Hmm...nope. I saw the majority of the shit about LastShadow before this SOTG even aired. The reason people are talking about it is because it's an invite tournament for tens of thousands of dollars and one of the invites was a guy who does quite well on fucking ladder, hasn't been to a tournament since 2010 (and even then he was thought of as second rate in the foreign scene) and also happens to be a friend of the guy organising the event.
I mean, I don't give a shit. I ain't mad, Day[9] can invite who he wants. But if you wanted my unbiased opinion, it's dumb to invite your mates to a big LAN even though we all know he's gonna get outclassed. 'Oh but he's done this on ladder and he's beat so and so and lots of people go out 0-3'. No man. He's just some guy who plays ladder. There's no underdog story here. Sase is an underdog in this tournament, LastShadow is just a scrub.* We all know this.
You don't just bring 'some guy' to an invite only tournament for tens of thousands of dollars. That's my main point.
But that's just what I think. It doesn't affect me in the slightest that he was invited.
*comparative to the other players present
EDIT: Oh and I should also say that I have nothing against the guy and I wish him every success and it would have been cool if he 3-0ed his group and I would have cheered. But I'm being realistic. Sorry man.

I've known LS for the past few months and DL'd his replay pack to watch his play (it wasn't really impressive), but he was featured on the Day9 daily twice and the Artosis Hour. I also watched his vLog series, which was very informative (but he doesn't really follow his own advice).
Can't say I'm a fan, but I was very interested to being surprised by his performance. Ironically I got that surprise, just not how I intended.

JP didn't used his KFC XL drink since the last time ? He only had that little plastic glass at the beginning of the show, not american enough imo.
By the way, Socke seems to be such a nice guy.

Are they still planning to do a Diablo episode?
Also doesn anyone remember the episode where there's some real awkwardness between JP and Incontrol near the start like InControl thinks JP is having a dig at him or NASL or something? I lost all my mp3s reformatting my computer and I can't find that episode.

In response to their conversation of who could be a good caster for both Sc1 and Sc2 for Proleague I believe Sayle is doing a very good job, and would be quite a decent pick.

Totally agree. I thought it was absurd every time we heard the "16 of the best players in the world" from the casters, when we all know that it was more like 15.

day9 needs to apologize to the scene or leave the scene after this debacle with last shadow
he got in a player that has no (positive record) and let him into poolplay with players like parting or squirtle
last shadow lost every match he played and left the tournament in a bm manner because he didnt "feel well".
did mvp feel well with his injured wrist when he won gsl against squirtle last week? probably not.
day 9 got in a player that doesnt fit the criteria of "one of the best players in the world" and he needs to feel responsible for this . the last time an invite like this was done was probably lucifron in dreamhack valencia but that was to appeal to the local crowd. this time there is no real reason outside that lastshadow seems to be a friend of day 9

I thought the latest episode is one of their best so far. Good group of people (we need more DarkForce in SotG) and some informative talk.
As for the LS drama, I don't think he truly deserved the invite, but at the end of the day, he got it and had poor results. Sucks, but that is just how it is sometimes. Honestly, I was hoping for a Sheth invite.

Day9 is not accountable for LS just because he had an influence on his invite, and honestly why does it matter that LastShadow got an invite? Every tournament needs an underdog and this guy has had people saying hes quiet good for some time, nothing wrong with giving a guy a chance to make his debut.

Ya I don't think Day9 should leave because thats a little overboard. But it was a bad decision to invite the guy for all the reasons we already know. Can't blame Day9 I guess, he was taking a gamble on a guy with a checkered past and no results. Then to repay Day9 for the opportunity the guy QUITS mid tournament.
That's the worst part of it all. It was Day9's show to run so he can invite whoever but he really should have known better than inviting that guy. It was still a decent tournament but would have been even better with pretty much any other player. Being bm or not a top notch player doesn't make you a terrible person but quitting in the middle of a tourney that so many other players would have done anything to be a part of is just really pathetic and disrespectful.
So ya Day9 made a bad call but it happens I guess and I doubt anyone will be making the same mistake again with LS.

This post is retarded even by the standards of this thread.

To me, it seems like Lastshadow was invited to be a jobber. No significant tournament results, no hype behind recent great performance, no force of personality - it really does seem like LS was there to make the other players look better in comparison.

I agree that saying day9 should leave the scene is stupid, but I am getting tired of all the white knighting for him. My opinions of how his casting and show have gone downhill over the past year are just that, opinions, but this Last Shadow debacle really tarnished day. On SotG (or was it Lo3) he didn't even acknowledge that LS had past issues (hell the guy even got kicked out of the GOM house), and basically dodged everything he was asked by diverting into some narcissistic monologue following every question. I hope someone can bring Day back down to earth, how he portrays himself has changed drastically in the past 1 to 1 1/2 years.

Maybe Day[9] invited LastShadow for more mystery and controversy than other players. Can everyone stop acting like children? Because I don't know about you guys, but I want to play some Starcraft 2 and not act like a freakin' chobo feces licker.

I don't really give two shits about Lastshadow. It's a non-issue.
|
What is this all talk about LastShadow. I seriously don't care about this figure. He is nobody. Jeeez.

Day9's rapidly declining casting skills are more of an issue than his nepotism for me.
