial to identify the encryption, and then usually it's not that hard to break the encryption. Or a rogue employee could just decide to take it all, and since they probably have access to the source, it'd be trivial to locate the decryption/encryption and have complete access to all accounts.
I do not like my passwords stored plaintext. Ever.
|
Though this might technically be against the rules of the forums, I still think its an awesome post, and site, and yet another way to get the ball rolling on the global e-sports thing. For some reason, the average consumer eats this whole social networking thing up.

I think I wasn't clear: the passwords are not stored in plain text in the database :-) That's why we can't get it back if you forget it. And we have to generate a new one. If by any chance someone gets a dump out of the DB (and since we're using a specific version of mySQL cluster DB, it's not that easy to perform!). Well, he'll get quite a score of random numbers.
Your passwords really are as secured as can be :o
EDIT: I'll get the specifics from our CTO if you want! I'm not that much of a tech guy myself ^^

I'm laughing at his expense now.
Nice jobt btw OP, gl.

Seems really interesting, and seems to be the first place I've seen that actually has a clan/team system O.O

Thanks, it works without the caps.
Good! We've fixed the issue so it doesn't happen again (will be up when the newt patch is live on the site)

I'm not going to lie, I clicked the link expecting a shoddy thrown-together thing and I was very impressed.
It's extremely polished, it looks like you guys put a lot of time into it. Hopefully it takes off and becomes what you want it to be.

Thanks a LOT for all this positive feedbacks! I've shared it with the team, and this boosts us all to make the website even more attractive!
We're actively working on the huge replay submission system. We *hope* to release it tomorrow (for now on, it works seamlessly :p), I hope you'll enjoy it :D

It would be miles better if there wasn't so much french everywhere. Hate it when I don't understand what is going on around me.

Where do i search for teams or clans? I dont see anything :D

neat, site, I think alot of it being in french will potentially hurt its success. English/korean seem to be the main languages of SC2. I will sign up when I get home from work today to test things out.
edit. Im Canadian and speak french, so not an issue for me, just an observation (didnt want to seem like I suggesting any particular language is better)

Yeah I know :/ Being based in France, and because we won quite a lot of French startup contests, the initial subscribers naturally were French.
We're trying to address that by featuring more english content, and letting US/rest of the world gamers know about the website
And seeing how the SC2 community mainly speaks english indeed, I think it's just a matter of time that it becomes the one and only language you'll see in comment Walls on the site
Where do i search for teams or clans? I dont see anything :D
We need to make it a bit clearer You can find it in the main "Search" Tab ; there's a "SC2 Guild" or "SC2 profiles" filter that should help!
|
I dont want that. I wanna add something like this: looking for practice partner
|
Oh! This you can do directly from your SC2 profile page. Though we currently have a bug with 1v1 (i.e, sparring partner) opportunities being listed as 2v2 (we're fixing that).
Here's the how-to (putting this in *spoiler* because it has a bunch of images)
+ Show Spoiler +1- Simply hit the "Seek Teammates" button on your SC2 profile page![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_1.jpg) 2- Then, describe what kind of player(s) you're looking for: - race played & quantity, bracket ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_2.jpg) - desired league, skill (based on minimum rating), short text description ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_3.jpg) - IRL info you require, before playing with someone: name? age? does he have Skype? TS? etc. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_4.jpg) It will create an "opportunity" that should look pretty much like this: ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_5.jpg) ...listed in the SC2 game home page (we'll be creating a more handful "directory" for those soon) ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/seek_6.jpg)
btw, if you have any suggestions on the matter, please don't hesitate to let me know :D
|
I'll bite, this is actually a nicely laid out site
one suggestion: let us add more than one computer to the hardware info I have two laptops that I game with, a dell xps m1730 as well as an apple macbook pro 17" but I'm only able to add hardware details for one or the other.

No worries: the passwords are encrypted. We have absolutely no way of knowing it. if you lose your password, the only way you'll be able to access your account will be that we send you a new randomly generated one (pretty much the same way TL does, btw) - this "forgot my pass" feature is coming soon, we kinda forgot to implement it at start :D That doesn't matter. Ever. Your passwords really are as secured as can be :o EDIT: I'll get the specifics from our CTO if you want! I'm not that much of a tech guy myself ^^ Encryption is reversible. Passwords should only ever be stored as a hash.

