I know exactly what you mean i have been so busy recently i have watch the first 15 min of 152 like 12 times but ever single time i just fall asleep from exhaustion its getting kinda annoying now, i'm just gonna watch it over the weekend during the day when i can't possibly fall asleep on the couch.

LoL - I finished watching the dailys, so I started watching videos on white-ra.com, and to my suprise and delight, day[9]'s sonorous voice casted the first game i watched, white-rah v. tester.

I've actually been curious about something for some time, I bet that you don't read through all the comments on your thread Sean but if you happen to catch this one I have something that I would love it if you could bring up in one of your dailies.
POSTURE.
The reason I wonder is because you have obviously mentioned your carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome but you have also stated on many occasions that you never get it from playing starcraft. Because your posture is excellent. Could you perhaps give us some insight into the ergonomics of Day9 gaming?
Do you have a minikeyboard to get your mouse and keyboard closer together? Do you rest your elbows on armchairs while playing or do you keep your arms in mid air? Do you use any of those godforsaken contraptions like palm rests or wrist rests etc?
I have made a conscious effort to improve my posture while gaming but most online resources on the matter are aligned to people with office jobs and they use their hands quite differently than people playing starcraft. I used to lean on the back of my forearms against the table and keep my forearms slightly tilting up while playing until I realized that this is probably not a clever strategy
But ever since I made an effort to raise my chair and keep my wrists aligned I now have my elbows in mid air and it seems to make me loose both precision in mousing and it makes my arms hurt. Maybe it is possible that my arms are just getting tired because they are used to a different posture but it would be awesome to get some health insights from someone who have played a lot of starcraft through the years
With so many people about to spend so much APM in starcraft 2 over the near future I think there is no where near enough health discussions going around. Would be really neat if you could tweak something on this topic into one of your dailies.
Keep up the good work!

I'd like someone to answer my question.
When I download the dailies from Blip, I can't view them on my PC with FLV player. If I open them in VLC Player, I get the audio only. However, if I share them through PS3 Media Server and play it on my TV through my PS3, the FLV files transcode just fine with no loss of audio or video.
So what's the problem? I've tried using browser-plugins and the blip.tv download button. This has only occurred after Day9 started recording in HD - the dailies under 120 are still perfectly viewable, as is the Razer Domination series between Dimaga and DeMusliM.
Is it a codec problem, or something on Day's end? The downloads are working fine because they transcode perfectly. I'm out of ideas.

Hey Day[9], I'm another one of your loyal aspiring starcraft 2 players and I just played a game where I could have sworn you were whispering over my shoulder gently with your usual phrases:
1) Don't panic, don't overreact (as i threw down 6 spine crawlers) 2) what's a good thing to do after harassing your opponent? EXPAND!
etc
It was a platinum (although i'm not pro level, I'm fairly above average) ZvZ that ended with a giant broodlord/infestor win.
This game includes: drops, fungal growth, lots of roaches, mustalisk harass, more fungal growth, spreading creep and expanding, more fungal growth, lots more roaches, some upgrade, fungal growth, etc

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge but this is a neat trick I discovered when watching his dailies on blip. If everyone already knows about this let me know and I'll delete this post.
-How to skip the advertisement at the beginning-
1. Open the daily you want to watch 2. When the advertisement starts playing, click on the advertisement which will open a new tab on your browser. 3. Exit out of the tab that opened and you'll notice that the advertisement video your normally "forced" to watch is gone and you can start watching the daily.
|
I don't think the advert really warrants that much avoidance. It's over so fast I don't even notice it. That or I'm alt tabbed. Either way it's a nice way to keep thing free
|
I think clicking the advertisement is good, it proves people are interested right? Even if you don't buy anything, it's not just there to look pretty. Though if you exit immediately, I guess it doesn't really matter either way.

Genius! I hate those commercials so much! Some of them are even half a minute long, Day9 should put this on the first page

probably not, cause the company offering the service to let day9 let us watch his show needs some money too right? no ads, no money, no free day9 daily.
"some of them are even 30 seconds long", you sir... well. whatever.

Just use adblock plus for firefox if you hate adverts.

Have you tried using... umm, media player classic? Though I suspect it might be a codec issue, but... isn't VLC supposed to have all codecs or something?

no ads, no free day9?
what is this irrelevant non-sense? if a portion of day9 audience skips the ads, bliptv is gonna go out of business? day9 isn't the only show on bliptv! and even then is bliptv isn't the only site that let's u store vids
if you want to watch ads, cool dude. some people find ads extremely annoying (like that damn 7 eleven ad). mufin has a good technique to avoid this annoyance and help the good day9 folks (don't worry there will still be free day9 if you do)
|
When ever blip is playing an ad for me I just hit the mute button and switch to a different tab for 30 seconds. Usually I'll just refresh my TL tab and see if there is anything interesting. After that the ad is usually done and I can resume watching. It's not really any different from muting TV commercials or just going to do something else while they are on.

Your attitude, if spread out to rest of the starcraft community can be extremely damaging to the scene.
Maybe, you shouldn't watch tournaments because they are sponsored and every time the coordinators thank the sponsors thats an advertisement.
Blip provides a FREE service to Sean and all of his fans, the only thing that they impend on us is watching a quick french's commercial. I'm more than happy to oblige and support my community.
Using adblock hurts the income for the sites you visit, most websites are a non-profit and need that money to operate.
|
@Midj: I don't appreciate it when people generalize my opinion on one specific situation, and apply it to other situation
i fully support sponsorship in tournaments as i believe it will further esports as whole
day9's vid's makes up less than a fraction of a percent of bliptv's vids. In this situation, the only thing happening are some of day9's fans getting a break from the ads.

yea im tired of listening to Sid the Science Kid... thanks for the trick.

I think that clicking on the ad generates more revenue for blip.tv than viewing it, as it signals an "interested" viewer. At least that's how it works for Google ads on blogger.
