RPGs came up with it and it promotes longevity in a game's life. Keeps players coming back and playing. Which is exactly what we want.

This is the way to keep people playing not by making the game dumber.

[Blizzard adds simple, fun leveling system as a hook for the casual gamer.] TL community: LEL, wtf is this shit? Awful fucking garbage. They should just let US design the game. What a joke. FIN

Even if you decide that something like this to attract casual players is not a important change (and I'd dispute that), programming doesn't really work like that. You can't have everybody just work on the single most pressing issue until it's solved, then move on to the next, and so on.

But the rewards need to be more substantial than just a small picture to show around, something like when you hit max level you get to chose a special/newer skin for 1 unit of the race you maxed out on that looks "cool", then you restart your leveling. Sorta like hitting prestige in CoD and start over That adds a long ass grind, does not interfere with pro play at all but however does require them to get their artists to work on making 1 new skin for every unit.

It will be A WHOLE LOT GRINDIER than the one where you could get a lot of fast wins, this system comes from wow it will feel like a job to do a game/games each day to get the daily bonus.

Not that they will do it and not that i expect it, but it opens up the possibility. Maybe they will even have the normal game price + extra xp-boost sales (but that's just me being negative). Otherwise, I like the idea. It adds some fun to the game as each game will not only have a win-loss-result, but another effect, too and the way a game plays out changes this XP-output. A long game will be worth more now than a cheese-fast-win/loss. Could take away some ladder-boredom ![]()

On topic: If it helps casuals, I'm guessing getting 1 per level where you get exp for everything is easier for them then getting x amount of wins on ladder. Personally I couldn't care less since it's only about portraits/those thingies on your buildings.

Also, people who will adjust their playstyle to gain more XP or whatever will be doing what casual gamers do - having fun. If you have a problem with that, get into Master/GM. Yea I'm very serious. Not everyone GG's when they've clearly lost a game. Not only that, this system is easy to farm exp off each other. We can just agree to mine out the map and slaughter eachother's armies. Or I can stream snipe a friend and he can let me kill his multiple times. Or people will leave games immediately when they think they've lost just to deny the other person exp for killing his units/buildings. If someone proxy 2 raxed me and I thought I was going to lose, could leave before he killed any units just to screw him out of points. God there's so many reasons that this is a bad idea. I could go on. I don't think you speak for all casual gamers when you say they just play for fun. I consider myself casual, and for me, fun is winning on my own without outside influences. If my opponent wants to 4 gate me, I wish he would instead of going for 8 gates for the possibility of more exp. In case someone wants to quote me without reading my original post. I LIKE the idea of exp, I just don't like that units killed/produced in game affects how much you get.
