Is anyone else getting this problem where you're in the loading screen, put in your account, and hit enter and it says "The game is currently waiting for a response from Battle.net. The service may be temporarily unavailable or your internet connetion may be down."
Then after like 10-15 seconds it pops up a second window saying "Can't connect to Battle.net. Battle.net may be temporarily unavailable or your internet connection may be down. Please check your connection and try again later."
I have this with my own account, when I tried logging on my cousin's account, it at least lets me put in the email address, and then I put in the password and hit enter, and then no progress is made.
I've had beta sinec patch 8 and it worked fine in patch 8, I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on, because this seems to be an issue taht showed up on the battle.net forums but there have been zero responses. I can't even say that I have a similar issue, because I don't have a character (haven't logged in since patch 9 wipe to make one) so it won't let me post.
What the hell is going on, a friend told me that they just tried logging in a 2nd time and it worked, but I've tried over 50 times now and it just won't seem to connect. My internet connection is fine, someone help me out -.-

If you're loading the game through Steam or Xfire or anything like that, just load it normally.
Otherwise try typing in the password wrong on purpose, then login with the correct password.
No idea why these might work, but the first got me past a problem where the patcher would crash and the second got me past the problem you described.

What in gods name are you talking about. I am not loading this game through anything, I'm loading it through the game client. Try typing in the password wrong? I can't even GET to the part where they ask for my password, its saying i can't connect when all it asks for is my email address.
I just logged into my cousins account fine, got into beta perfectly fine, logged out and STILL can't get on my own account.

I have same problem, gets waiting for connection from b.net blah blah with my b.net acct, but I can login with my friend's account.

I am having the same problem.
I live in Canada and I could play perfectly well until I got the new patch 9.
I guess Blizzard knows this problem and we should just wait until they fix the problem.
Even if I type a random account, it still shows the same problem.
In my opinion, battle.net is not able to find out if those accounts have sc2 beta since typing some people's b.net account with beta and writing down random account has the same problem.

OK so.. i still have this problem this morning.. this might be fine for some ppl missing a few days.. but I PLAY HDH tournament soon and other tournaments.. i need this fixed ASAP.. i still can not log on my account..... Plz somone fix this!!
Last night at 4am.. i reinstalled the game just to make sure that wasnt the problem.. patched it and everything just fine.. go to log in... and Boom same error msg --;

have the same problem too, thought it was linked to maybe a new influx of beta players (I just got my key yesterday night). Patched correctly and didn't get a chance yet to taste sc2 =o

i played 100000 beta games prior to this.. patched it fine 2 times.. and still doesnt work

im in europe and we dont have the patch yet. but bnet is kinda buggy aswell. sometimes it needs two tries to log into my account. each time i log in and click on the profile tab it shows a different name and identifier yet seldomly my own .... and my league status is all over the place like from rank 30 plat to 5 remaining in training league...
one could assume that blizzard has a problem o_O

but they have scheduled server maintenance at 7pm CET... so maybe in like 3,5h we know more

I just got the beta yesterday, got it installed and patched.
Now i have this problem, hopefully its fixed as i am anxious to try.
However it is a beta... so thigns like this happen.
My only real complaint is i dont have a "character" so catn post on the sc2 technical support forums about it... how silly is that?

LZ, you might be able to borrow an account for the HDH if worst comes to worst but man I'm feeling your pain to like 1/10th of the degree, and this shit sucks.

Yea right its been since the servers are up that i cant login, couldn't not even once ive tried everything:
Rebooting PC
Closing Firewall
Closing AntiVirus
Selective Startup
Changing IP
Rebooting Modem/Router
Logging in with another account:That one worked, but who cares when its not your account, blizzard ain't even answering on their forums.

Thanks for the help im felling better now that i am reading a book instead of getting my sc2 drug dose, no seriously guys, blizz doesn't care about us and thats why they ain't posting a fix.
And this is "Account-Related" i think, since we are all able to login on a friend account.

I found I always had to log in twice to get it to work. It would say Welcome blah blah, then i click enter or what ever and it takes me back to the login screen. I log in again and it works.

i have this problem too, i just keep re-trying and eventually i get in.. loading usually takes forever from password screen though

he has more then 1 account he plays on.. i know that forsure rather he's been playing or not.. doesnt matter if i log on and blizzard switched all my hotkeys i can lose just like anyone could.

Finally got the patch to stop looping, then got this problem. Oh well, I will be patient. As long as it is an account based problem and nothing is wrong with my install after that whole fiasco I am somewhat content.

Can somebody please confirm:
I can't even see the patch-note thingy to the left of the log-in screen... Is that normal with this problem? Or do I have ANOTHER problem on top of that?

I installed patch 9 and my login screen only shows an area for my email. Also the Starcraft 2 text up to is cut in half to something like Starc. No patch note window and the game crashes if I enter my email address and click ok.

1. had the problem from this thread
2. tried some things and figured i try a reinstall of SC2 as a last resort...
3. downloaded sc2 installer fresh from battlenet account page
4. installed it
5. patched up to patch 8 by itself (!?!?) but not patch 9... on top when i started game with patch 8 it straight CRASHED every time
6. tried EVERYTHING to patch to 9, even doing it FULLY manual... no success...
now here comes the part that has me scratching my head:
7. downloaded a VERY old version via rapidshare, one that I used prior up to that point (dated around beta start, so MONTHS old)
8. installed it and it patched fine all the way to patch 9
9. back to nr.1, now I'm waiting just like everybody in this thread...
It's the weirdest stuff I EVER experienced while updating/installing...
btw: I should be european battlenet...
Seems that the entire client download might be messed up right now? If the old version works, but the 0-day didn't?

i think you should try this, i tried this with the korean version, got into the login screen, no crash, but cannot connect to Bnet because of server error i think. But i agree, the download client is screwing up really bad.

