Amusingly enough, this was the fourth consecutive game vs Grimsby where United failed to beat them.

Someone who can genuinely sort your defence and midfield out, and getting that competitive spirit back in the squad that's been missing for a decade, thinking that the quality of your forwards would then just work.

They spent millions to lure Dan Ashworth in as Director of Football, ignored his recommendations and here we are, and he’s away. Momentum is huge in football, it’s the area I have some sympathy for Amorim in. He was happy to commit to coming in the summer, it was they who insisted it was ‘now or never’. He predictably struggles with a squad that doesn’t suit him, without a pre-season, and on top of getting them to play his style, he has to lift low morale on top of that. Aside from the wisdom of singling out a bloke who’s absolutely open about playing a particular system, when you don’t have a squad particularly well-suited to it. It’s not like Amorim ever pretended to be flexible on this. One of Ashworth’s recommendations was Thomas Frank, he’s shown himself to be flexible both with regards to the personnel he has, but in adapting to the opposition too. Insiders say his real killer skill is in man-management and that side of things. That would have on the surface appeared a sensible appointment given United’s problems are morale, and having something of a haphazard squad that’s never quite ‘completed’ to play a particular way, unlike a Man City or a Liverpool. Not to glaze Mr Frank, but he’s only in the door at Spurs, the wheels may fall off. But he’s had his pre-season, and 3 games. In which his sides played 3 different formations. Ran an excellent PSG side close (I still have nightmares of them 5-0ing us), and beat a very good Man City side. Probably a Man City side that’s a bit underrated as they’re not all-conquering, but they’ve accumulated the most points in the league in the calendar year. Kudus and Paulinha are quality players, but it’s not like Frank has a massively better squad than Ange had, he’s just arrived and he’s getting on with it (yes I know Ange did genuinely have ridiculous injury issues last season). But like Frank’s in, and almost immediately has shown an ability to switch systems, and the players know what to do. Amorim’s had longer and as yet seemingly can’t get them to play his one way. I’m not giving the United players a complete get-out here either, they bear some responsibility of course, but to me football’s like any other profession, just with a bigger spotlight and generally a lot more money on the table. In any gig, if your direct superiors, as well as the company’s upper management continually make fuckup after fuckup, and you get all the blame for it, for years, of course morale will be in the toilet. I can almost guarantee if you could get Bruno Fernandes off the record, he’d tell you he can’t play as one of the two in this system. He’ll be asked to, and he’ll try, and largely fail and get all the flak that goes with that. Or if you’re a Kobe Mainoo, very promising youth product who’s contributed some very big moments for the club. Well you don’t fit the system, and might be on the chopping block because PSR. You’re drifting out of the England reckoning because of your manager’s insistence on a system that’s so far wielded like a 27% win rate. Morale can tank for many reasons that aren’t laziness or a lack of professional pride

PSG absolutely fucked, their entire fixture list is very difficult. RMA returns to Anfield, lovely homecoming for Trent hahaha. Decent draw for Liverpool, some hard ones like Gala away and Atletico at home will be very difficult. RMA vs City as is tradition at this point. Barca vs PSG finally, this will be an intense fixture. Lots of fireworks expected.

He played similarly to Klopp and we didn't want to waste precious years we have with Salah and VVD at their peaks. If you're undergoing massive change with transition years, changing the club's style and philosophy makes sense to get a manager who doesn't play your system that you've played for years. But if you're in win-now mode and get in a manager with a totally new system, it's not going to make any sense. yeah but thats why everyone wrote off his first half season. the expectation was that we would suck and he would need a number of windows to get "his players" in. thats why its just baffling that despite cunha and mbeumo being good players, their addition doesnt really make sense given brunos presence and the other weaknesses in the squad. instead of really replacing our genuine weaknesses we just substituted our best performer for the new recruits and relegated bruno to a task he cant fulfill. ???????????????

If he’s so good in the dressing room and as a leader just bring him in as part of your staff

Eze Elanga Pedro are all better than Garnacho, and Garnacho's attitude probably has issues where teams are turned off by it, and no team really wants the united baggage. I mean look at how hard it is to sell off Antony right now. People just don't want to do business with United. Hendo is just a great captain which is probably why he continues to get called up. Immense locker room and can command the team and the field. But it does scratch my head a bit, like idk if you would really want to bring him to a world cup. As you said, just bring him in as a staff member who's involved in the locker room. No Trent lmao, dude leaves us to go to RMA and now is benched for a 34 year old Carvajal and can't even make the England squad.

Clubs do psychological testing to make sure players will fit in with their group. If someone is obviously unprofessional, prone to throwing tantrums and generally has a bad attitude that will seriously affect their price and how much people are willing to pay for them.
