I love the podcast. I don't blame you if you don't bother to do one this week due to the fact that you've done three last week, but I will be sad anyways.

JP said they were going to do one today because they were to tired to do one yesterday. :D

How much of a chance have the players at the event to do such analysis at the spot though? Tyler played Huk and then went pretty much straight into the ring against select, for example.

lol yeah this kid has it backwards. i owned select on friday... pretty much would have been 3-0 if i hadnt slipped up w/ silly errors a bit in game 1. then select had a day to think about how he'd adjust if he played me again. i went into the tournament knowing how to beat what he was doing. what was stupid is that i tried different builds things the 2nd time i played him because i assumed i'd need to. i think i would have done much better if i had played 1 build over and over against him because i think i can outplay him when he does his one build order and i do my one build order. at least the evidence points toward that being true

Yeah, I think it would've worked :/ But you played very very well anyway.

btw, nice to see that you like elliott smith

thanks

So u got physced out by a robot, I mean sticking with the same build did great by him.

you dont remember what this discussion is about? ridiculous... there have been only 200 words and you yourself quoted them so that they're right in front of you and yet you manage to add irrelevant garbage. here's the summary: some guy says that the protoss at mlg might deserve some flack for being unable to defeat select in all his predictability. i correct him with the fact that i did come into the tournament beating his tvp (when he wasnt fatigued...lol). but of course we all know that i also lost to him on day 2 so i also explained what builds we did there and how it happened. i had beaten his predictable tvp one way but i wanted to try to beat it in other ways as well because i thought a variety of strategies would be more robust. the sad truth is i didnt practice enough to be able to play a variety of builds at a high level so the best thing i could have done is stick to the inferior option of playing only one build. bottom line: at least one protoss at mlg was prepared with a way to beat select. it's a fact -- end of discussion.

so you respond to this by just repeating the most obvious statement possible, an observation that was in fact made by incontrol weeks ago and has been made by virtually every person who has commented on select's mlg performace: select does well with only one build.

tyler maybe you can explain, why do people hate on select's 1-build TvP but praise idra's 1-build ZvT?

and on a sidenote, players hardly ever get to study the games of their opponents. you really have to go out of your way to try to get some good info on how your next opponent has been playing and even then you might not be successful. and it's also unreasonable to study all of your opponents in advance and even more unreasonable to prepare something specific for each one. this goes back to the format of this kind of tournament. it all happens very quickly. compare to a starleague where you know your opponent days before you play and you have dozens of hours to research and prepare specifically for that opponent. it's very different. you can try to adjust on-the-fly but if it's not something you coincidentally happened to have practiced already, you probably are not going to execute it well

why is idra a 1-build ZvT? People make fun of him for that a lot but that doesn't seem to be the case from what I've seen (hatch-first doesn't count as a build, and he opens pool first sometimes too, I think)

i think idra's zvt is actually very flexible. he's prepared to make a ton of adjustments and different unit compositions. tvp right now is in such a state that on most maps the terrans can just go MMM and get some vikings later and they can literally do that every single game against anything the protoss is doing.

idra's zvt is like a protoss rushing to observers and then adjusting based on what is scouted and select's tvp is like a protoss 4 warpgate rushing

ps: sylar plz dont kill me

nony don't be in such a bad mood, you have the sexiest voice of them all!

edit: I know I've said that before, but I'm not gay. For Tyler I'd reconsider though. Too bad he's married.

Dear diary,

Today tyler compared what is essentially my pvz play, to Idra's zvt.
It was the best day ever, expect me at gsl 3.

On a side note: does anyone know where i can download the daily state of the weapon on three post-mlg podcast, i haven't been able to find it anywhere.
I have an ice-cold beer, everything is possible.

Yeah its really kinda dumb, like I thought Select was a Korean just studying in USA? Or are his parents just Korean and he's actually a US citizen? Seems weird if there's no actual American. They should've done USA and Canada both get 2!

I feel like I've watched the same TvP on Xel'Naga Caverns 10 times. Its terrible. T goes MMM+vikings, makes PF at gold and its gg.

And then TLO loses that exact matchup in GSL. Sigh....

cause idra doesnt do 1 build zvt, or if you think that all he does still falls under "one build" thats because the zerg doesnt have any other options.

Why all the hate on Select? I mean I know you guys are not really hating him, but you do seem to find any negativity about his play, out of envy perhaps?
