The trick is to have a critical mass of siegetanks on one side of your base (like 8) and take the whole rest of your force to the beginning of the topleft ramp. Siege up, build a few turret and float over a few barracks. Don't rush it, it takes a while, and you should use the cannon on immortals > collosus > buildings. Good luck.

Get a ball of MMMedic, use the laser for Collossi, ???, profit. Took me a LOT of tries for the right timing to push up the ramp, but that's how i did it.

Because after i build up my defenses i literally afked for the remainder of the mission. In fact first time i did it i thought to check out how far i can push it and with 4 tanks per side the laser died with the door having 700 hp left.

The key was to wait until I had like 5 or more barracks, rather than sending them in one at a time, and focusing on one base so that as I killed more buildings my barracks survived longer.

Immediately take nearby expo. Defend with 2 bunkers and 4-5 siege tanks on edge and you don't have to worry about that side...forever. Macro up fast, use lasers to defend. Get 200/200 mix of 8-10 tanks and bioball with full upgrades (you should have this at ~10-12 minutes). Protoss base towards your left. Siege tanks outside, attack-a, stimpacks=gg. Don't worry about bonus objective till base 1 is down (its really big). I actually beat this mission by killing all the protoss buildings lol. I didnt even know about this achievement, but I ended up getting it when i was trying to destroy the protoss base (which by the way is pretty impossible) with my 200/200 m&m ball. nope ^_^. The mission actually ends prematurely if you take out both bases, I managed to take both bases out+bonus objectives with 1000 hp still on the clock. You need to take out the massive base to the Northwest. The southern base is literally impenetrable unless you throw everything you got at it due to the very narrow choke (Had to send my 50 SCVs to kill it), without worrying about defending. But on the flipside, the attacks are very easy to defend against with just 5 siege tanks on your ledge, 2 bunkers, and 1 scv. The northern base is big, but you can set up a good concave of siegetanks outside and push in with MM. Once half of it falls the second half doesn't offer much resistance and can be cleared with only ~30-40 infantry units, no tanks. You don't really need anything other then your tanks and basic upgraded MMM+mercs.

However I ended up using one of the transports to spot for the laser drill. The top left protoss base there are a bunch of high cliffs surrounding the base. With those cliffs the transports can operate with full impunity. The toss will keep rebuilding the structures. From this point just keep blasting them well keeping yourself alive.

![]() ended up wiping out every toss structure on the map just by baiting all the units at the ramp with goliaths/marines(for AA) while the tanks just kill everything on the ground.

the only problem was rebuilding 8 or more barracks to float over protoss base because they die very fast to void rays protoss rebuilds every lost building so u don't even need to float all over the base, u can regularly destroy buildings on the corner without moving barracks

God damnit viking mission... Would I have known... EDIT: I DID IT. ARG! I just whined and did it like in 10 minutes in the same game. I decided to try to float the 2 factories from lower right corner - it worked really well. Gave me enough vision to slowly take out the structures there (protoss doesn't rebuild that base instantly). Then I floated 3 barracks over the Xel'Naga temple by the right side and came in from the right upper side into the big upper base. Left barracks hanging in the air on the ledge and just destroyed everything he was rebuilding and it was happening instantly. EASY. Thank God!

the only thing you need to watch are flyers and collosi cuz they will get vision of the tanks up on the highgrund and that with a wave of other units can wreck ya tanks upp. and when i decided i wanted to do the achievement, i just made like 10rax and flew them in to there base and qued all those buildings upp with the drill. i lost all the rax, but that dosnt matter, redid on the next base and only needed a few more othere then that one complete base.

1 - first I just chocked one entrance with buildings, tanks and turrets while pushing with marines + medics on other side... 2 - using barack (lift off to give vision) and laser it 3 - choking both entrances and building multiple CCs with scans (if you have it ofcourse) and using scans for vision... this version was easiest to do since you didn't have to worry about losing barack notice : once you destroy production buildings there won't be any attacks coming from that side any more... so it gets easier and easier with time

Make sure he's set to not attack. Then just move him up and keep shift clicking stuff for the drill to kill. You should be able to take out the entire base pretty easily. Then after that it's just more of the same with the other bases. lol. Maybe cus people don't have the tech you had. I think this was mission 8 or so for me, now I'm on mission 16 and I don't even know what a spectre is. I didn't have air to spot anything so had to use buildings.

