Eleine=awesome! How high is she on ladder? She seems to know those little tidbits(Like Ret being good offracing protoss!) about players that make listening to her commentating VERY interesting!
Please continue the good work...
Also loved the Tastosis references...

The Beard makes GLHF#1 awesome, very nice

Beard, the short features you bring up, just giving people a heads up whats going on and filming around the place are awesome. You're really good at not dropping the ball, kudos to you sir.

The production is good for GLHF#1 @ assembly (only problem is the tech problems). But the casters are not doing it for me. They should try to have 1 guy do play by play and the other should try to think abit more before he says something.
Great music in the pauses.

The commentators on GLHF #1 are horrible. The crap they spew out of their mouth (mainly the Maven guy) is so ignorant and aggravating. It'd be okay if they don't have the charisma or whatever as long as they actually have some knowledge of the game. It sucks that I have to watch it on mute because I can't stand their banter.

However Gunrun and Eleine (i think?) on GLHF #2 are actually pretty good. They are both excited about the game and convey legit thoughts for the viewers. You can tell they actually enjoy the games.

Kudos to the folks on the Khaldor stream too! They are awesome even though I don't understand a thing they say :D

I couldn't agree more tbh.

I just watched a German stream instead, and I don't speak German. Which says alot imho.

Yeah. I also switched to Khaldor, the GLHF casters made me really sad. I dunno, it just seems they don't care about the game or they are nervous or something. A cast really needs energy, positive energy. The casters had a lot of negative energy, they almost seemed hostile at times. I don't think the casters are necessarily bad, they just have the wrong mindset.

It's like they are watching the game at home and casually talking about it with some friend on Skype. There is no Day9 energy, there is no TotalBiscuit energy, there isn't even any HD/Husky energy. It's like BlizShouter casting a bad game when he hasn't slept for 22 hours. That's the level of energy the casters are putting into it.

I too have to criticize the GLHF.tv stream despite the work they and their team have put into their coverage.

Stream #1 was downright unwatchable. The commentators alternated between states of cluelessness, massive demotivation and inadequate bad humor. Also, they tried copying Tasteosis' style so badly in so many situations that it just made me cringe. I was sad for the games I missed because I couldn't stand watching their stream, and ended up watching Khaldor for pretty much all the rest of the day.

Those guys could be decent casters - some time in the future. But they shouldn't cast such a huge tournament when they're clearly not in the mood or don't know what they're talking about (or both). Too bad TotalBiscuit didn't get to cast more games, he would have made for a much better english cast.

The worst thing about the GLHF stream is not the casters, its the music.

Agree with all of this, I too switched to the german one. I love watching GLHF.tv on sundays with Gunrun. Back in the beta during the very first zotacs, getting up watching GLHF with Gunrun and his awesome voice+music was awesome. ;D

But the cast during Assembly isn't good at all. Much has been mentioned already. And they don't have to be day9, there are alot of casting styles, e.g Day9 vs TB, completely different styles but both excellent casters in their own way. I'm sure they are doing a better job then I could do but I expect them to be more professional and have more quality in their casting/commentary, specially when they are the official english casters resulting in other english streams getting kick out off the game. I had a hard time believing what they were saying and taking them serious, felt like it was two randoms doing this for their first time.

And during the interview with the Liquid guys I just turned it off.. Felt like a fan boy was commentating, not holding the mic when Tyler was walking etc..

TheGunrun and Eleine should cast 24/7 and never sleep. Shouldn't be terribly difficult.

more like Elliott Smith, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, etc...

Anyways, I apologize for starting an argument about music on this thread. To keep it on proper topic, I think the casters are actually doing a better job for this finals match. The stream seems to lag during big battles though.

They should be playing Parov Stelar and Infected Mushroom The hard (finnish?) metal they are playing in the pauses just sounds like loud noise to me.

Yea the casting is just very cheesy and they seem to have very little knowledge of the game.

I don't usually have a go at casters, but it must be said that the two people casting today were terrible. They had no motivation, just sapped all of the energy out of the games and the event to the point it made me not care about the tournament and I went and did something else. Bear in mind this was the semi final.

The technician bloke (Beard I think?) did a better job than them, and even tried to get them pumped up by having the crowd give them a cheer. All it did was elicit a nervous laugh and then more dead air. Very poor.

I have to agree with a lot of people. I prefer the german stream over glhf #1, though I do not understand german what so ever. TheGunRun and that girl he was casting with, did an awesome job imo. There were times the camera was a bit off the action, but the casting was great.

There's a lot of white knighting and swooning in this thread, its a shame. I do agree with the above poster, had to mute both streams while watching and eventually decided on watching Khaldor's stream because the quality was better. I probably wouldn't be so harsh in my following post if the there weren't so many hiccups in the broadcast and the streaming quality wasn't the best.

There was way to much random banter in GLHF 2. The female caster spent way too much time babbling then commentating, the male caster sounded nervous working with a female, and they were late / outright missed key points in several games. GLHF 1 was just outright terrible, neither had a casting voice, tried copying tastetosis style, and very little insight. Both GLHF1 and 2 did a terrible at job at making lack luster games exciting. It was just very stale and I didn't find myself watching / listening for long.

I don't want to be overly negative, but it seems like I have to be crass given that it seems people are swooning over a female commentator. I do have to say though, out of the casters in GLHF1 and 2, she definitely showed the most knowledge. If she got a better microphone, takes some advice from the previous post about voice quality, and calms down a bit with the random banter, then she has some potential as a caster. I just don't have anything positive to say about the others.

I was very disappointed Total Biscuit wasn't casting this tournament.
