Here's how this will work. Throughout the day, a game name and password hint will appear. Once the game fills up, it will start. The winner will get a key. The games are created on ICCup and you need the ICCup launcher to participate. Replays will be posted.
Red means there are slots remaining
Rules: 1. ICCup Launcher Anti-Hack On. 2. Don't lag. 3. Game host reserves the right to kick anyone for whatever reason (lag, BM, etc). 4. Be nice! BM can get you disqualified from future TL events.
If you want to hear Chill, Intrigue, and myself "commentate" the last 4-5 games of challenge #3, it is available in VOD format on demand at Roffles' Livestream Channel.

I figured that much out, and I noticed that I was wrong about Midas, but how did you guys actually find the game? I had the ICCup launcher open and was hunting through channels to find the game, and was unsuccesful. Had that problem last time too... Is there a specific channel for these games? If so, what is it?
Lolz Day 9. Iirc there was someone in the one line confessions thread who said that he and his brother used to go into 1v1v1 FFAs and pretend not to know each other. Then when the game started they'd ally up and try to own a random pubbie. They still failed sometimes 2v1 though. It was probably that guy that raped Day.

Use map settings, basically fun games with no particular points value. These games are mostly recreating previous world events (Nazi Prison) and recreating situations (micro challenges)
I watched the replay too, but that's not how you win FFA's... There were these FFA tournaments for beta keys months back, and I lost twice in the finals b/c I eliminated ppl, and ran out of resources, then the camping terran with 2 bases ran me over

From what I've gathered from this thread and others, someone tried it in a previous FFA and was denied. Not sure if it was the one this thread's first replay was based on.
lol thank you :D I think for the most of the game I was pretty weak, orange would live through my drop but had no vessels to defend it white and red got both killed by 2 people I could attack top left zerg only because mnm weakened his sunkens... not sure if my muta would be strong enough, he could get enough hydras

Basically, you register on iccup, download the 'anti-hack launcher' (PC users, unsure about the whole Mac thing with ICCUP,) and run the Launcher.exe in the iccup launcher directory.

doesn't anyone else see this the same way?
no, because the over-the-top players have keys allready.
It will not get any easier than this, starcraft is old, a lot of people played it for a lot of time.
Oh man this new challenge is awesome. I'm all over that stream. But yeah, it'll just be a matter of surviving the initial ling aggression. After that it should be smooth sailing.

yep, but problem is one zerg presses you from begining hard, when the other techs straight to guardians.

Don't you think the people who spend more time on TL deserve a key? Or are these people equally deserving...
People who win multiple keys deserve them, and will hand them out to friends / other users. Nobody is giong to win extra keys and hide them in their closet for all time.

yeah, that is THE problem. but surely a decent player who turtles really hard could handle it right?
maybe protoss mass zealots/cannons early game? lol
to narrow down the number of ppl who join and wasting time cuz they are complete newbs, make the requirement at least C- or something. This way, u won't get flooded, the game will be decent, and a SC veteran can get a key.
cuz right now most ppl that join have no chance of winning, and games are 1sided rape... it will take so long just to give 1 key away.
You will play 1v2 against Hot_Bid and intrigue on BGH. They will both choose Zerg and have the handicap of staying on one hatchery all game. If you win, you get a beta key. Challenge will continue until someone defeats us.
hot bid and intrigue should be disqualify for NOT staying at one hatchery getting lair and hive are cheating!!!

You gotta be able to defend the speed of a 1 hatch build with double the power in the earlygame though.
If I get into this imma just mass cannon up and go sair/reaver or somethin. APM requirement is basically negated because the zerg cannot take the whole map

wall in with a bunk or 2 if necessary and power scv while you tech up to mech
good luck use stream chat advice I saw: /where rofflez + Show Spoiler +
or [um]hotbid or tsl-intrigue
if they are not in a game hit tab twice, then backspace (space is considered as a part of a nick by iccup it seems so you will get "Unknown user." otherwise) repeat once you have name you only need password from the stream...
The sad part is that most of these noobs who are trying for the key right now would probably get into copper/bronze in SC2, play for a few days then get bored and never log on again.
haha i actually found this quite challenging. ZvZZ i got 1 hatch ultra rushed kekeke;; although i think if i set up my second hatch with mutas a bit faster i would have done ok. As previously mentioned, the best strategies are probably turtling with terran/protoss. However, people are underestimating the macro of 2 hatches. Even in the midgame, 2 hatch worth of super high tech is actually quite good.
On April 21 2010 08:59 Sadistx wrote: you have to realize that this is bgh, so with 2 gas they can rush hive tech and get it twice as fast. It's like a 2 base defiler/ultra essentially.
Even though it's 1v2, the zergs are limited to 1 hatch each, so in total you're playing against a zerg who starts with 2 hatches and cannot build more. Since resources can't be traded you're basically playing against a 1 base zerg with a high amount of gas.

