Keeping the friendly competition going between the 3 of us who are working on stats sites atm, I've just put version two of the Sanctuary StarCraft Statistics live onto the site. There are a bunch of changes including : - separate sections for ladder, player and division stats viewing and searching - additional options for filtering ladder searches such as specifying minimum or maximum thresholds for points, games played and win ratio
- links from ladder listings to summary player profiles - player profiles include details of all replays fetauring that player that have been posted to the site's replay system and links to information about the the division the player is in
- listings of divisions by realm and league sortable by a range of player statistics calculated on your choice of the top ranked player, all players, the top 10 or the top 25 players in the division
- summary statistics view with player listings for each division
The best way to see the new features is to try it out.
In terms of player coverage the player counts that are displayed are only for players with a 1v1 profile. I am going through a process of vetting all links to new profiles that are gathered from url harvesting and have a backlong that seems to be sitting at around 120K players no matter how many I get through at the moment
Although I have the data I still haven't put direct links to battle.net profiles or character codes in the information displayed on the site. I'm interested in understanding whether people want to be able to be identified easily in game through sites like this before I put that data available. You an add character codes in when searching for someone but the character code isn't shown when you view a player's profile.

kjadshf everyone is owning me with amazing features. Good stuff
|
Good job robo <3. I can see not putting the character codes though mainly for players like idra and stuff probably dont' watn to be harassed by random noobs
|
well atm you can get them off the links on the two other stats sites so I don't know if there is any real point in me holding back on them. I was actually going to put them in this version of the stats linking off the player profile pages but then I saw some comments where people actually liked the fact that the links weren't available so I pulled them off at the last minute.

I keep getting this error randomly when I do queries "Incorrect access You cannot access this file this way - please refresh your browser page by pressing F5 and try again." Obviously refreshing or redoing my search brings me back to page 1 when I was browsing through on like page 5 and there's no easy way to get back to that page except by starting over, clicking page 3, then clicking page 5.
|
there is a session-based authentication between the browser and the query that has a defined life .. when that expires it requires you to refresh your session - i've extended the session life so hopfully it won't happen as often. It may be silly but I was mainly worried about the load if bots started querying that directly because atm there is a lot of extra load in the initial data validation still.
With respect to getting back to the page it's probably not obvious but if you click on the first link in the page browser (the one that says xxPages ) you get a popup to jump to whatever page you want. The search queries are actually saved in the database so i'll think if there is some way to redierct back to them ... or to refresh the session without losing the search

Excellent. Thanks It works great though. I found myself at like #5300ish lol. w00t! It's very nice, I've only tried one other stats things and it didn't let me do a player search... so definitely not as good as yours.

It's on the battle.net pages, so unless you never link to battle.net profiles and obscure all of the stuff like the battle.net id from users they can still find the character code. It's not really any gain/lost to obscure it.
|
I don't show the detailed link to battle.net profiles or the the character code atm. The average person can't just go and find Idra's b.net profile and if you are his friend than I'm sure he would give you his details to find it so that is mainly the reason I've held back on it atm. Having said that you can use the cascading add friend trick in-game to eventually get to his profile probably and then you'll get his character code and access to his information in game at least

I've changed the session authentication so it shouldn't give people any more issues while they are doing a stats session - there are enough other factors built into it that duration isn't amajor concern any more.
Glad to hear that people like the search functions .. even though I have everything indexed in the database the searching is still placing a significant load on the server so we'll have to see how this goes. I've also shifted to only recalculating division stats if they are more than 30 minutes old and I'll probably do the same with the summary stats
|
Looks way better then the previous, will give it a go, the previous didn't work too hot for me.
Edit: oops was because of no scripts, good job!
|
if you had been to the site before this version you need to make sure your cache updates as the javascript has changed .... usually it's ok and updates but some people seem to have problems getting the file to update.

Idra sets his status to busy whenever he's laddering, so millions of people knowing his bnet character code doesn't affect him.

Layout looks messed up for me for this information: 1v1 Counts Total N. America Europe Korea SE Asia Taiwan L. America Russia Players 358,282 147,130 110,413 42,848 18,106 23,504 3,919 12,362 Divisions 3,733 1,613 1,090 424 189 228 53 133
"Rank Name Points" etc are also aligned wrong. I am using Firefox 3.5.11 with a 1600*900 resolution.

Nice improvement and some good competition for sure :-) Think I'll stick to focusing on the top Diamond players, since both your site and the other one did a good job in covering all the leagues.
|
On the main page it says there are 358,661 players, however when u do a search for all regions and all leagues only 284,056 players show up...
|
We've set up a new address that you can access the stats page through that will be easier to remember .. it will redirect you to the normal address
You can now access the Sanctuary StarCraft Statistics at http://rts-sanctuary.com/sc2stats.php
|
A lot of the divisions are mislabeled. My division, along with my friend's division, are labeled as platinum when we are both in different diamond divisions
|
Is it possible to view overall rankings of players? I cant seem to find where that would be. The site looks good though.
|
i'll run an update to recheck division names - they are saved the first time they are discovered so they shouldn't have changed but I must admit I haven't checked them since initial discovery
|
Woot, I'm the only guy in all the servers with my name!
Great new features. Loving it!
EDIT: Not sure if this is a mistake/issue, but when you mouse over the Brazilian flag the little caption that pops up says it's "North America" rather than "Latin America."

How does "rank" work, and how come there are people in the bronze league ranked higher than me? (I'm diamond)

The rank is your rank in your league (eg diamond) and on your region (eg north america). I set the rank system up to show it by region and league because comparisons across regions are less accurate (you aren't playing people from those other regions) and between the leagues there is no translation factor to say, for example, 400 points in platinum is worth 100 points in diamond.
I originally set the ranking so you couldn't search multiple regions but people wanted that ability so I added it. There is a note when you view it across regions that the 'rank' column is the players rank in their region while the first column is their overall rank across regions in that league
|
If there was a graph somewhere which plotted the ratings of players within leagues... well I'd probably go to that rankings site a lot more frequently ;]

Worldwide player count: Diamond - 28939 Platinum - 79499 Gold - 105402 Silver - 103988 Bronze - 162524
