Thats all people want to do is win games. The root of the problem with a lot of people getting discouraged from playing is that they cant accept the fact that they wont win every game, and they only have themself to blame for every loss. Sc2 needs this and that, and only blizzard can change the shit everyone is asking for..but if people really want something to change for the better of the game and the community, they can start by changing their attitudes. Dont play a competitive game if you dont like competition, if you dont like losing, and if you dont like someone being better than you. Have you ever played Call of Duty? That game model and its massive popularity flies in the face of "all people want to do is win games"

If this is tied to team games and custom games, does it matter that it adds nothing ??? It's like CoD... you don't have to win games to feel like your progressing... you play some dumb unranked custom team games and come out of it with some new portrait, achivment or decal and that shit will make you fucking happy if thats your deal. Not everyone has to win every single game and bearly anyone who will really enjoy this will play 1v1's... so aslong as its implemented across the board and blizz keep the stuff u can unlock cool (like colour skins/profile skins or some shit) it will keep people feeling like they are achiving something without actually being good or getting better at the core game

I seriously want to hear the down sides to this system. It doesn't give you rewards beyond cosmetic things, and you aren't being forced to grind out levels or anything like that. It's something that is there to have fun... Don't like it? Just ignore it then...

Of course, this also opens the door to xp farming, which ruins the game occasionally, but you could just throw in a massive win bonus to discourage that...and give 0 points if the game is less than 4-5 min.

Please let me know if one of them doesnt. Leveling doesnt belong in a game where it wont give the player any benefits. dota 2 is purely cosmetic items from leveling. it has zero inpact on the game it self

I mean, I don't care if CoD has leveling systems to get people to play a shitty product, but when SC2 implements it, it is sad, since SC2 should be a good game ![]() I doubt that even if SC2 is a best RTS ever made in history of mankind, it won't become as popular as CoD, LoL, DotA. Being a greatest game does not mean it is the most popular games because great game play is only one of the many components that make games popular.

A distant second place isn't too shabby though.

CoD might not be your thing, but it's one of the most successful franchises ever. Far from a shitty product.

Nice work Blizz. Yeah the concept of rewarding losses is fine. The older generations of gamers think its pathetic, but their opinions no longer matter anyway lol. People want to feel like they never ever lose. Thats fine... however... Sc2 xp doesnt give you anything worth a damn! lol I can lose 50 games in a row on LoL, but if i level up at least i get a mastery point that directly affects my character. Its the smallest thing in the world, like increase damage dealt by 1%, but it isnt completely meaningless. Some guy said let sc2 xp level paragon xp in d3 lol. As ridiculous as this sounds, id take it!! Leveling that shit takes a long tiem and its just a pure grind, so it will get boring after a while until i feel like playing it again. However, if i can play sc2, a different game, and level paragon at the same time, ill never get bored! Who gives a shit, they are both blizzard games, as long as you are on one of them they dont care lol.

Beyond that the rewards aren't all that interesting either. I've seen the Warhammer 40K esque paints idea thrown around as purchasable or unlockable, and I think that has a lot of potential. Decals aren't very important at all I feel, and portraits eventually don't matter once you have gotten the one you wanted. Maybe other people find them more enticing as rewards :\. Still nice to see them adding the feature to the game. I get worried sometimes though, people always say the SC2 team is small, and I wonder what features are getting pushed back for something like this. But if this keeps people intersted then I suppose it's worth it. I imagine I'll just play through it without paying much attention til I max out on my main race.

They just love to tell us how much they hate the game.

"oh , I wish SC2 was more like dota , so it would appeal to casuals and we would have crazy viewership numbers , the monetization of starcraft could be blah blah blah blah" *Blizz puts lvls and portrait rewards* "Them idiots , they fucked what could be a great game , why they dont care about the more important stuff before portraits and rewards..." ... yeah , bet they will take the community seriously.

In fact, these 'older gamers' you speak of probably have very little time to be competitive at a game like this (you know work and stuff). They are less likely to play a game that is purely competitive and not fun, because gaming is supposed to be recreation. Having limited time to play, kinda makes you discerning in your choices. What I remember about gaming growing up, was that it was competitive and fun. The latter is something Starcraft has been lacking of late. If this brings even a little fun back, then that's a good thing.

I feel like this would be better where you actually earn something and can spend it on things that you want whereas leveling and earning xp and portraits here and there is not all that interesting. Thing is there just doesn't seem to be enough ideas of purchasable perks that would not affect the game itself. Only so much you can do with cosmetic changes whereas in games like LoL you can use your points to buy from a huge selection of champions.