Except they're not. We just saw 2gate vs burrowed speedling.

great, first day i'm not able to view livestream for some reason... i can view youtube other streams just fine and there seems to be no other problems with my internet.. nobody else having this problem currently??
Man 1v2 BGH vs 1 hatch zergs sounds so fckn easy. I'd be all over this if it's still going on when I got home, but I don't know if staff should enter? (I can't watch stream from here to see if he's winning)
If I was trying to get a beta key through this I'd be thoroughly pissed off.
In the most recent 2 games there was no way for people to even have a chance to join. Watching the stream gave no clue as to the name/password of the game t.t
I just want to join cuz it sounds fun. And it's annoying seeing people lose when it's not that hard.
*sigh, this isn't that hard to win... wish people would just listen to stream and follow the advice instead of making 10 million cannons and getting owned cuz they didn't tech to reavers....

I've won PvZZ on BGH (from the start of the game) before vs some TLers when practicing this sort of stuff (and they had no restrictions on hatches). It shouldn't be hard imo :O
I don't think it was Intrigue/HotBid who I played it on though.
I think another one of this tournament but one for each race, like PvZZ TvZZ ZvZZ would be a fun tournament to continue on this to see if it really is possible or not :D
this thing's impossible to get in for me... not sure why really........ my gf and i tried to get in it since it started, but people are just ridiculously fast...

Give stalife a key imo. He was a pretty damn good bw player. Most players who were as good as him (B+/A-) have keys already.
It's really not that hard with terran.... I'm a C terran and I would've cleaned that up. The problem is all the terrans that played were like D+ at the very best.
MnM wraith would completely destroy. Just micro rines well off of 4 rax, put up some turrets, and go 2x starport.

gfg.
it was pretty simple really... it was frustrating to watch, all he had to do was build a few more turrets and get 2 starports up and start producing vessels/wraith. he definitely had the extra minerals/gas.
i think it's actually harder than you guys think... i think terran has the best chance, but for ppl who are playing 1v2 for first time, it's still pretty hard. I know chosen is at least B- with protoss, and he lost and he's A user on iccup

maybe, but the terran really had this, but got nervous and thought he needed to move out when in fact you just need to stay alive until you can outproduce 2 hatcheries and dont fall to their teching.
But the matches were entertaining, i just wish the last one would have been 2v3
i was going to ling tight wall two port wraith and then make siege tanks and build bunker if i needed too. figure wraiths would force hydras but not enough larvae to defend and attack and then just have tanks bcuz the two gas geysers.

haha yea true. An hour long ffa on those maps would be pretty fast too. And having it just be a top 4 all get keys or something would kill the way a FFA works which obv. isn't good.
gl to the participants in this, it's definitely one of the easiest ways to get a key so far.
Have one guy 6 pool, (both players drone scout relatively early to find the P)
While other guy goes 12 hat into ranged hydra to force mass cannon or loss. While original 6 pooler rushes 1 hatch guardians.
pw was newb, but it was full. Damn my slow computer.
edit: nvm haha I put in "newb" and it said game is full. I changed it to something else and got the same message. Guess it does that even for incorrect pw's...

TL obviously didn't beta test these challenges because the balance has all wrong!
they are breaking insane's front wallin with lurkers, but insane is not in danger of dying to early aggression and the zergs are limited to 3 hatches total
What's the answer for this one? FPRG? So many. I typed in deus ex, the greatest of them all, and didn't get in. Is it system shock, or utter horror, fallout 3?
IMO the passwords are abit unfair because sometimes its stuff some people know and others dont = they get the chance and the other no chance of joining. so i think it should be something blatantly obvious so that everyone gets a fair chance just having to be quick.

But then you would just complain that others have faster internet/computers so they can refresh faster and then you will argue that people will slow computers/internet should get a head start etc. The current method is fair.
Well, thats what the game of starcraft is for? and you have to be super quick to join aswell.
No im absolutely not going to complain that somepeople have better refreshskillz and specs than me. Im just saying if its about something like rpg fps games that some of us dont play we get virtually no chance of joining the game. but if its a easy password everyone gets a chance. understand? No chance for some vs some chance for all.
Well if you dont understand my logic in that argument i dont know how to make it clearer. But, im just saying my view of it. Whatever happens is beyond my control.
