It was a fun thing to do tho.

Not quite. You just need to hold out with Reapers at the start. If the opponent is passive, you can catch up to him. I submitted a replay.
My observations: Hellions are the substitute for Marines (except they cannot shoot up).
Banshees are good vs ground, Vikings and Thors against air.
Use Ghosts to EMP your own units with Energy, to prevent Feedback (didn't try this personally, as I am kinda slow to get Ghosts being a Gold player, but still).

My observations Planetary fortress rush

The problem is that the "funday monday theme" should MB show you something new. I still think that playing without queens doesn't make sense, it wasn't a good choice, BUT let's say building a queen a bit later can show you something new. On the other hand, not building marines or tanks doesn't have benefits. you still have to build some units, and marines are cost effective... building reapers will cost you gas. The point is that when you decide not to build a queen, you have 150 minerals to build something else. When you decide to not build marines, you still have to build some other unit. And as marines are the best all-around unit you can get this early.... And tanks? For me not having at least one or two siege tanks as a terran is just crazy, or at least saying "don't use them, just because".
Long story short, it can be fun, sure. You can win, but it doesn't make it a viable strategy. Don't cripple your build order, tweak it.

I think you misunderstand the word "funday", you really shouldnt take those challenges so seriously, it's just there to have something refreshing to see, or to see some new original small concepts, not entire builds. Atleast, it's like that I see it.

He just wanted us terrans to try something else, because we only do the things that are so ridiculously good - marines, marauders, tanks I personally think it's a good idea, as we will be forced into funky shit that zergs had to come up with because of their race being harder to play.

Why do i have the Grim tingling sensation that most of this funday mondays opponents will be zerg?
|
Yep, I tend to be way to pragmatic, but to give two simple examples:
No queens at all? BS! Queen after expansion? Possible tweak.
No orbital command at all? BS! Orbital command after expansion? Possible tweak.

UPDATE: But there is one good aspect of this... Me: "Well, it's like if you shot yourself in a foot. While hopping you could "discover" something, but you're still just hopping." My friend: "But at least you would see if you could hop without falling, it improves your stability."

It's doable vs toss. Not so much vs zerg, unless you kill him early and he plays passively.
Thors are absolute pants against mass muta.
It's also garbage against early MM pushes. Marauders sneeze at hellions and a couple of tanks can be sniped really quickly.
EDIT: technically all those units work. If I was allowed to happily get a capped army with upgrades, I'd stand a chance. But it's so abysmally gas heavy you need to expand like crazy, and you don't really have anything mobile to protect your expansions.

Anyone know how i can switch to the progressive stream instead of the rtmpt one on blip.tv without pausing the video while its being streamed and switching over when the grey bar comes up as my college internet proxy doesnt allow rtmpt streams:/

So, how long until the daily starts? Apparently it doesn't say on the TL calender anymore.
|
I wonder what next week's is going to be! Mass casters? Nukes? Combat Queens? Contaminate-fests?
|
What sorts the men out from the boys is doing this vs Terran, and coming out with a win.
They were the only replays I submitted.
vs Zerg is easy because Hellion Thor is a fantastic Strat.
If you beat Protoss, My hats off to you.

Mr.Day9, I would love to have a daily on one or two of Fruitseller vs Hopetorture games.
I think that there was great fundamental Zerg play, that needs to be analyzed for the zergs across Battle.net.
Thanks.
