D: You should add an authenticator Sean, that way you aren't in as much danger if this ever happens again.

If you played bad and you are supply blocked, it may be worth it, but besides that there is no reason to supply drop instead of mule (what gives you 270 minerals). And nonstop scanning is just not worth it, especialy in the ealry game, where every mule counts. I mean, you could nonstop mule, and build an extra baracks for each mule, lift it off and scout with it. This way you still get 120 minerals AND scouting information. On the long run it will be hard to invent funny (and somewhat useful) monday topics. OK, I'M SICK OF PEOPLE POSTING THIS SHIT! Mule does NOT GIVE YOU 270 MINERALS. It gives you an advance on 270 minerals that you would have gotten anyway if you mine out your base! Supply drop does in fact give you 100 minerals permanently.

Actually it's YOUR post that's idiotic... 270 Minerals at the time is what's important here, not that it's 270 Minerals you would eventually have mined some time next year... By that time you'll have one expansion AT LEAST... The ONLY time EVER your argument has ANY relevance whatsoever is the like 2% of games where all the mins get mined out all over the map... And even then it's pretty idiotic since the terran had the minerals already and just failed to capitalize on it and win the match... Your argument reminds me of the irrelevant semantics of a complete nerdlinger...

The 30 minerals isn't really "free money" because it would still come from mining and therefore exists on the map to be mined later. The 100 minerals from supply drop is actually free money.

Your argument reminds me of the irrelevant semantics of a complete nerdlinger... Your personal attacks remind me of the thousands of posters who like to validate their horrible lives by trying to demean people on internet threads. While I hesitate to actually discuss strategy with such a person I will attempt to answer your post (without further personal attacks). The 270 minerals in question would be useful in any game where you are reluctant to expand. Many more than 2% of all starcraft games come to a point where expanding will put you at risk for a multitude of reasons. Alternatively, you could just be pinned in your base. I'm not saying that mules aren't useful. Clearly they are usually the better option. However, when people say "you get 270 free minerals" they are wrong. The difference between a supply drop and a mule drop is not as simple as 270-100 = 170.

But you added on to my post where I was saying that the 100 minerals from a supply drop were really free. The mining time is still an added benefit of the supply drop. I guess I just misunderstood what you were trying to say.

I can see it from my own perspective... being new to SC2 (3 weeks of playing, give or take), I just don't know what to look for when I watch, say, whiteRa's games. It's not very helpful to me, until I get the 'fundamentals' down and they become a second nature to me. So, my point being, please be tolerant. I'm thankful Day9 decided to do the Newbie Tuesdays. Wish there were more people who'd think of poor 'noobs'.

I just started thinking about fast carrier openings and I am sure we will see some neat stuff the next monday; the games day9 used were NOT games where a pro raped a noob with weird stuff (aka TLOwnage) but games where two people who have an idea about how this game works battle and where the one who tries out something out of the ordinary ends up winning who knows, maybe someone will come up with a fast carrier build order that can be used in "real" games

It gives you an advance of 100 minerals that you would have gotten anyway if you needed another supply depot. .... See how that works? Yeah, one conjures minerals and one harvests them, but that's pretty irrelevant when it's put into the context of an average game. Specifically, more minerals faster means a quicker expand opportunity, effectively nullifying the advantage of supply drop. Then there's how the majority of games don't last past one base, and how easy it is for Terran to expand with PFs.