Having a small squad of reapers to snipe High Templars helped as well. One storm in your infantry ball and you might as well try again, you aren't likely to survive long enough. The Tal'darim pump units non-stop out of every building and they replace everything you destroy as soon as they are left alone, so if you make a half-assed effort you won't get them. It's only necessary to kill 50 structures on the entire map, which includes the pylons and photon cannons at the artifact shrines. But if you're a real man, you'll wipe the Tal'darim off the map.

I don't think there are probes to rebuild on that level i forget. I'm pretty sure they rebuild. Hotkeying the drill is good and queueing up its attacks also makes it easy.

Wait until you get a 200 psi massive tank army, move out with some floating rax to give vision and reinforce with pure M&M ftw. Also use a lot the laser on enemy units and buildings so the mission doesn't end too quickly.

After thinking about it, it was much easier. I then found out if you clean out every Protoss on the map Matt Horner chimes in and says "Look's like they weren't a match for our firepower, the Taldarim are in full retreat!" That was fun. he he. Get a fast expand with your first 400 minerals and have your initial squad cover you. The extra resources really help in the mid game. I got tons of marauders and marines and medics with merc marauders and merc marines with bunkers and turrets and 8 siege tanks at each entrance. Place the Siege tanks right at the base of the ramp (just a little farther so you are not in range), and send in your bio ball. (I sent at about 180). The marauders tank a lot of hits and deal with the ground, and I have plenty of marines to kill off the void rays (the really big air threat) while they are still on the ramp. The 8 siege tanks placement was crucial because they did loads of damage while not taking anything while I continued to pump MMs up that ramp. It's more about position and if your tanks are in the battle otherwise it becomes really hard. Once the initial cannons and the initial ground force has been decimated, your bio ball can march in and do the rest.

Push into the bases with Marauders/Medics. Once you have sight of the buildings, use the drill to take them down. I think I kept around six Tanks on each side when I pushed out. I had around 12 Turrets built near the drill. You also want to aim for the Colossi that are scattered around the Protoss bases (With the drill). Make sure you take down any visible Robo Bays before anything else.

On brutal you will need to mass up longer before you move out. The enemy bases are weak on all difficulties though. Whatever you can't kill with your forces, use the laser :p I say tanks just so that people can stop this "you should get unit xxx first" trend. The tank is right there, no need for fancy tech/upgrade route to do the mission.

1) Make sure you have Vikings or Wraiths. 2) Fly one all the way to the top of the map then skirt along the top until you reach the cannon line. 3) Viking sight > Cannon range, use laser to take them out. 4) Put the vikings over the cliff at the very top of the map and use the laser to clean out all the top buildings and any stalkers that may try to poke you. 5) Let them rebuild and repeat.

I had no vikings/wraiths for this, but I did it with a floating rax giving vision for the laser. I put the rax right near the edge of the northern base, lasered any scout I saw, then buildings. The AI keeps re-building them so I eventually got it, but with only 2 minutes left. I could've been more aggressive if I had vikings, but trying to climb these ramps even with tanks is suicide when you're using marines to snipe colossi/scouts.

Start with defenses and economy - 2 tanks and a bunker by each ramp. Then turrets - add about four to six in front of your base. Be sure to have front-line SCVs to repair damage at all times. Add a bunker to each ramp. Three SCVs per side for repairs. Build armory and research ground weapons throughout the mission... then armor (but not necessary). Blast the giant walkers any time you see them. Now: Build a second command center somewhere in base. Then a third. And a fourth. Multi-select these and bind them to one key (1 in my case) and bind the laser to another key (2). 1 C(scan) click, 2 A(attack) click. Gone. Take out the entire base toward the right (east) of the map, and then take out both Nexus in the other very-large base. They will rebuild, but they are a little expensive. Remember to go back to defending your base with laser often. Once right base is gone, you'll eventually stop getting attacks from it - and if you choose you can build 3-4 more command centers there as well. Now you get 8 scans and 8 destroyed buildings per 50 energy made by each command center. In fact, if you're careful, you can take out 100% of all protoss. The trick is to not let the door get down to its last 2500 or so, because then protoss will warp-in for free and start the rush-to-the-end portion of the script. Once both Nexus have been blown up a few times, they seem to stop rebuilding them. Kill probes. You can get 2 probes per scan. Once there (and they may try to rebuild a nexus at this point, but they're so easily killed this way) you can destroy all probes. No probes, and no nexus = no rebuilding. Take out all factories, then take out all threat-units up top (for me the walkers, void rays and immortals were highest, plus a templar or two) and now you're just mopping them up. If you can get to 8 command centers, even maybe 10, you can have the laser OFF the door full time. Mop them up... go get the tech from the level too. Finish door. Win. -Shea

