They should add IdrA syndrome achievement!

But in all seriousness, I don't mind them. Some people like them so why not have them? I only hope that you could turn them off. I just can imagine in the future Flash vs Jaedong in SC2 OSL and MEATGRINDER!!!!! achievement popping up.

I fail to grasp the essence of this achievement whine.What's the big deal? So yeah they introduced SOMETHING more casual oriented, not mandatory at all. Nobody forces you to grind achievements. Im not an achievement whore myself, never was, even in WoW which i used to play for years I always did achievements that I felt will give me personal satisfaction.

So far in beta I had a few achieves including Zeg Macro Master, Would you kindly etc. Everytime i get an achi makes me happy cause obviously i did something right. Like for instance I just got Would you kindly (kill 5 units with a single neural-parasited unit). I didn't know what the achi was about and then I checked that out and realized that Thor really did some serious damage apart from just being taken out of enemy's army.

So, It's nice, it's shiny, it kind of rewards you for good play and NO ONE forces you to grind it. So why the whine? And I'm sure bliz will make sure this is turned off for serious tournaments. And even if they don't I just can't picture how a tiny box appearing for 3 secs at the bottom of your screen CAN AFFECT the game result. Srsly, all it will do it's make it even more interesting and exciting for spectators.

Elitism is bad, it's terrible, I used to be like that as well, all it does is takes away the fun from others. It's 2010 not 1998, games are out from underground so just deal with the fact that they want to attract the masses. Nothing wrong with that, more players, more game hype, more sponsorship. It's good for the game.

You can still pwn noobs though, don't worry.

I don't like achievements. If they weren't in the game I wouldn't worry about them, now I will do random ones even though I know they're useless. And look up to people who have tons of them, even though they might not be able to play well at all.

I don't care about them it's good if the community loves them.
But why do they pop during the fights ingame ?

Is there an option to hide this?

Achievements are fine, I'll probably get them when I'm a bit bored with laddering every once in a while. Why not, can give a bit of motivation to try new and different things you might not try otherwise.

But there should be an option to disable the notification in game, and to stop receiving notifications when friends get them. Although I guess the last part isn't a big deal since it only happens in the menu, but still

offcourse achivements sucks, it's just a bad idea. I really think they need to implement a way to keep achivements from popping up in game, it can be oh so annoying.

why can't both the casuals and the elitists be happy then, why is it so wrong to have an option to turn of achivements?

I like them, bit annoying having them pop up in game so intrusively but meh, hasn't really affected all that much. On the whole it gives me something to do when I can't be bothered playing seriously, which is fairly often. Up to 550 now >.<

E: 560 even, forgot that I got the Raining Blood achievement in last game :p

Yes it's annoying when they popup but I'm sure there will be an option to hide this properly very soon. Also, I miss the ability to link an achivement in chat (like in WoW) to show off to a friend or something. Or is there a way and I just missed it?

i think the achievements has taken a huge leap forwards altough i hope they add at least times more of the funny ones that are not win X games etc

i really hope they in the menu to disable these achievements boxes that appear in the screen, really annoying to get them during tournaments. alright i just lost the game because of this box that appeared in middle of screen but at least im happy i dropped 30 mules this game, yaay

I really think we're missing an angle here. I think we should try to use the achievement notification strategically to our advantage. When you're in a close game that you know is going to come down to some key, decisive event (be it a battle in the middle, a drop in their main, etc), you get your opponent to accomplish an achievement as the event happens. So they're trying to micro their casters vs your army in an epic battle that will decide the game, and BAM! The achievement box pops up, preventing any micro by your opponent, ensuring you victory.

I wish they had some achievements open for certain divisions only like the meatgrinder for pro league division and perhaps a clip from the game showing them pulling it off O;

It's a shame you can do any of these against A.I. and other b.s.

I usually play console FPS and yes achievements are nice there. In the starcraft world...they sound ridiculous. OMG I got 10 points for killing 2 zerlings with storm! my life is complete.

I got the Meatgrinder achievement in my first game as Protoss I actually think it should be harder to get than it is because as Terran and Protoss (hell with Fungal/Blings even Zerg) its pretty damn easy to blow up 50 population of food in 15 seconds. I mean all I had to do was make 5 Colossi and A-move the Zerg army I was against and I got the achievement (massive Ling/Bling swarm with Mutas/Corrupters versus Archon/Phoenix/Colossi) - I wasn't even trying to get it. Basically I think there should be an option called 'Disable In-game Achievement Notifications' for those who find the pop-up annoying. That said I think there is a fairly decent mix of achievements in that there are some that are hard for new players but easy for experienced ones, and then still harder achievements that are more long-term goals for people.
