Consisting of analysis of good old Brood War games and comparing strategies and assumptions to SC2. I wholeheartedly AGREE with that suggestion ! second While this would please me to no end, it's a rather selfish suggestion since the majority of the viewership is entirely disinterested in BW. Day9 himself even mentioned it on air last night when he was about to make a BW analogy. He stopped himself, noting that most of the viewers probably hadn't played BW, and thought of an SC2 analogy instead.
Of course it's his show, so ultimately his will is law, but I imagine many viewers may not even turn out to watch BW on a weekly basis.

I understand that, but I really believe that it can really help new SC2 players in some regards. Watching some BW strategies many will say "how the hell is that possible" and the answer may arise some productive doubt in the current assumptions about SC2.

It takes a chunk of a mule's first harvest to recoup the orbital and you can speed up your second production structure by a fair amount.
I've been toying with 2 rax before orbital and then using my first 50e for a scan. The main result I've seen is that you are end up skewed away from marauders. I think certain fast tech builds might be viable.

I'm streaming #184 right now and don't have any hiccups. Jumping around takes a moment, but not much more than the streaming of blip.tv. Downloading the whole file takes me about 40 minutes. But if someone has more bandwidth than me (doesn't take much), it's less error-prone to preload the file.

did he do the newbie tuesday live after he resolved his problem, or did he just record it. I was waiting on the utsream to see if he would do an after show but then left.

He continued it later, probably about an hour late.

ya i know he did it later, but was it live or not?

Whats with the missing videos on youtube?
|
The video's audio seem to be out of sync quite a bit on the last few videos !
Other than that the last 2 dailies were very enjoyable .

Yes it was live. I left my Day[9] ustream tab open and all of a sudden I heard him talking again a hour later.

Terrain challenge should be something nuke related, since there are a ton of creative ways to use them, but they are somewhat underused in Starcraft. Simply limiting addons or mules is just a straight up resource handicap, which doesn't really encourage you to play in a different way. Plus nukes are a lot of fun for both playing and watching. A few ideas:
- Launch at least one nuke within the first 8 minutes of the game, and at least once every 8 minutes after the first one. Fake launches for positional control would be allowed. The clock would be handy for this one. - You must launch or try to launch at least one nuke for every unit production building you make. The nuke doesn't necessarily need to land to be counted. - Launch at least one nuke for every command center you make. A bit less restrictive than the above.
Using nukes in interesting ways would be encouraged of course, so you don't just win with a normal setup and launch a nuke just to satisfy the requirement.

Advance it to 0.600s. sit back and enjoy. Awesome, thanks for that tip! Apparently that option is also available in MPC (Play > Audio > Options > Audio time shift), very nice indeed. 600 ms seems to be about the correct amount.
Luckily this blip.tv download actually has sound, because sometimes the audio track cannot be opened by MPC (or GOM player). Don't know what's causing that, but if it does, you can only get the sound in the online player.
After some testing, I found that +800 ms is perfect sync with the video

People underestimate the supply drop. The mule will gain you more of a return overall going the whole game without using it once would be retarded just like going the whole game without a queen is probably not a good idea. The idea of doing it is just to get people to think. O maybe I don't have to use mules right away maybe I can spend it and get another building a little faster.
My suggestion is try it out you don't have to wait for day9 to tell you to do it before you try it.
Mules are not insta minerals. The eventual return of the mule is almost 3x that of the 100 mineral extra depo but the idea is its an instant 100 minerals and your scv doesn't have to walk to the build site (wasted mining time) construct the building (wasted mining time) walk back to the minerals (wasted mining time) (after factoring in wasted mining time the supply drop is probably only half of that of a mule. yes you could just build the depo next to the OC so it doesn't have to go very far but it is still instant money)
Also as you have saturated bases the need for mules is not as high many terran players let their OC's build up energy and save them for scans that they may or may not use. Once you have alot of production facilities you sometimes have to have 2 scvs building supply depos around the clock. Why not use this extra energy you are saving and just build one and when it finishes supply drop it.
People here are so quick to shut down an idea without trying it.