Encryption is reversible. Passwords should only ever be stored as a hash. Ok - well, that's probably what's being done. As said, I'm not that much of a tech guy, so I'm probably not using the right words :s (I'll ask anyway, just to make sure)

Seriously great looking site, dont think i've ever been this impressed with a website. I hate social networking but maybe this'll change my mind lol
|
Sorry if this has already been mentioned
I just registered at your site with the user name Jokah. Now I'm sure when i entered my username I used a capital J but it has appeared as a lower case j
Not a big deal but worth a mention
Great site by the way
|
I would like to register but it tells me to check my email and there is a red cross. However the email i entered is valid.
|
After lurking around on the site for a while now, I have to say it's really slick and looks really promising. I'm not really found of the term "guild" when talking about StarCraft2 though, but maybe that's just me. I would rather prefer Team or maybe Clan.
I also have a question regarding the avatar restrictions. I couldn't find any guidelines regarding the avatar sizes and such. The image compression used on the site seems to screw up the quality quite a bit, hence I was looking for an optimal imagesize so that the site won't compress/auto-resize it. I also noticed that when uploading a very small image (say, 70x70 px), the image gets resized even further (smaller) and receives huge white borders around it.
I don't know if any of the things I just mentioned made any sense whatsoever. I guess I could provide screenshots if further explanation is needed.
Besides that, I've not yet encountered anything spooky. Everything seems to look super-clean.
|
Thanks again for all the great comments! :D

Yeah we're aware of the issue - not quite sure if why it was done this way in a first place, but users will be able ot change that in a near future
I'm not really found of the term "guild" when talking about StarCraft2 though, but maybe that's just me. I would rather prefer Team or maybe Clan.
I'd much rather Clan/Team as well - it's just part of a *very* long list of small issues we'll need to fix. But because we always have bigger issues to solve, it keeps on being delayed... (well, and we're a rather small team too). But it'll be fixed in time :D

Our resizing script seems to behave a little strangely - we're aware of it (indeed, already small pics are being made "ultra small" - dunno why) ; that's part of the list of things to fix
True we should at least state the optimal avatar dimensions - we'll look into this

mmm can you make sure it's all lowercase? For some reason the input field doesn't like caps letters (will be fixed in the next patch - hopefully tomorrow! )...

Very quick update: seems we *might* be able to release our replay uploader tomorrow :D Pretty excited about that!
(if that is so, I'll update this post with a brief img tutorial!)

Hash is kinda one-way encryption. Since he saw his password in the activation email, he believes it cannot be stored as hash as somewhere along the path, his email was decrypted and given back to him. This concerns him as, if your website is able to decrypt his password, something else can.

Yup, I understand it. I was told by the tech guys we indeed hash the passwords. Couldn't go much more into detail though ^^
I guess it's the same way TL or Facebook or any other serious website works - cuz when I used TL's "forgot my pass" function, I had it sent in an email too :o Doesn't seem to me that vulnerable.
|
Okay, I just got confirmation we're hasing passwords:
passwords are not stored in plaintext and there is no way for us or someone else to retrieve the password of one our users even if he had full access to our database (unless this person is able to crack SHA algorithms, but in that case, pretty much everybody is in trouble, not just us). The password is sent in the registration confirmation email just before it is stored with a SHA hashing function in our database
ALL YOUR PASSWORDS IS (NOT) BELONG TO US! :-)

Hi guys,
A quick update: our new REPLAY UPLOADER section (with an automated parser) is now up and running! I'm currently feeding it with whatever cool replays I can find.
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep8.jpg)
It's not 100% finished, but it's still running pretty smoothly, and we'll tune it up in the coming days. As usual, your feedback is most welcome :-)
Here's how it works.
1- Seek and download replays
This you can do from the SC2 Home Page on GameCreds - we added a new "Replays" tab, next to the the "forum" one.
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep2.jpg)
The cool thing?
If a player featured in a replay is registered on GameCreds, we tag him in the replay: - the player name is converted in an active link to his GC profile - the replay shows up in his "uploaded replays" tab, on his profile
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep3.jpg) AND it also means that we can automatically estimate the "skill level" of the replay, based on the leagues the players are in. ![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/rep5.jpg)
Downloading replays of course doesn't require one to be logged in.
2- upload replays
Still accessible from the main Replay Tab, in the SC2 home page.
|
We'll also look into direct "history match" replays upload pretty soon (basically, tying/uploading specific replays to your match history)
|
Nice! I had the same Idea for a team/player management solution (which I may still implement) however I had/have no resources to do it just yet. Good luck!

Thanks :-) We're really working hard to improve it every day, but so far, so good!
Next on the dev list : - global rankings - clanwar/tournament wizard!
|
Hi there! Sorry for the lack of news - we'll be adding a few more features in the coming week (including updated rankings!)
|
Hi everyone! I'm very excited to tell you about our latest additions to GameCreds :-)
In short:
1- Added a SC2 Recruitment section
--> Accessible here
Very simple to use! Whenever someone creates an "opportunity" (practice partner, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4), it gets listed here. All you need to do is sort out the list to find player you'd like to play with :-)
Here's how the filters look like :
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/opp1.jpg)
... and here's a snapshot of the list of opportunities!
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/opp2.jpg)
2- Added Editorial capabilities (Blogs)
For any member: individuals, SC2 Clans, WoW guilds, Video groups... A full-fledged blogging platform, for articles, guides, and so on...
Easily accessible from numerous pages ; in a dedicated tab!
![[image loading]](http://info.gametube.fr/misc/sc2/blog1.jpg)
As usual, your feedback is much appreciated :-) Thanks!
|
It looks great not sure if I'll use but I'm glad it was posted

