User was warned for this post (unnecessary flaming) This type of response with generalizing an entire community (when it's really the vocal minority that are being the problem here) is not a good way of vindicating yourself or making yourself look better to the people who actually love your show and watch it faithfully (like I do). I was just checking the thread today to see when the next show was and didn't even know there was a problem with us people being "so fucking ignorant and ungrateful." All in all I am thankful you do your show JP. If you really do hate the minority of this community so much then please leave. It won't help anyone but at some point you have to look at what your own choices mean to you. As for "making people/tournaments/organizations drop all interactivity in social media" maybe you should realize that the majority of tournaments and interactivity is actually being promoted and not decaying in any sort of meaningful way. The problems people are having with the label of this particular SotG is that it really wasn't one. Maybe it should have been called SotG - Sundance Exclusive or something? I don't know. Please stop reading these forums so closely and then picking out only the negative opinions. There is constructive feedback in these threads hidden among the trash and it would be wise to consider the community is not full of morons like so many of the players and casters make it out to be. Thank you for what you do for the community but the non-professional responses to these types of problems only exacerbates them. This. One of my hopes, like many of us on TL, is for eSports to be a legitimate, professional environment. Posts like yours do not support that hope. JP, as a very public figure in the esports community, you need to be able to handle these trolls. Seriously. This comes with the territory whether you like it or not. I genuinely enjoy your work and I know that you work your ass off to bring free content to people. That's why it becomes all the more heartbreaking to see these angry posts from you claiming the entire community is behaving stupidly. This reminds me a bit of when HD started looking at all the hate he was getting for his casting during IPL4. You need to have a thick skin, that's all I can say. Either read the comments and take from them what you will or do what you feel is right and let people deal with it. Either way I'll support you and State of The Game by watching, commenting and doing whatever I can to promote it. or people could stop being assholes. JP takes a ton of shit for no good reason to be honest. Dude works hard and gets next to no credit. People still think all he does is be friends with Artosis, Incontrol, Tyler and Day9.
Yes the show would not be what it is without JP hosting it. His job might look easier because he dosent talk has much but its really not. I have watched an other sc2 show with a less tallent host and nice pillars, it gave me an other perspective on JP and what he does. I guess most of the people bitching lack this perspective, kinda sad because he should get praised instead of bitched at.

Well, Im just as surprised as you, but isnt the poll a bit vague. I mean, there really should be more options then just a yes and no. People could be voting no just because the show is in a bit of a mess right now, with day9 gone and there isnt a certain date for the show. But its up to nearly 60% yes, which is a good thing =) love his show. One of the main sources to what pro gamers think of the state the game is in, and the esport world. The show must go on, the community needs more people like JP and his great work. They just need some time to get the show back together.

JP actually does a wonderful job as a media guru/journalist. One of the biggest aspects of doing this successfully is finding a host that can actually make every guest feel at ease while still asking the hard questions that need to be asked.
There's a LoL podcast called State of the League which is literally the same show except LoL based and though their host doesn't do a bad job, it's definitely apparent when you watch a podcast that doesn't have an experienced host. There's no direction, questions get asked but people don't want to answer them, they give half ass answers because they're not comfortable with the host. There isn't that mutual respect while still being at ease.
JP does a great job of this, and personally as a journalism major, he does what few people understand is exactly what someone in his position needs to do. People feel like he doesn't deserve to be where he is because he doesn't have a starcraft background, but the majority of the people that feel this way never had a starcraft background either, so who are they to judge? They need to look at what JP offers and what others offer, then realize he deserves to be where he's at because he does his job well(the majority of which is done behind the scenes).
Remember Day 9's launch party? Who did Sean attribute stability and reliability to? The guy is just good at what he does, a lot of people just don't understand what it is that he does.
So, though you won't read this, from a novice studying journalism to an actual professional in the e-sports industry, keep doing what you do best JP. You're one of the best in the industry and you'll continue to be one of the best.

Well can anyone of you think of a better host? I myself do see a big problem in JP being involved in MLG and thus MLG getting more attention than it deserves, but who else could replace him?
What really makes me watch the show is pretty much Geoff, Dan and Shawn. But even Shawn doesn´t show up as much anymore, who else could get all of them together.
btw, PLEASE make Hotbid interview HuK live on one of your shows!

I love state of the game and think you do a great job JP for what its worth. Listen to every episode and have enjoyed them all, keep it up please

That is fucking ridiculous, damn this community is ungrateful...

I watch SOTG just because it exists and I love SC2 content but to be honest the shows DJ Wheat produces are a lot more better created and hosted and they talk a lot more up to date stuff.

Apparently JP and the crew read this thread (which is a damned if you do damned if you don't kind of thing) so I'll post this here of the offchance that someone with the show might see this amidst all the chaos that is this 2k+ page thread:
I've watched the SotG from its birth. I loved it. I love it now. SotG is amazing for the community (that's a fact). I'd like to thank all the people who contributed to its sucess including all its guests.
Coincidentally, I have also watched JP's casting from its birth as well. When he started to cast with Day9 in the beta and everyone was Korean 4gating. JP is great at casting (also a fact) and has improved incredibly over his involvement with SC2.
So, JP and the rest of SotG, you guys are great. Thanks. -Nick

Tyler in particular was vocal about it if I remember correctly.
And then we have this completely unprepared show, opening up with a title image drawn in paint, connecting an interviewer to his interviewee while auditable on a train, cutting out often. Sorry, it was just completely bad and that has nothing to do with the 'community'. You're just sad person, aren't you? Because i tuned in happy that Sundance will be questioned, that i will hear Incontrol's opinion on it. There could be a picture of shit as a title image, i wouldn't care. It doesn't define the quality of the show. All of them could be in train, i wouldn't care, i would have more respect for them even for putting this up in such conditions. This also doesn't define the quality of the show. What does? Well, something You don't know what means, which is content. Obviously, You didn't tune in for content and You sound like You watch SOTG only to criticize it's production value, which leads us back to the beginning, that You are that sad part of the community. No I am not a sad person. I like listening to podcast while in the car and the audio problems that SotG frequently has just kind of makes that impossible unfortunately. I don't care for production quality either unless it impedes my ability to actually listen to it (see above). I however really don't like being told on the one hand that it took 15 minutes of preparation but then also that it's a 'ton of work on a daily basis'. Which is it?