Agreed, I just finished this and it does suck because I have no tech, and you have to constantly shift the laser to the immortals, I got pretty impatient and attacked with a LOT of tanks at one point, but even then the protoss will blow you away pretty quickly. Just be patient with building flyovers (if you lack tech) and be on the ball with your laser targeting and you'll be fine.

It's important to start this achievement at a relatively early point before the door gets too low on hitpoints or you run out of time to complete the achievement. I started when it had about half of its hitpoints left and this gave me enough time even using my slow tedious method. Of course it's important to continue lazing Colossi and Immortals whenever you see them, and, as noted earlier, you can use the laser to laze stalkers and zealots too just to buy time to keep from completing the mission too early before you get the achievement. Also, tanks and a buttload of turrets seem an adequate defense. I'm talking like around 5 or more tanks on each side and 5-6 turrets on each side. The turrets at the edge help take down Colossi too, and annihilate the warp prisms as they come through so you take essentially no damage from air units. Laze pesky voidrays when you see them to keep them taking down your turrets. With this kind of defense I never had to expand at all.

Just fly 4-5 vikigns up the far left side of the map and then along the top edge. At the top, there are a bunch of cliffs your vikings can fly over and give you sight. The toss keep rebuilding them too. You need atleast 4 vikings. There are some stalkers there and they will kill your vikings. With 4, 1 or 2 of them will survive the trip upwards (you just need 1, because once on the cliff your vikings are safe). Anyways, once its there, just start sniping buildings. Easiest thing in the world. Without vikings, I think you just need to bust in with siege tanks/MMM. Do it ASAP before the big units start to come out (colossi).

Move out into the Protoss base, keep an eye on the mini map and use the drill hotkey to take out the dangerous units (the ones that get a blip in the mini map) and just have 4 or so siege tanks and a small marine ball to defend at each entrance. Your upgraded marine + medic + marauder ball will smash everything if you have enough. Even colossus if you target fire. Very cost efficient.

Manly way: If you are good enough, you can simply time your forces to rape a sizable base with Marines + Marauders + Medivacs with VIKINGS. Vikings are CRUCIAL to rape collosi- your only true threat. The rest of Protoss forces are eaten up by stim. Once your base is fortified enough to be on autopilot (10-12+ tanks with walls & repairing SCVS and anti air), it's easy to move out. Wussy way: Don't beat the map until you get Comsat. Scan + destroy buildings with your beam. Boring.

And save your tank and have a big ball of mm. But you need to micro them quite intensive because you need time to get big army and p sends bigger and stronger army to you. But in general, with about 10 tank, 25 marine, 15 marauder, 4 medvac and 6vikings should make this achievement possible. p.s.: dont forget to build bunch of turrets and bunkers!

Head left, like WAY left and then loop around to the very top of the base/map. Once there you can edge down just close enough to see buildings (there will be no AA) and just use the drill to take out the buildings. The buildings will be rebuilt very quickly so you can just take them out again and again. Just make sure your base is well defended with tanks/bunkers with MMM and use the viking/drill combo. It will work easily just get left and loop around. glhf

The key for me was hotkeying the drill and shift-queuing it onto big targets/warp prisms/etc. It takes a lot of multi-tasking. Don't stop building anything, rally reinforcements to your tank ball, focus fire the voids down with marines and use stim. Expand really early to get the gas you need. I found it easiest to break the protoss starting with the top left of the map and moving through their base that way.
