I generally prefer the vods - was too impatient waiting for it this time though and didn't feel I was missing out on much while listening to the mp3.

Infestor and Ghost get nerfed, Protoss buffed and incontrol is still saying it's probably not enough even though he hasn't had a chance to play with it. So funny considering he was like this when Zerg was UP

so i just listened to the whole mp3... does incontrol like anything from hots? i feel like artosis makes really good points about these small changes that reward skilled high apm players and incontrol just bashes it without any thought. I mean I personally think artosis is a pretty smart commentator/analyser of the game and puts thought into his sentences and made a lot of sense with his analysis of a lot of the new changes while i can't remember one thing incontrol actually liked.
also whats with this hate about the shredder bieing some imba unit? i'm pretty sure the only thing that it counters is mutas and zerglings for zerg, and for toss zealots... i think everything else in the game outranges it's wave... had this knowledge been brought up we may have been able to get 30 more minutes of actually knoweldgable feedback from the pro's instead of wastefull bashing on this unit. but none the less in enjoyed the show and thought tyler, artosis, and especially destiny's feedback was really great, but i honestly like incontrol and watch his stream a lot but from this show in perticular it just makes him look less knowledgable than i think he actually is and more of just a terran bashing troll.
i really agree with destiny and artosis's answer about players switching over to hots as well because the money is in the wol tournaments, i think it's going to be a while before the top level players switch to hots.

Such an epic SOTG. One of the best in a long time. I just love how well Destiny fits in the show. He's so good at delivering his jokes that you start to laugh even before the punchline. And Artosis and the rest of the crew were awesome too.
Gogo Temporal Raptor that attacks your natural before you start building it and the only way to prevent that is to pre-emptively fungal/storm the nearby areas before you start building the natural. Or maybe it eliminates some tech structure in the past causing some of your units to disappear in the current timeline. And the only way to detect it is to watch the replay lol.

Incontrol actually did like some of the units and Artosis even won him over on another one (I forget which one). But really? That is how you're going to start your post. :/

Because it basically discourages multitasking (ling runbys).. personally I don't think there should be another unit that helps Terran to turtle

If you're playing mech as terran, zerg can't really fight you head on, so they've got to do runbys, since your push is too powerful. If you've got a bunch of shredders at key locations, either they can't do the runby at all, or it gets slowed down a fuck ton from having to kill the shredders first. Either way, it's a massive advantage for the mech player to have this unit, I"m not sure it's OP but it's definitely going to be powerful.

i'm glad he won him over on the oracle i think that unit has a lot of potential, and i'm actually an incontrol fan and enjoy his play and commentary and well thought opinions, however i just felt that in this episode what we got out of incontrol is a lot of trolling toward terrans, when even destiny stated he thought that terrans got sort of shafted with these units. i don't necisarrily agree that terrans got shafted, but just the trolling toward terrans generated mainly by incontrol just seemed really off topic and without much understanding of how these units work, and that's not necissarily his fault, but just the fault of no terran player with knowledge of the units being on the show i guess. but i just felt that to be the case and more so coming from incontrol than everyone else. i think understanding the idea behind these changes are the most important not the numbers at this stage and just trolling about how op something is isn't really entertaining or usefull.

But now you got Charging Ultras, the viper that can make siege tanks useless if not moved or positioned correctly.

Best episode in a long time, moar Destiny.

incontrol thought half the units were overpowered and the other half were too weak. Artosis was looking at it a more strategic sense.
I personally think incontrol is looking at it in the wrong way entirely. I see enormous potential for Blizzard to goof up on the Protoss units especially, and of course they will err on the side of weakness. I don't see units that scream 'stable' and 'easily balanced'. I see units that will vacillate from op to worthless very quickly. The void ray is the poster child of the Protoss race in this regard.

i understand that and i wish that was brought up instead of negatively bashing on it as a unit that will just be super imba that will kill anything that attacks it, no... because in reality if there is a shredder protecting a ling run by location. its simple, you send 1 roach down to attack it. what happens? the shredder either dies, lifts up and runs, or an army comes to reinforce the shredder shutting it off and the roach dies.
i really think the main idea behind the shredder and why it was introduced, was to help mech shine in a tvp aspect as warp in is just so powerfull, but we'll just have to see. but again this wasn't brought up because there is no terran player on the show who knows these things to bring them up

I personally not a fan of Destiny's attitude, but he really is the best analysis and his intake on the new units and current game really impressed me on that panel. He did a much better job than everyone there yesterday
btw, shredder isn't that useful as many of you think. A ton of units outranges it, and practically worthless against Protoss. It also severely cuts into your siege tank production that you desperately need against zerg
|
It sems a lot of people approach new HoTS units by imaging that unit added to the current game and calling it OP or UP, when the addition of all of the units with tweaks to current units will create a different backdrop in which the unit may or may not still be OP.
We have to wait to see how everythign fits together/synergizes before we can talk about balance. Arbitrarily inserting a new unit theoretically into current game play is not a productive approach.

Destiny perma on SOTG pls

A pretty dynamic and funny episode this one was, gave me lots of giggles. Keep up the good work and invite Destiny to the podcast more often imo.

Never been a Destiny fan or even watched his stream once but he was really good on SoTG. Would love to have him on again.