I've got my problem solved (almost). I didnt have time to read through all the pages, sorry if anyone has pointed this out, but i post this here so someone new can try if it works for them.
I'm from VietNam, i've recieved my beta key from my friend a day ago, i was very eager to install it. But when making my Bnet account. I selected Vietnam as where i live, i was locked with Korean region. I didnt think it was a big deal because i can change the language to English. But after locked the beta key to my account, i realized that i cant change region and i'm stuck with korean's version.
Now the problem with the patch. As some guys above said, it only patches to about patch4 and then THINK it's the final patch, when i start the game up , it crash.
First i tried to download the patches manually and install, but it didnt work, i realized that there are patches for localized version also (EU, KR) , and those patches i downloaded manually didnt come with it
Then i tried this method and it worked. At least right now it's downloading all the pactches (including regional patch) normally
-Re-install SC2, open starcraft2.exe , let it update.
-When it said, patched successful , do not hit the play button
-Close the Launcher.
-No in the folder SUPPORT, u see the reallist.stf.
-Open itt with notepad, if u have like "set patchlist kr-beta.patch.battle.net:1120/patch"
-Then change it to "set patchlist us-beta.patch.battle.net:1120/patch"
-Open starcraft2.exe again, it will continue to update
-Notice on the bar, see what version it's at, if it's not the lastest version, go to the support folder, then change the reallist.stf again
-Then open starcraft2.exe, it should continue downloading and patching
-Do this again and again until it's at the final patch, because the reallist.stf file got reset everytime a new patch apply
-After it's at the lastest patch, u can enter the game, no crash.
-Only Problem is: i cannot login for now both US and KR version, alot of people get this too, maybe blizz is having problem with Bnet

actually that method get u the updates, but u cannot login because it said "invalid version", i think it's because either SC2 didnt download enough localized patches yet OR other region server around the world except the US is not updated to the lastest patch yet, so it recognize our version as invalid.

Some of us got the beta 24h ago lol.... and have not been able to try it.
Thats becides the point it is a beta, i would just love a blizzard post saying they are aware and are working on it (all blizzard posts have been for other issues not the one in question here).
I will patiently wait some more, i am sure they are working on it.

1. When you first click connect with just your e-mail address and the timeout/bnet connectivity messages pop up, click OK on both of them.
2. Click connect again. This time the password box should show up. Type in your password and click connect again. This time the box grays out and nothing happens -- it appears to be stuck.
3. Click on the arrow button (I think it's for changing accounts) next to your e-mail address -- this will effectively cancel the previous connection attempt and un-gray out the connect box.
4. Reconnect again with your credentials and you should see your character appear (or be able to create it) and will be allowed to enter bnet as normal.
5. You may have to repeat certain steps in the process before it finally works.
This process has worked for me so far. I hope it helps some of you guys as well. Good luck!

i just checked my login e-mail and i received a message from bliz asking for a comfirmation of my login account... after i did that on my b.net account my login is working fine. try checking all your battle.net accounts and see if there may be anything you can do.

everytime I try to connect and it doesn't work restarting my client lets me connect
and it's completely consistent about that, everytime I put in my email the first time it hangs, I quit the game, second time it works.

You need to realize you're not having the same problem as us. I had your problem on a 2nd account before, where if i click ok, and connect a 2nd time it works, but for some accounts it NEVER connects the email address and NEVER even gets to the password screen.

I am now able to login (takes 2 tries, used to never work no matter how many tries).
I cant help much, but keep trying?

Wait a sec...I just read that thread. First of all their issue sounds similar but not identical, second of all the blizzard poster said something along the lines of that the patch for EU is starting soon, and that once its over we'll be able to connect our accounts. But why is it that we haven't been able to connect for 24 hours now when EU hasn't been patching for 24 hours.

I think they're ninja patching the larvae trick for zerg since it seems that my friends can't connect as well.

I sure hope this patch includes a fix to the connection issues. I would think it's a top priority.
Edit: Just want to add that since they took the servers down I can now have the option to enter a password. I think that's a good sign.

I hate that it's so easy to sign up to a fan site but following given notes on how to log into the actual site is fruitless. I'm curious, if I received a Beta friend invite am I eligible to write in the SC2 forums? I would think I should be able to! Even using a key from a previous game I'm unable to log in. Finally was able to get it to recognize my blizz account but it says I don't have a character suitable and "The account you are logged in with is not able to post on this forum." Anyone tell me anything?

Edit: I've been on the Beta for a little over a month and never able to log into forums. First time getting anywhere near that point today. Server is back online right now. Appears they did another character/info wipe. Happy hunting.

Sorry for borrowing this thread, but I just received a beta key and i'm downloading the client right now. I live in Asia (Singapore) and when i registered my key, Bnet activated the korean version of the game on my account.
Could anyone help me clarify a couple of things?
1. Is it possible to change the language to english? Right now i'm downloading the game and everything in the launcher is in Korean and i do not speak it.
2. Am I only able to play with other korean players on Bnet? Or is it a universal client where I can play also with US/EU players?

1. You can change but u should dl KR Client and get update 1st
2. Yes u only play on Kr server

I'm from vietnam and stuck with the Kr client too. How did u change language to English after getting into the game? i see no option .
