You probably won't get a link because he said it after the daily...
Anyways, Day[9], I'm a Mid - high level Diamond Terran. When I was lower (around bronze - mid platinum) your dailies helped me a lot and I gained a lot of helpful stuff from them. You, as well as like 3 or 4 other youtube casters, helped me get out of bronze, all the way to diamond (bronze took a little while though xD).
Well, I'll cut to the chase. One of the things that I wish you would do more of is dailies about developing your own strategies/builds based around what the pros do. Do more of what you were doing like with the Mvp/NesTea/NaNiwa stuff, except make it more focused around not really the build but getting the right idea/look down while adding in your own strategies/concepts to do it.
Maybe this is a terrible idea, but I feel like right now there is a huge lack of innovation and play is stagnating. It would be awesome to see more of the structured dailies like "design your own build and then polish and refine it." As a top 15 diamond terran that mainly practices against mid-high masters, what I've discovered is that your dailies are great for practicing mechanics, learning more about a matchup, etc. but that they don't help me solve the issues that I face in an average game.
Just some examples of what you could do:
-Structured ways to deal with chargelot/archon/templar mixes as Terran -More of the cool phoenix plays as Protoss and how to incorporate/design a build centered around that -More builds that are designed to apply the pressure to your opponent as Zerg and try to divide your opponent's multitasking everywhere
Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like most of the dailies for the last few months have been more, "Let's look at player X, find out his strategy and see why this set of decision making is good." It's not really, "Let's look at UNIT X, see how player X utilized it, and see how we can make our own strategies centered around it that are viable."
Hope that this feedback helps or that you read it ^_^

He actually has quite a few dailies in the archives that talk about how to structure builds. They're usually labeled stuff like: "Stealing a build," "Polishing a building," Perfecting a build," just basic stuff like that.

Check his twitter. He had people vote on the best funday mondays from the past year and chose some to redo.

Well....it's either because of a schedule conflict or because of their budget. In the thread here on TL about the Arena being PPV, I'm 99% positive someone linked a tweet from MLG saying which one it was. But I can't find the tweet on the twitter (because I'm bad at twitter) nor do I wish to search through a bajillion pages to find it again http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=311652 if you wanna look for it.

Hi, I am sending a bunch of replays to day[9] for entry to the funday monday. If I am correct, I send the replay files to monday@day9.tv, right? Do I just attach them and have a description in the email or is there something else?

Day9 for a Daily can you analyze Polts lategame TvZ games at Assembly, specifically Against lucky on how to deal with Late game TvZ with the ghost nerf in effect
|
I can answer that easily enough for you Tsuycc.
There are basically 2 different lategames for Zerg. Polt had to deal with both; infestor/ultra/ling/maybe bane and broodlord/infestor/ling/maybe bane.
However in the games against lucky and Stephano, Polt was able to get extremely ahead before having to deal with the broodlords. And the way he dealt with them was to wait until the broods were trying to attack and then load up 2 or 3 dropships and land somewhere. From here zerg has 2 options:
1) Keep pushing with broods, in which case hide behind a pfort constantly repairing it and buy so much time whilst your drops just kill everything they can touch 2) Pull back, and give the Terran more time to add on another starport or two and make a shitload of vikings.
When it's time (ie, the Zerg's production and economy has been properly wrecked by constant drops, don't stop doing these bloody drops it's not like those tanks were gonna be useful against fungal growth/broodlords anyway) get the largest most spread out concave you can possibly get, stim and get in there. Hopefully it works.
Against Stephano he didn't have to do drops to destroy stephano's 3rd and 4th. With 3/3 marines he was able to just bumrush stephanos broods quickly before they became an issue. That shakuras plateau game was actually very interesting, I'm still not sure how Polt won. 3/3 marines and good tank positioning I guess?!!?!?
If you're unable to execute one of these strategies it's because you're probably irrecoverably behind and now the Zerg is going to kill you. This is late game. Late game is the culmination of all the steps leading up to it. Remember how I pointed out Polt was ahead in all 3 games he had to vs Broodlords? That's important. It's a ton easier to drop everywhere when the zerg isn't maxed + banking with tons of spines and shit everywhere. When it gets to that stage, you're probably just dead. That's what Polt meant when he says "kill them before they get to hive tech".
As for vs ling/festor/ultra, Polt seems to answer it with large numbers of tanks, excellent army movements and awareness of where stephano is keeping his army and brilliant positioning and decent upgrades. There's probably some more subtle stuff he is doing, I really cannot tell you all of it.
The biggest aspect of the removal of ghosts is that marine/tank styles cannot play too passively late game. It's simply not possible. Constant aggression and denial of the Zergs 4th base so he cannot get too many broods/infestors will be key to TvZ in 1.4.3. Or learn turtle mech too I guess. Anyone for Ravens?
EDIT- what Day9 should probably eat into more about Polt's TvZ is his opening. 6 hellions into reactor medivacs and 3 barracks. He does this the most in TvZ and it's flexible enough to deal with roach ling and aggressive enough to pressure Lucky and Stephano quite strongly. There's also lines of decision making after that regarding upgrades, expansions and tech options. Also his positioning every engagement is really strong too.

I actually would like to hear about the priorities and the possible mindset of Polt, especially in these cases which he almost lost (and then won. There was quite a few maps where he actually was more than dead, like rotten and what not, yet he turned these games and won even though broodlords and infestors came into play (i think it was against lucky, where he started dropping like theres no tomorrow to pull the BLs back all the time).
So many times i thought "well, okay its gg now" - and 10 minutes later, he won. Same with d'Apollo, Polt made him look like an idiot. Everytime he said "that should be gg", Polt proved otherwise. In almost every single game (i watched) - like 5-6.
|
Day9 I would suggest that you do a daily about Late game TvZ ravens. would be much needed these days
|
Grats on 10 million thread views.... holy crap =]

I would definitely want to see a Daily dealing with crisis management from Polt's perspective. He consistently pulls himself out of seemingly unwinnable situations, whether he is streaming or playing in a tournament.
