In a none EU language? wut? Sorry but dont Americans speak an EU language.... English?
Ive been disapointed with iNcontroL with his anti-european jokes and perspective also. Seems crazy to disrespect a full continent of potental fans. The more he does it the more Europeans will take offence. Its not funny Geoff and i'd say a guy that wants to continue to be a sponsored and proffessional sportsman should take more care to not purposfully alienate a full continent from his cause, it doesnt make yourself or your sponsors look good in any way.
Also as a guy that states he doesnt like some of the shit he gets on the internet and lets some of that get to him, why insist on publically doing the same thing to all europeans. Thats crazy man, just asking for more hate at the next excuse for internet trolls.
I'll still be watching out for how well iNcontroL does at the next MLG and hoping he can post some good results but i would be a bigger fan if he stopped being a total idiot sometimes.

What I appreciate about the Brood War discussion is that it really put SC2 in perspective. I enjoy SC2 already, but the idea that we're only scratching the surface of what players are capable of makes me really excited to the future.
Cheers guys. Great episode.
I'm just going to go ahead and quote myself in an effort to get this thread back on track, as opposed a witch hunt manufactured by a tiny percentage of hyper-sensitive, holier-than-thou people.
They make fun of Canadians all the time on the show. I make fun of Americans all the time in everyday life. It's all just palling around. Jesus.

ok i don't have to take this. your opinion on this topic is pretty dumb imo.
how is he spreading hate? he's making some light jokes about europeans (and about a lot of other things/people, including his own teammates).
more importantly, what in the world of fuck does that have to do with right wing voters in europe? you think incontrol influences european voters, or do you think people that like his jokes or at least accept them (a lot of it isn't funny to me personally but i'm not offended either) are all racists?
that's ridiculous. i'd rather not vote than vote for a party like the FPÖ or BZÖ, and you will never see me not vote.
i think you're the undercover racist here seeing as this is making you so uncomfortable. you don't find geoff's comments funny, that's fine. but i don't see a reason to bitch about them either. it produces a lot more negativity than the original jokes.

I thought it was funny. The only reason they do it is because of all the people here that complain about their lack of knowledge when it comes to EU players.
Some people just need to relax. You're listening to a podcast that talks about a video game. Settle down and enjoy the show.

Seriously, you call me racist? For what? Because I get offended by racist comments? Don't quit your day job because you clearly aren't a rocket scientist.

Yeah that's what I thought aswell, but then I realized that it's mainly about making fun of europeans.

For the record, InControl or the rest of the cast never made fun of Europeans.
They were making fun of the small contingent of diehard, obnoxious Euro-fans that criticize the show for not talking enough about the European scene or knowing it in depth.
|
When did you Euro's get so sensitive? I mean you guys always criticize Americans for their censorship of swearing and all, calling us too sensitive and so on, and you can't handle some jokes? Have you ever watched any stand up in your entire life? Its a joke. Step back, take a hit, enjoy life.

I can't even... are you real life?
Seriously guys? We openly joke about poking fun at EU people and then watching the threads for the outrage and ... you guys buy it. How? How is this possible?
We are counter-trolling because we know more about the EU scene than any one person that has bitched about our "lack of EU coverage." We do it in the MOST OBVIOUS WAY WE KNOW HOW.. and this still goes under the radar for some of you?
WOWOWOOW
One of my open dreams is to go to europe. I talk all the time about how amazing it's players are (without sarcasm). And I bleed envy when we discuss HSC, DH etc etc.. how is it some of you get so off track by a few blatant jokes?
As a test I will do this:
EU players are garbage and I hate everyone south of Iceland which means almost all of Poland and Turkey
Ok wish me luck!

Well, European isn't a race... You guys are white just like us. You know, we actually are descendants of Europeans and so are all the hosts. Tyler, he's polish! He's one of you!

As an American living in Europe I am cracking up at all you guys who are livid about how Americans tease Europeans but Europeans never make fun of Americans. You guys need to relax a little bit - the ribbing of the Euro-scene on SotG is seriously only because it gets such a ridiculous rise out of this hypersensitive little contigent on the forums.
There are people (MrBitter comes immediately to mind) who feel that there's not enough coverage of the European scene due to the fact that the pillars of the show all live in America and Korea and just aren't familiar with what's going down over here, and I agree with that totally. But getting your panties in a twist over your continent getting teased is a totally separate issue and I wish y'all would get over it already.

i might be wrong but I think stand up comedy is an almost exclusively american thing, with some spinoffs elsewhere. The only stand up to be found in my country are some subtitled reruns of some fox channel show that air late night on cable tv

Really, are you serious? Then again, I can't think of a European stand-up comic out side of Britain ...

This isn't even debatable, if I make fun of all african people that would certainly make me a racist, correct? I really think you people have double standards when it comes down to racism. I personally don't.
you cant be a racist making fun of a continent. To be a racist you must dislike someone because of the color of their skin. Not where they live. if you make fun of someone because of where they live its called being a biggot.
racism /= discrimination

Maybe that's because most other european stand ups never break out of their own country due to the language barrier? :D
