Considering that this is a site that sprung from BW, I'm surprised at the relative ignorance of all these people saying that mech is impossible to do in TvP. Look at the history of Starcraft after BroodWar and you will see evolution across all three matchups at strange and unexpected times. At one point TvZ was considered impossible for Z to win on the worst possible maps. Then Savior arrived and completely changed the scene. And as player mechanics, game sense, and timings got consistently more refined certain strategies once though impractical became reality. No one in here has the foresight to know what the future of every matchup will turn out to be.

I mean, before the infestor patch no one ever made infestors, then they nerfed them and I bet you even if they nerfed them back to the old style infestor they would be used still cause zergs figured out how to use them.
The same goes for mech in TvT, hell that did not even take a patch. No one, NO ONE, not even the pro's used mech in TvT for pretty much the entire life span of Sc2. I guess a week before the koreans started meching anyone could had used the same arguments that are being flung around here right now. "if pro's are not meching in tvt then it can't be good" etc. Yet over night, people figured out how to mech in TvT and suddenly it was so strong that blizzard actually had to patch the hellion to make marines more durable against them.
Don't come here and say that there is no way to make mech work in TvP. Has it crossed your mind that many good players have tried mech in TvP and it didn't work out for them? Saying that noone is doing it does not mean noone has tried to do it, but i guess we could all keep our fingers crossed if we really want for whatever reason to think that someone will eventually do and this crap matchup will eventually completely change...
I highly doubt that the the best pros have tested out mech TvP and tested out all the possibilities while trying to confront all the problems. They have the pressure of constantly competing in tournaments and getting results while maintaining their current state and paying attention to the metagame. Sometimes it works out like Morrow's greatly improved ZvP, but he literally had to teach himself mass ling ZvP, which took a good 4-5 months (if I recall correctly). In an environment like the GSL you will not have the time to both reinvent one of your matchups and prepare for your individual matches sufficiently to be confident of winning.

They may very well have, ofcourse my argument is that incontrol and all of you trolls are wasting time stroking your own ego's turning this into a simple black and white question of "is mech viable?" "NO!". End of story. Personally I could not care less about who is right, I am interested in if it is possible and I think it is quite rash and stupid to just assume right now that everything has been tried, it is impossible. I don't even know why people get so emotional about it that they have to somehow prove right now that mech is not viable just to win an argument. But again that is what I meant with saying that this is why so many don't improve at Sc2. When your mindset is to just argue whether or something is possible or not, rather than trying to figure new stuff and identifying the problems and if there are solutions to those problems.
I get emotional because Artosis is the one stroking his ego, not IncontroL. He's merely defending terran players who probably have busted their ass off trying mech builds in TvP over the last year and he's basically saying they don't want to try it because it might be "too hard, but I see goody turtling and he sux so it must work".

Hm well as a zerg I would like to encourage Terrans to try mech UNITS more in TvP, not necessarily exclusively mech units but kinda mixing it up... Think there may be some hidden knowledge there

Eveything may have not been tried, however by definition the fact that obvisouly a lot has been tried and yet noone has found a way to actually make it work means it most probably isn't. There will be exceptions in certain situations but as they make the rule.

Do a FFA between EVERYBODY in the show!

If SoTG #60 gets 40k viewers, iNcontrol has to kiss IdrA on camera. Make it happen.
|
You heard it hear first. If SOTG hits 40k+ viewers on the season 2 finale all of EG will have pink hair. Bright..bright pink.
|
If you get 30-40k viewers, my request is a Day[9] vs Artosis bo7 showmatch with iNcontroL, Tyler, and JP drunk casting =)

I think what we have now is fine. We get to see players play games, and we might get an occasional guest casting or interview.
Well, like the example Artosis gave earlier, when someone does it right, it makes a huge difference. You get insight on players and personalities that enrich the overall experience. Unfortunately, most people have no idea what they are doing and suck at it. For example, I personally think Slasher asks some of the most mindbogglingly dumb questions in his interviews and it drives me nuts that someone with his access can ask such stupid questions, ignoring the fact that he also often uses unnecessarily complicated wording for his translators, who aren't always that experienced. JP, who has his degree in journalism or media communications or something like that, asks some downright awful questions on SotG on a regular basis. Every other episode, he's asking someone if X is the best Y in the world because of the results of ONE event or series as if he had just starting watching competitive anything the day before. It's painful.
As far as those who do reporting/interviews right, apparently Evoli is good, and I agree with Chobopeon being excellent.

if you do the show on a weekend, it might be possible
|
You will get 40+ easy if you have more casters. If you bring on idra/destiny/normal cast/demuslim, something like that you will get 40k + imo.
|
40,000? :O That might be a little too crazy, thats like over 3X the viewers of tonight, and more viewers than NASL grand finals had most of the time
|
SOTG next week = drunk podcast. And hosts want 40k people live to make new record, hopefully we can do it!
|
40k viewers and EG has to shave the beards!!
|
If you want 40,000, you're going to need at least IdrA and Tastless.
gl!
|
for the heavy drinkers on the show... do shots for every 5,000 viewers you have at 30mins in :D
|
i like the showmatch idea, drunk casting and awesome showmatches!
