I'll dedicate my 2000th post to thank you for all the work you have put into the day[9] daily show and I hope the show continues into the starcraft 2 launch and beyond. Your thought hammer will be as needed and appreciated there as it has been here.
Cheers!

Ahh, thanks day9 can't wait to see it!

hey day[9], if you get back to doing sc1 games, can you do Effort vs. Kal from winner's league?
|
Is there any chance you could stream the Artosis vs. Louder matches tonight?

Love your commentaries. Intellectual and out of the box thinking. Thanks very much for your dedication and contribution.

In pvp, I have been going mass zealots a lot, and I've only lost once with that strat. It seems like your strats would lose to it pretty easily.
Basically what I do is constant probe production and chronoboosting on the nexus, until I have like 18 probes, then I stop completely. And during that time I build up my zealot army and my gates as much as I can, and I end up with like 5 gateways, then when I have about 15 zealots I attack. If he has sentries and throws up force fields I just back off for the duration and try again til his mana is gone.
The only time I lost was when my opponent blocked his ramp with buildings so that 1 zealot could block it, had 4 charges of force field and locked some zealots in, and had 2 cannons helping out at the ramp. Of course that was a response to my build, and the downside is that it's pretty hard to kill the scout with just zealots.
Thinking about it though I should have sent my early zealots to his base and tried to see what he was up to, and if I had spotted the forge or something I could just expand instead of attacking and stop zealot production.
I'm not such a good player, and I've only played the beta for like 3 days. And I haven't had much experience with player countering it in a good way. What most player do is they think they can block the ramp with zealots and sentries and with a few stalkers they think that they can shoot down my zealots trying to get up the ramp but if a zealot dies it doesn't bother me so much because it means I don't have to build pylons and of course with 5 gates I can just pump a big river of zealots out. So I was kind of thinking to myself while watching your pvp testing video that 5 gates zealots would tear up your 2-3 gate builds. Have you tried this out? Maybe you should. I don't have a practice partner myself so I haven't been able to test it so much.
I don't get to play very good players, despite winning lots of pvp, because my other matchups aren't that good.
Edit: Tried it some more, and realized it's a bad strat.

Early on I beat most of my players going 2 rax with reactors and massing marines. I thought I was a baller. Then I realized, I was playing against a bunch of WoW players from the Copper leagues and when I started to meet real RTS players, I got pwnded.

Hey day[9], I was just watching jaedong v stork and you constantly mentioned that jaedong should of gotten lurkers, but against a zealot templar army, wouldn't storms just rape all the lurkers? Against all that storms, aren't ultras the only thing that can actually withstand the heavy storms?
|
recommending bisu vs yarnc on matchpoint from the hite vs skt series. Reminds me alot of bisu vs jaedong on bluestorm

Considering the cannon timings from your 2gate vs. roach rush games, could you have instead cannoned the Zerg into his base (right before his roaches come out) as an alternate way of solidifying your economic lead? Since you have warpgates, your units arrive at his natural at the same time as they would arrive at your own, and it's okay to delay your natural expansion (by building earlier cannons - I'm guessing you'd need three before starting your nexus and a few more after) since you're blocking your opponent's expansion.

No because you spread your lurkers out so that a storm only hits 1 lurker at a time.

Yeah, I second this. Anyone know the youtube channel on which the Artosis v Louder recorded games will be uploaded and does anyone have an ETA if they're not already out?
Thanks

Yes, but how can you guarantee that you can spread your lurkers out perfectly when you attack? I mean that is only applicable when the zerg is on defense, but in a split map situation, as a protoss, I would be happy if the zerg would just go on the defense while I go for the reaver/ht/archon/zealot army.

If anyone can make that Kwanro vs Flash game actually seem like it was a well played game and not a complete collapse by one of the players, it's Day9.

Hate to bump my request, but it is more relevant than ever now. NonY used a very similar strategy to defeat Mondragon on Outsider as Backho did vs Calm in this game. The difference is though, the game shows not only epic dark templar usage mainly as an offensive unit in addition to it's harass duties, but amazing protoss aggressiveness following that up. It is not as one sided as the TSL game. I once again think this would be a great game to analyze if you decide to do further SC1 coverage. Thanks for reading!
