Questions about Haven's Fall/Safe Haven

The first time I did it i picked safe haven. Then later I decided to go back and do haven's fall for the achievements, but i didn't get the research. Was I supposed to?

No, you can't get the research points if you play the other option in the archives.

Alright thanks, just wanted to be sure I didn't mess up somewhere. Does the same apply for credits?

Yes, the same apply for credits. Picking either to side with the protoss or Dr. Hansen (Tosh or Nova) is supposed to be choices Raynor makes. Going back to do the mission is just so the player can experience both missions, it'll be odd if Raynor can some how pull credits out of his ass all of a sudden.

On the other hand, its also weird to just go to that mission console and watch a video of a mission, then holy crap! He found research!
