We'll see how Amorim has recovered during the summer. He understandably seemed mentally exhausted towards the end of the last season.

- Cunha very red card prone - Goalkeeper situation is still a disaster - Defence still poor - Midfield still weak - Toxic culture that snowballs quickly as soon as anything goes wrong They'll be better than last year, but I reckon about 10th.

like i said, he doesnt really have too many excuses to fall back on now. cunha and mbeumo are presumably "his" players, onana is still a tragedy but frankly onana isnt going to be the reason we end up wherever we do. honestly if we had ole managing this squad in typical united fashion 4231, united would be competing for top 4. predicting 10th place is absolutely wild, but if it looks like youre going to be right by christmas and were down in solid mid table by then, i think amorims going to be gone. i will say i think if we bring in either a good dm or a gk i would be a lot more confident about our chances. seems like fernandes is going to be one of our centre mids and we need a partner for him who has legs.

Antony, Sancho, Mount and Casemiro are still over a million pound wages a week between them. Gotta clear at least one of them before anyone else can come in.

Unless you’ve an absurd squad, gone are the days where the team doesn’t really click, or takes a while to, but a few individuals bail you out. Most the league has a player or two like that now at least, and most of the league have good coaches. United may have a decent season, but Amorim’s going to have to get them playing cohesively. If he doesn’t, there are too many good coaches who’ll exploit his system failing. And United’s front trio, or Bruno, sure excellent players. But not scarily so. The crux of my point is you can get away with being a bit dysfunctional, from sheer individual quality. But United’s competition for upper table generally aren’t dysfunctional, and lots of other teams have equivalent, or better individual quality. I hope it starts to bear fruit, I quite like Amorim and memes aside I think a strong United only benefits the English game for me as a neutral. I just don’t think there’s a middle ground. If his system works and starts to bear fruit, they’ll do well. If it doesn’t, they won’t. They’ve got some good players, but not good enough to carry a dysfunctional team versus competition that’ll be very cohesive and settled in many instances.

Much better performance than I was expecting. Play like that all season and we will definitely place better than last year. But playing well consistently has been the problem for a while.

His record is only just behind Salah, Isak and Haaland over the last couple of years. And still there's always a level of "aww didn't he do well" about how people talk about it. The guy is an absolute beast. 34 years old and only getting better and better.
