This is the MOST INSANE GAME I have EVER played. I really want to describe it so people will watch it but I don't want to spoil it. All i'll say is you can 4x or 8x through the first 30 minutes as its relatively standard. But the last 10 minutes after that are fricken crazy. My heartrate was through the roof while playing the end of it..
Massive Base Trade where I Save a Pylon on 12hp from dying. 1 Hydra Shot away from dying. After that, with nothing but the army I have, manage to kill off 2+ bases plus defend from overlord drops onto the pylon to kill it where it once again gets down to 10 shield 12 hp. 2 shots from dying.... and me losing. Clutch ForceFields FTW! Collosus with 70+ kills as well
i threw that game away pretty badly trying to take my fourth base. bad pos, 2 tanks sieging the PF when he could be defending and not enough production buildings T.T
What makes this game interesting is that the Terran seems to be at a disadvantage throughout the early and mid game stages, and even in most of the lategame. There is a lot of back and forth through out the course of the game, where both players made attack decisions that probably weren't the best thought out, positioned, or executed. But there are many battles and a lot of harass going on. The Terran abuses its strength of defense and the Zerg abuses its ability to, as Day9 would say, MAKE A TON OF STUFF really quickly. The game ends out to be 56 minutes long (in game minutes?), with almost all the resources of the map drained out.
Even more details about specific parts of the game that I remember enough right now to note... + Show Spoiler +
The main reason why the game is interesting is because the T fights uphill for most of the game until the lategame, where he is able to make a comeback against a Z who has had map control and freedom to do whatever he wanted for the entire early and mid game.
Detailed summary of what I remember at the top of my head:
Terran spawns at the 9 o'clock and the Zerg in the 6 o'clock on Lost Temple. Terran fails the bunker rush at the beginning and does not cancel the bunker in time. Terran tries to send a CC to the top left expansion; there is a scout from the Zerg but he continues to float to the island, unsure of whether it was seen or not. The Zerg denies the secret expo with a Nydus, killing some SCVs. At this point the Zerg has a strong economy as he expands more and the T's economy is dying out while he tries to set up some expos, including attempts to retake the island.
In the mid game, several battles occur, with tons of units dying each time. Terran eventually takes the natural but, even with bunkers and siege tanks, eventually is pushed back into his main. While the T is stuck in the base Z keeps up his good economy and maintains map control. Attempts to take the gold by Terran is denied at least once, and sometime a CC is killed as it tries to return to safety. The Zerg enters the T's base with a Nydus worm but is easily fended off.
In the late game, Zerg has the entire bottom and right side of the map, while the Terran's main and natural get destroyed. Throughout the late game the Terran does many drops, some successful and some failures and harasses Zerg's expos with Ravens, while the Zerg tries to finish off the Terran. The Terran tries to set up a couple PFs on his half of the map to help defend his new bases but fails. The Terran has his island expansion though, almost out of resources, and 1 base at the 1 o'clock position. He quickly sets up some production buildings while the Zerg keeps pumping out a ton of Hydra/Roach and harasses a lot with Mutas. The Terran manages to hold off for some time at the top, eventually taking the top's natural. At one point, in what seems to be GG, the Zerg breaks in with a mass of Roaches, killing off the remaining army that the Terran has in his new main. Although he still has much of his Roach army, the Terran manages to keep pumping out Tanks/Rauders with only four Rax and with micro and a few medivacs manages to kill the remaining Roaches. By this time the Zerg's gold has run out recently, and only has the two bases on the right of LT. With more Raven harass the T is able to mass an army, maxing his supply and by pushing out, he wins the game.
A lot of Protoss have difficulties against early Terran aggression; here's a pretty one-sided replay against a 1500 diamond Terran showing off the use of hallucinations and a timing attack when the opponent tries to expand - despite an epic fail of my warp-prim drop.
Of course that Terran was a bit greedy, trying to expand AND tech at the same time, when he saw that I was on a 4 gate + robo. However I believe this build would stand well against any terran that goes 3/4 rax and heavy marauders.
