It seems like if you have the advantage in mobility and sight, like Zerg pretty much always does, then expanding away makes it harder for your opponent to move in on you. In that situation your superior mobility lets you move in on your opponent (attack or harass) and use the superior mobility to still be back to defend. Likewise superior mobility with scouting means you can pick engagement points and expanding away gives you more path and opportunity to do that. | ||
