I started the campaign on Brutal, did the first few, and then all my save games were corrupted.
So I started a new campaign, skipped the first few missions using a cheat, and continued on my way.
Apparently this means the levels I did after doing the cheat do not count towards any achievements. How does that make any sense? I can see if I used a cheat on the level I just passed, not getting the achieve for passing that level. But I used a cheat to skip a level three days ago and I'm being punished for stuff I'm doing now?
It's broken, IMO.

iirc, the moment you use a cheat all achievements for that save are disabled from then on, to enable them again you have to reload an earlier save before the cheat. Since the save doesn't take into account what you've accomplished in other saves, I don't really see how it doesn't make sense?

Cheaters never win, winners never cheat. And yes, if you cheat in campaign, achievements are disabled. Not getting stuff doesn't mean you're being punished.

"I cheated to get ahead and now I can't get any prizes"
This is what you are saying.

You guys need to realize that he already did the first few missions. He should be able to skip those levels that he finished and then continue on without being penalized.

i don't know why you guys are hating on him he already did the missions but i believe there isn't anything you can do once you use a cheat code, achievements are disabled

You can make a new save, without cheats and complete the first couple of missions on Casual untill you get back to where you were...depending how far along you were, it shouldnt take more than a couple hours... the longest mission will probably be the one where your actually timed... Mission 3 I think it is...
Just make sure to swap the difficulty back to Brutal once youve reached point

i can see his point. he skipped ahead since he already had the achievements, but now cannot get credit for the ones he needs. however the way blizzard set it up is how people have already mentioned. you cannot skip ahead using cheats in any part of the campaign. just suck it up, the first couple missions are extremely easy and you can skip difficulty at any time. so just do the ones you already have on easy then switch to brutal when you need to.
|
If you want to get the brutal kerri portrait, or just wanna say that you finished the game on brutal, you can set the missions you already completed to casual and breeze by them, and it will still count.
I kinda see your point though. There should be a "skip missions completed w/out cheats in previous saves" cheat.

Bad news is I got clear through the final Zeratul mission before realizing I wasn't getting credit.
Oh well. Back to Haven I go.
|
Just play the campaign on normal or casual mode. Normal mode is so easy it might as well be cheating. The first few levels are absurdly easy on normal anyway so just suck it up.
|
Ehm, that's not a punishment that's a reward? Achievements are so fucking stupid it hurts my brain.
|
Think about it from the computer's/bnet's point of view. Your save file with the cleared levels was corrupted, so it has no way to tell that you've gone through the other levels, and accordingly has to assume that you're on a fresh playthrough using cheats to skip to levels you shouldn't be at. Since it now thinks you shouldn't even be at those levels, you cant get achievement credit for the missions you do.
|
Once you cheat, you need to either 1. start a new campaign or 2. load a save from before the cheat was used to be able to get achievements.
|
achievements are a fucking joke man, don't get hung up on stupid pixel trophies that no one cares about.

it wont register the correct times, hence it ruins the raid night achievement thus penalty should continue to apply in full
