I think it's deplorable that people are allowed to gang up on a relatively mannered individual and then have the gall to claim that he was the rude one. However, when you realize who two of the major figures were in this gang up, two prolific members of EG, it starts to make sense. I think that just like the fighting community has to grow up fast now that they're getting bigger and slightly more in the public eye, so too must the SC2 community become more professional (albeit to a lesser degree). Idra shouldn't be on a talk show, that much is pretty obvious, but I don't blame him. He doesn't claim to be a good speaking public figure/role model, and that's fine. But the other members of SotG continuously vouching for him, particularly his team captain, seems short sighted and immature. Rest assured that if people were disrespectful in content and delivery in this way in professional sports, people would get fired. Now the main counterargument to this, I'd imagine, is that SC2 and eSports are inherently adolescent/young adult dominant and we cannot ask the players to be professional in this manner. However, look at the only country where eSports have been televised consistently for a decade. Korean pro gamers are expected to have an air of maturity and respect about them, and that has happened to coincide with a somewhat publicly accepted culture of eSports in Korea. I don't chose to watch primarily Korean SC2 just because they tend to be the better players, but I also do because I can respect them and what they do. This is also why among foreign teams I follow mostly only TL. No one ganged up on anyone. No one claimed either side was rude (if you're talking about Avilo and Idra, than that's the lousiest argument I've ever heard). I don't know what the hell show you were watching but it was a heated, swift argument between two individuals that had to be ended in an urgent, and possibly rude way. The only legitimate argument I see you have is that Idra shouldn't be on the show, which I can see there being a concern for, but considering he was consistently against having Avilo on the show leading up to the event I can't really argue for that. There's NOTHING more to talk about. Everyone on the show has owned up to at least some level of responsibility (JP primarily). This is the kind of bullshit that makes drama. This stuff happens all the time in sports/reality talk shows, and theres no reason to compare/differentiate the two. This wasn't some televised event or purchased entertainment it was a mistake made on a free stream during a community talk show. God forbid, people who don't agree with each other on the internet.

Attacking Avilo, QXC or Idra is a waste of time, attack what they are saying, it is a more useful discussion. I certainly liked having QXC and Idra discuss TvZ, Idra has good points that it is basically to early to make any final ideas about the Queen buff. And QXC has a good point that early game atm is very difficult for T and more ideas need to surface, not to mention some good points about Infestors and how hard they are to EMP against a good Zerg.

All the guys on the last show are some of my favorite players/personalities in eSports, but aside from qxc and Tyler they all made a fool of themselves on ep 72. Incontrol only wanting avilo on the show so he can make fun of him, JP randomly dropping him from call with zero warning (Seriously man what did you think would happen when you brought him on?) and IdrA starting to abuse avilo just because he wasn't very clear with a point (To be fair IdrA didn't want to do it in the first place). I'll still listen to the show, still watch IdrA/Incontrol games whenever possible, and whilst it wasn't the biggest deal it was disappointing to see such immaturity on show.

Which is why SotG missed a massive opportunity to be a moderated, public discussion between qualified people, by turning it into a dog and pony show. Huge, controversial metagame shifts demand reasoned discussion, not a Fox News style yelling match. It honestly seems like Avilo was brought on because QXC was not getting sufficiently antagonistic in response to Idra's usual Gish Gallop debating tactics. Metagame discussion should not be an unmoderated, unstructured debate. Debates are competitive arguing, not a method of gaining insight into anything.
