Um, because they have good personalities?????? Just not good players. Are you really going to argue that sotg features top sc2 pros who can reliably make judgements about the state of the game concerning all 3 races? Its a talk show, for entertainment purposes, nothing more.

I watched the show but did not pay any attention to chat or w/e, to me it seems that inControl is a bit insulting towards terran players honestly..... Its possible it was meant in a different way, but he essentially said "theres no terran in this show, shut the fuck up about it"
not a huge deal but it seems irrational to not expect Terran players to be upset that they are having a balance discussion without 1 perspective. It seems reasonable to say, "how about we get a terran in here to see what they have to say"
I would have loved to hear Demuslim for example. Illusion also.
I dont know many English Speaking Terrans personally but hopefully they will add a Terran in there.

I am not really fond of IdrA but this guy has shown that he is capable of high level play and is in a rather huge slump recently - just look it up on Liquipedia.
Incontrol and Nony are different cases and have their respective roles, whereas Artosis is a (one of THE) fucking GSL casters and in and out of itself has a great grasp of the state of the game by simply being exposed to the highest level of play.
Some people should really get their heads out of their asses and troll somewhere else...

I would argue this yes. They arent the best players in the world but I believe they can definitely make reliable judgements about the game. Just because you aren't the best doesn't mean you're not knowledgeable just like in any other sport or competitive game. Hell a lot of coaches in other sports have never played before but they still understand the game better than most players even.
So I believe Idra, Nony, Artosis and Incontrol are completely capable of discussing the balance of the game with some accuracy.

It can't be blamed that there are very few foreigners that have the capacity to play a prestigious race such as terran at a high pro level. Notice how majority of the foreign pros are of Protoss and Zerg because they don't require the amount of micro management the Terran race requires. Which this harder to play aspect is something we embrace.
With this being a foreigner show it can't be helped that they don't have a terran voice in the show and is quite alright.

No idea what you are talking about, I absoutely do not care whether incontrol plays or casts or is playing not playing. No idea how you got that out of my post.

It doesnt change the fact that when they constantly slight terrans, they are displaying a huge amount of ignorance regarding the game they are supposed to be knowledgeable about and not really helping their cause, thus creating discussions like the one we are currently having. They are all smug dudes with nice paychecks while the real pros are struggling with trying to actually win something and have legitimate balance gripes. MVP's opinion > their opinions combined.

What is the last thing Idra, Incontrol, or artosis has won? many fans' undying love. However even the greatest deal of charisma does not translate into skill performances. true enough. i still consider nony and idra to be the all-time greatest foreign starcraft players though. i have followed them since sc:bw and will continue to respect them/their opinions even if they fucking suck ass at sc2, which they don't. as for incontrol, i never saw him play before sc2 so i have no comment on that, but incontrol is hilarious. he could call me a fat-ass, cave troll living in my mother's basement and i would still have a big-ass grin on my face. i could care less about his performance, which isn't all bad compared to other NA players (mediocre overall though, which he does not deny and says he is trying to improve--respect). as for artosis, does anyone really question his knowledge of the game? seriously? i question his use of artosis-pylons, but other than that, his street cred far surpasses anyone else.
edit: i forgot jp who gets all kinds of shit. 1. this dude put on this show, which is by far the best sc2 show out there. hands-down. fuck that guy who said 2gd. 2. although he gets a lot of shit, i like his casting. ever since day9 beta, he has been one of my favorite casters (him and djwheat, him and day9). 3. he may not know 100% about sc2, but he plays other games on his stream, and i like that.

Alright, poll time to end this once and for all!
Poll: Should SotG have a Terran pillar? No, Terran will take what they're given and like it. (59) 57% Yes, having all three races represented is better than only having two. (44) 43% 103 total votes Your vote: Should SotG have a Terran pillar? (Vote): Yes, having all three races represented is better than only having two. (Vote): No, Terran will take what they're given and like it.

If SotG needs a Terran pillar, it needs a Zerg pillar too. Idra isn't a pillar.

Seriously, get Vibe or somebody on the show even. Idra's pull with the NA community is so disgusting sometimes. I really wish some more deserving players got the attention they deserve.

I'm watching this show because it's fucking hilarious, not because I want to hear about balance. I'd rather listen to a funny/interesting personality than a "Terran player" just because people aren't capable of drawing their own conclusions on the current balance of the game.

It isn't that there isn't a pillar for that position, but rather that besides the people who keep showing up, they just don't want to be on the show. Not everyone has the time to consistently plan out 3 hours of their day to be on SToG, I mean, JP talks about how hard it is to even just get these people on all at the same time.
|
The show doesn't need to have a Terran pillar but if an episode involves discussing patch changes or HOTS stuff, it would be good to have representation from each race.
|
Episode 71 has been the first episode I didn't finish watching, the anti-Terran tone is really alienating.
