Looks like my favorite video game news site, Destructoid, has posted an article on SC2 single player. Maybe I'm crazy and other sites have also run similar articles... but this one is well-written, and, if you're interested in the SC single player, worth the read.
So now we know that the NDA wasn't covering up any beta stuff.
Also important is that completing the missions gives you cash. No, not minerals -- real, actual cash. Also new to StarCraft II is the ability to buy upgrades and hire mercenery units. While on your ship, you can go to the second main area: the armory. At the armory, you can buy a wide array of specific upgrades for each of your units, and in some cases even unlock buildings. Want your medics to heal more quickly? There's an upgrade for that. Want your marines to do more damage? Upgrade.
Mod Edit: Adding the OP of a now locked thread, it's nice to have a direct link to the video as well =] - FrozenArbiter

It's the end of NDA so I can write what I'v discovered during the play in singleplayer mode.
After the game crashed (like 5 times during the whole press day) I switched to skirmish mode and suddenly on the build list I had those units (and also in help mode):
Medic - we know this very well, Firebat - also very well known but with orginal sounds from sc1, Spectre - new unit similar to Ghost - can cast lockdown, nuke, halucination (zerglings, hydralisk, mutalisk), Grenadier - new unit - he throws grenades and are really effective against groups of zergs Vulture - with great animation of spider mines - orginal sounds from sc1, Goliath - orginal sounds from sc1 DiamondBack - its a hovercraft that can attack while moving - like Cobra but the model is different Wraith - also with Cloak Hercules - really biigggg flaying transporter - you can put there your whole army and there is space left
And ofcourse my favorite new building:
Tech-Reactor - a mix of reactor features and tech lab, so you can build like 2 units in the same time and have all of them unlocked in barracks, starport or factory
The only thing I know that is new in that article is the "Lab".
Everything else can be tracked back to the last press event NDA and even last years Blizzcon. Thank god I didn't get my hopes up like last time. I hope that other sites will have other things to show off.
The video was pretty cool, I actually thought the lava stage would be different, it seems like it rises then falls rather then constantly rising forcing you to run for your life. I laughed out loud at the last scene when those giant zealots with laser eyes came alive haha. It's nice to see actual footage of single player.

I think I'm gonna do both. Single player would be enjoyable only if you don't rush it anyway. It sounds like a good alternative to watching a movie ^^
too bad there will be only terran avaible in singleplayer mode. i may end up switching from protoss to terran. maybe in 2013 when they release protoss expansion i start playing protoss once again :p
Also, I played around with the Skirmish AI after I had finished all of the available missions and it is VERY good. It's not going to replace human players for anyone on this site, but it's great for the larger audience:
For example, in one PvP I played vs. a Hard AI. It did a 2-gate zeal rush, but I blocked with canons. It retreated back to its base. By the time I had moved out with my zeals, it had Stalkers with Blink and was coming to blink around my canons. I retreated and reacted. It was an incredibly active battle that felt good.
hmm cool interview. "G4: The original game took a little bit of heat from some experienced players where the end missions were just so hard. How’s the difficulty on those later missions? Does the difficulty level take a huge jump in StarCraft II in the later missions?"
lmao seriously? every single level in the campaign was a joke. hell i beat all the terran campaign (both vanilla and broodwar) by making pure marines (no medics lol).

its easy to go back and criticize the campaign of a 11-year old game
but when it came out, shit was tough as fuck, especially for people new to the game (ie everyone who got it when it was first published). i couldnt beat terran mission 10 for the longest time. then after a short stint on battle.net, the entire campaign was easy
The original campaign you just defended your starting base until you have 12 battlecruisers. Since the enemy started off much stronger than you you couldn't really do much else.
I really like the direction the new campaigns are going
yea this game is gonna be epic. It looks like they are gonna be adding a good amount of variety in the objective lists and game play mechanics for single player. I want to play this game so god damn much its ridiculous.

It give's me great hope that at least someone in the mainstream gaming press recognizes the difference haha.

Most of the press realizes the difference, but they don't care. They played SC1 8-10 years ago and have no idea about the meta game or write multiplayer off as "LOL Koreans will just own you on b.net, but I loved UMS maps"
I'm not anywhere near as skilled at StarCraft as this community, but I do follow the Korean scene to some degree and have tried iCCup (promptly getting my ass kicked).
The issues is that when we go to these events, the other members of the press refuse to play me after a few games because just knowing "of" builds is good enough to wreck them. I can't hang in the community room, though