Hehe! Thanks :D
Well, you never know... I remember being so fed up at my failed attempt to find decent teammates that I even registered on random forums to spam "PLZ PLAY WITH ME" messages
Let's say this is a more "elegant" way of doing it
|
Btw, we're looking for talented players who would feel like writing down tips/guildes/tutorials on SC2!
Would be pretty helpful for new/intermediate players. Theorycrafting on races/units balance also more than welcome!
|
Here's an example of a WoW-related blog (a machinima guide to create a wow-video) We're looking into getting some cool SC2 contributors as well!
...if anyone wants to start a blog... ;-)
|
Only just started an account on there but so far seems very well made! Lots of friendly frenchmen xD

Go ahead and flood it with english :D
We'll also be announcing a major event in about a week that I really hope you guys will like!
|
I like the idea. Thanks.
|
I love this, making a profile now...
|
Hey! Glad you like it and thanks a lot for the positive feedback! :-)
Don't hesitate to add me as a friend on the site if you have questions! Here's my user page and my profiles :
Titio on SC2, Titio and Tisseyo on WoW :-)
|
I like the idea however I dont know how many of the "hardcore" gamers would use that website. I can see it attracting causals.
On a side note I do think there needs to be a forum for ad space (with some guide lines and not just any old shit) as someone else mentioned for posts like this.
|
Looks pretty nice, i am still gonna wait for more NA users but yeah, looks great
|
awesome site, just signed up
|
I like the site although it still needs a bit of work.
The box that comes up when I went to make a clan didn't have the check mark button or whatever it was to actually make the clan in Chrome although it worked fine in IE.
The site is a bit too flashy and intensive imo, the pages seem to take awhile to fully load and it was a bit confusing trying to figure out how to do things at first.
Also when uploading a replay, it forced me to make a title and description. It would be nice if it made the title from the name of the replay and didn't need a description.
|

This shouldn't happen, we'll have it fixed!

I'm concerned about this point - you're not the only one outside Europe experiencing kinda slow loading. We're thinking about moving part of our cluster to the US - should probably help a lot.

mmm description should have been facultative. As for the title, it is a very good idea, I'm adding it to the dev items right now

Hey there! No it should be available for any region! Let me check with the dev team - I'll get back to you ASAP!
EDIT : Ok, I've had the dev team fix the issue, but we will need to apply a patch on the website. Next release is due for Wednesday (maybe a lil before), so you will have to wait a bit to be able to add your profile (sorry!). I'll try to speed things up

My opinion on GameCreds.com
Pros:
+ Innovative + Lots of potential (partner seeking et cetera) + Friendly
Cons:
- Too hectic / flashy interface - Laggy - Ads, premium membership promptings

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'll compile it with the rest and get back to the dev team :-) As for the ads, unfortunately, we kinda have to have them at first... I wish we could pick them though, so we avoid the flashy non-game-related ones :/
|
Yeah, the site is pretty laggy due to all the flashy graphics. It's so laggy that scrolling the page isn't very smooth at all, and it takes a few seconds before it refreshes after you scroll. Other than that, it seems like a pretty nice site. I just signed up for it this morning.
|
I agree with it being to flashy. It kinda looks like the interface on my wii which makes me want to go on a killing spree. Tho the idea is awesome. The potential is huge, and I can see myself using this if the interface was less High School Musical and more Braindead meets Jenna Jameson.

Thanks for the feedback! Well I'm not sure, but it does seem that we need to work on our hosting - the bandwith quality towards the US is not what we thought it would be (here in EU, it's pretty smooth - no lag whatsoever).
We'll be looking into hosting part of our cluster in the US, it should help a lot.

Got your point! We'll be working on the GUI pretty soon to revamp it. Don't know how long it's going to take, but it's definitely one of the things we'll be doing next.
|
I'm also curious about the number of people who would be interested in a "Tournament/ClanWar wizard" feature. We're currently working on it (hope to release it somewhere around next week), but if people really like the idea (and the actual feature, of course), we may work on a special launch even for the occasion.

Edited the first post so it contains all the important feature updates!

Ok, gave it a try.
Found very few options available... sorry to see that =( I know that this is a new website and it is still beta...BUT, it is obvious it is crouded with commercials and the mainframe of this website is to make some money, not to help the gaming community ;(
Thumbs down dude... I hope this will get better in the future.

Hey there, well... thanks for your feedback anyway, but.. what gave you this impression?
I personally designed the whole of this website to precisely answer all my needs, as a gamer.
There indeed is a small start-up behind the project - and there's no other way to make things happen. Websites take developers/coders/system admins to exist and those guys need to eat ^^ - all we have is a bunch of ads on the pages
I'd rather not have them but atm, I have no other option... But if you know of an other way, I'm all ears :D
Apart from that, what features/options would you be looking for?
|
New announcements soon :D
