My concern really isn't so much the effectiveness of AoE attacks, which as previously pointed out is something that would be addressed by micromanagement, but rather the spectator issue that it causes. Even at high definition, I've been finding it very difficult to keep track of unit counts and battles simply because everything is so much more compact and seemingly chaotic. Of course there are other things that are factoring into this such as the color schemes and the fact that the graphics are 3D as opposed to 2D, but I really must say that it does bother me as a spectator. Maybe my eyes are just not used to it yet, but I feel that the issue goes a bit beyond just that and I do hope Blizzard does something to at least make distinguishing unit types and counts a bit easier. | ||

Now that things are a much higher resolution the amount of screen you can see is huge in comparison to BW, where everything is low resolution and fat as hell. As such I find that even huge armies aren't intimidating as say when 4 protoss control groups cruise onto your screen in BW. The sense of scale is definitely a little whack, but I think it's something we'll adapt to over time. Not to mention that right now every game is fairly low econ compared to what I assume we'll be seeing in the coming months as people optimize macro builds and start figuring the game out, because it's definitely not like wc3 where its all about micro. It's just right now no one knows how to macro yet. | ||
